  • wow, you should definitely post more videos! i want to know how one would go about romancing an italian man such as yourself. i think is italy is a beautiful place.

  • brava brava!

  • una facca, una razza! hahaha

  • nikolette..usually we say "lei" and "lui"..but it's not necessary...u make the sense with the verb...for example..."è andatA" means she's gone.."è andatO" means he's gone..no need to repeat lui and lei...

  • I wanted to ask this to someone, to say "he" do you use "egli" or "lui" and to say "she" do you use "ella" or "lei" or can you use both? I have been studying italian for quite a while now but I just use lui and lei.

  • usually we just don't say the subject because you don't have to. For example, if you wanna say "he is kind" you'll say "(lui/egli) è gentile". Anyway, "lui"/"egli" and "lei"/"ella" have the exact same meaning, so you can use both.

  • Non é vero. Se sei con un´altra persona e qualcuno ti chiede: Dove andate? Cosa rispondi? Vado a casa e va a teatro o rispondi: Io vado a casa e lei va a teatro.

  • yes they have the same meaning, but we only use lui and lei. that's because egli and ella are very very sophysticated language, something you'll find in books or in a tribunal, but nobody actually uses those words in oral language. anyway, we tend to eliminate the subject, so just say the verb!!

  • I try to explain the difference in a very easy way.

"Egli or Ella " are normally (p.e. Newspaper)used as Subject but "Lui or Lei" are for both subject and object.

"I say to him" is "dico a lui". "Dico a egli /ella" is wrong. Ella and Lei are used as Subject and Object. Ella is older then Lei. Esso or essa is used for things and animals.

  • @Nikolette11 You have to use "egli/ella" as subject and "lui/lei" as complement. So: "She/he is beautiful" = "Ella/egli è bella". "Give the book to her/him" = "Dà il libro a lui/lei".

This is the rule, but in the spoken laungauge we use lui/lei both as subject and complement. So,when you are speaking, always use lui/lei or you'll end up really weird and funny to an italian ear.But when you write you better use "ella/egli" as subject and "lui/lei" as complement or you'll wrinting will be rough

  • Una curiosità: hai usato iSight con Leopard, vero? :D

  • i wanna learn italian so bad. my familys italian and they want me to learn! so thanks for the help

  • I agree Italian is one of the most beautiful and musical langauges is the world. That is why I am learning it.
