Nice information. I ride my bike 6.6 miles to my community college and it only takes me 10 extra minutes. On top of that, I now enjoy my ride to and from school.
I do not race bicycles. Just make sure everything on your bicycle is working properly and is adjusted and lubricated. Replace worn parts with new ones. These tips should be done on non-racing bicycles too.

I ride my bicycle regularly, even in winter. I use studded tires and chemical heat packs when the temperatures are below 20 degrees.
