The fact is they were skating right at each other and playing hockey. The NHL ruled the hit as legal.

Moore's hit was cheap but this was much worse. At least Darren McCarty popped Claude Lemieux face to face in the turtle brawl of 97. Bert had plenty of time in the game to light up Moore face to face and he would've done so easily. Moore's hit was clean. He was already committed when Naslund lunged forward and left himself in a bad position.
Moore already answered the challenge and went at it with Cooke. That is part of the code. What Bertuzzi did was outside of this and he will be considered one of the true criminals of the game forever.

Actually just last summer i had someone come up to me from behind at the skatepark and he knocked me out with one shot cause i didnt even see it coming. I was out for a few minutes. Then for some reason i wanted to land a pop shoveit off of a ramp at the park. I caught the trick upside down and smacked my head really good on the cement. Havent been able to skate since then. It sucked ass.

Maybe you should go back and watch it again. After he hits him in the back of the head, while Moore is falling, Bertuzzi pushes him in the back. That drove his face into the ice.
There wasn't even even another Avalanche player in the immediate area while he did it.

you should watch it again. Bertuzzi did an ugly bad play. Very cheap as i canuck, and bertuzzi fan i can admit that. But it wasnt Bertuzzi would ruined Moores career and broke his neck, it was the rest of the players jumping on top of Bertuzzi who fell onto Moore. That added pressure ended up taking Moores hockey career away, something that Bertuzzi always gets the blame for when its only like 40% his fault, well ok maybe 50%

The way physics work in the real world (I dunno what planet you're from - Stupidia?) Bertuzzi was hanging onto Moore's jersey, therefore Moore's weight essentially pulled Bert onto him. He didn't "throw" himself downwards. That is a physical impossibility from the position he was in. He didn't jump. He was pulled over. And as you can see, his arms went to either side of Moore. Not directly onto his spine.
