  • Dumbed down??? Talib, Mos, Common, The Roots, Ninth Wonder, Blackalicious, J5, Roots Maunva, Lupe, Kanye,.......etc

Why doesn't this guy on the panel know where to go to get good music, what's that about! Research!!!

What's this corporation talk! what a croc. If Talib went 20 times platinum, they'd push him like anyone else!

and bling.....fuuuck, everyone knows this (or you are retarded, and not old enough to listen to hip hop or understand business) Lease agreements people.

  • Black feminists, ie women who have subscriptions to Ebony magazines and stuff conciously promoted themselves as sex objects. I cant take that arguement serious from a sister with a perm.

  • Hip hop was dumbed down to allow white people to take it. Rappers are not academics they are poets and drug addicts so rap was stolen from there dumb ass.

  • Todays music is a reflection of who todays youth are!

  • @RealmofNight50

I think the youth are more a reflection of their culture and society, of which music, movies, tv, internet, play a major role. If the 1st major stages of human development are observation and imitation, it only makes sense that children will pick up what they see and hear on tv and in music, especially if there's constant repitition of those sights and sounds. So when young kids listen to and watch morally corrosive entertainment, they will often mimic what they see and hear.

  • @tokinblckgie I think TV, movies and music reinforces the behavior in youth but most of the negatives in behavior are learned at home and on the street. Sometimes because their is a lack of teaching at home, children learn from their friends. Drugs are on the streets and drug users are on the streets and in schools. Violence is out there also and has been out there.

  • Rappers were wearing gold chains back in the day. Female rappers had on the trunk gold ear rings and black youth back then was just as obsessed with it as todays youth are with bling. Rappers were talking about making money back then, bragging about their posessions (wether they had them or not i.e Special Ed "I got it Made" and BigDaddyKane "I'm so Smooth") because even then rap was known for its egoism. Todays rap owes all that it is to yesterdays hiphop.

  • I respect these men and women but what they all seem to forget is that black on black violence in major cities existed back when rap was positive. Teen pregnancy existed back then and these problems continue today and have taken their toll on the black community. The Rappers themselves in many cases were making single mothers off stage. Rap gave birth to gangster rap, Booty shaking (i.e 2LiveCrew, Luke Cambell) and today, Sex and violence (and soon homosexuality) rules the music.

  • One artist who shits on every mainstream rapper in existence, Greydon Square. You gotta have some intelligence to grasp his verses. Check him out.

  • Finally, people are pointing out the real problem rather than some stupid bogeyman spookism. It's mainstream America.

  • Can't believe people actually still listen to mainstream radio? That's the worst place to find good music period. Its time go visit soundcloud, bandcamp, lastfm, pandora, satellite radio stations, internet radio, blogs, etc. That's where the good stuff is, seriously society is needs a wake up call. Mainstream news sucks, mainstream radio sucks, mainstream archeology sucks, etc. You have to dig deeper for anything today, cause they want us to think there's nothing else except this view.

  • @SwaggerLikeUz i agree 100 percent, i couldnt have said it better myself

  • @MrJazzHOP definately! check out my underground hip hop list I got like five songs from them. GRAND DECEPTION!!

  • music is crap today like that DAMN!! tony montana song like S hut-the-fuck-up

  • I dont think that they delved deep enough into how ingenious these big businesses are. A lot of rappers arent free to do what they really want to do because there records wont get proper support so they allow themselves to become vehicles for a more devious agenda that the artists dont even understand much less the "fans."

  • man female emcees are either femenist all natural chicks or like nicki minaj or trina...why cant there just be a cool chick that spits some real shit...

  • @1KillaSkrilla1 Nitty Scott M.C.,Jean Grae, and Rapsody(if you can tolerate her,she not Nicki, but shes an aquired taste)

  • Alot of these Corporate sponsored puppet rapper/hustlers/hoes are leading young people straight into the US Prison Industrial Complex via their musical content & tenets thereof.

Rappers should be held accountable for every vile word uttered in a song as artistic expression is a cop out for a sellout.

Mixing the prison element with the streets in the music now the buttcheeks have become the new cleavage ie saggin is niggas spelled backwards, as the DL element becomes prevalent in the Industry.

  • @MrMaanMan One last thing traditions does not mean influence lol. A ritual, belief or object passed down within a society from africans too black ameicans then you get jazz lol. This guy thinks we black american listen too classical music sorry mostly just white people like that music not us or other groups. You have not scored any points learn too understand before you debate with a higher person like myself.

Facts with both jazz or rock.

    watch?v=SutO9tW9k9g&feature=related

  • @MrMaanMan QUOTE

why is there big difference with the African music and the genres they have developed? which means that they do had influence of classical music or other european music.

Ok then go ask black folks who inspired jazz lol was it music from europe or africa go ask.The music is not that different a little bit yes with black american style mostly the english. You have too have better debating skills with me sorry but this subject you have loss.Mostly just whites listen too that.

  • @MrMaanMan Sorry but black americans never listen too classical music because thats not what we call good music or africans or arabs duh.So try too use facts not fiction. We were insipred by african music not classical not then or in the 2011.A euro person can not tell americans about american music which is mostly jazz, blues, rock, hip hop,r&b.Most music came from black folks with african inspired music.Hey use some facts.

These folks never listen too that music.

    watch?v=bqOlGhDyjas

  • @MrMaanMan I think it is funny that a white guy from europe is telling me all music came from classical when black people or arabs or indians do not listen too that music. Most people who inspired people were black folks those are facts the gospel and blues inspired mr.richards and more lol. When you debate you must prove your point which you still have not done but i have with jazz and rock.I know more about black music than you do,and if your a teacher then you would know about rock.

  • @MrMaanMan Not many black americans back then or now like classical music as a black american i know this just like the white americans sorry but you got too do better lol. Most music in the world is make by black folks fact and we inspired you those are facts.Black americans never listen too classical music lol you are the only one that thinks so.In this country it is not so mostly just euro people listen too that not black americans inluding little richard who like most liked gospel, and blues.

  • @MrMaanMan The jazz or blues was inspired bu african music black americans do not listen too classical music or africans.Do you think black kids in church that play piano listen too classical music lol?A non american cannot tell a black american about black music just like you cannot tell a african about african music or a arab about arabic music. When you debate you must do better like facts which i have proven lol.You said all music came from classical music lol go tell tell the africans that.

  • Comment removed

  • OK

  • @MrMaanMan Their is nothing wrong with classical euro music but most who listen too it in europe are white people.

  • @MrMaanMan You must do better at your debating skills like prove a point like i have with some facts like i have done. You lied when you said you was a american lol,and then you say you are NOT white but talk classical euro music smh i keep catching you in lies.

Your debating skills + lying about ethnicity + race = EPIC FAIL

We black americans inspired you guys too do music.Go check John Lennon & Chuck Berry.

    FACTS

  • @enferno00 yo! i like that sh@$! you really got in that ass! he's obviously lying!

  • I do not know of black american artist that listen too classical european music lol when the music they did came from african origin sorry. Most of the musical style is african mix with what black americans changed a bit.The swing dancing, and jazz all originate customs of African societies. You said a teacher told you this but you used wiki too try too prove a point lol FAILED.

Hey watch this because jazz plays a part in it,and it is not classical inspired.

    watch?v=mTg5V2oA_hY

  • @MrMaanMan So what did the book say?So now the teachers in the neatherlands know black american music lol you failed again stop lying dude.A guy from europe telling a american about american music is silly i know the history from the black artist who talked about their influences. If you want too debate do not use too much wiki lol,and i know more about rock and roll which you guys do over there then you do.When you are lying and i catch it it makes you look bad.So i can give you another lesson.

  • @MrMaanMan Their is nothing wrong with a black person who likes classical music lol i never said that.A person like you must learn too understand what they read. When you debate just know what you are talking about, and do not lie about the country you live in or your race lol.

Lying about race, country, and poor debating skills = EPIC FAIL

    DEUCES

  • @MrMaanMan Ok you are not white but you talk classical music FAIL.I think i like many black folks know were the music came from or who they were their inspiration by I hate too tell you this but black music is absolute. So before you tell a black person info on music inspiration learn something first so you do not look bad next time..Well we know you loss this debate that is true so do better next time smh. This guy think little richard listen too classical euro music and others did lol.

    DEUCES

  • @MrMaanMan Little richard was inspired by blues, and gospel music duh most people know this lol that is why you loss again.I type little richard because you think that they played piano that means some were inspired by classical music lol.

So who was inspired by it?

You have loss because you did not show or prove who was inspired by classical music you just gave your opinion so yes you loss duh.I can teach you more if you wish. The white artist were inspired by black artist.

  • @MrMaanMan I'am a american and proud of it but i know who inspired them. The folks did not listen too classical euro music you think they did because they played the piano lol,and you used wiki as a point lol FAILED.I just had too teach you a lesson thats all do not get upset because you loss this debate just learn from it.

Black artist inspired white artist go ask the rolling stones or the beatles.

A little bit of rock and roll.

    watch?v=yvw6osZEi5w

    watch?v=vmo1hP-yUtg

    Class dismissed.

  • @MrMaanMan No i did not know of mamie smith of a jazz band in 1920.I'am not racist or trying too make this a racial thing just giving you the facts so you could learn a lesson on this topic before you type about things you do not know nothing about. You can just view me as a teacher who had too school you on the past and present. So because little richard played the piano does that mean he listen too classical music lol sorry they were not influence by that but nice try.You failed again lol.

  • @MrMaanMan I bet you did not know that jazz music was in nazis germany ,and played by some nazis during world war 2.So you should not try too tell me the history of black music because i know this better than you,and do you think africans got their music from classical music lol i think not.I'am like a teacher who is teaching you a lesson that most black folks and other know already.Do you want another lesson?

Check out black music of african origin jazz in germany 1930.

    watch?v=jcI-pX_NDYs

  • @MrMaanMan They used european musical intruments that classical artist used but the music is of west african origin. The white artist that came along blended european classical music with jazz fact.It is like white southern artist blended country music with rock and roll like elvis.I hope people learn a good lesson from me on where black american music came from, and what kind of music we always listen too from the days of slavery too now.The jazz, blues is of african origin lol another lesson.

  • I hope people learn a good lesson from me on where black american music came from, and what kind of music we always listen too from the days of slavery too now.The black american never listen too classical music but the instruments were like classical music. The jazz, blues and all come from african slaves or origins are of west africa. You loss another debate with me lol.Do you really think black americans listen too classical european music lol?

Most dominate music is of african origin.

  • @MrMaanMan Not many africans are christains lol too bad black americans not all but alot were brain washed into the religion. So do i need too teach you anything else on black music. The black music is absolute, and i do not need wiki for info which is not always accurate thank you lol.The jazz guys did use instruments that europeans made true, but the music and origins are african as in west africans just go ask a black person they can tell you.Black music is west african origin jazz included.

  • @MrMaanMan Jazz is a musical tradition and style of music that originated at the beginning of the 20th century in African American communities. Its West African pedigree is evident in its use of blue notes, and Jazz west Coast slang term.So you see black americans never listen too classical european music all of what we do is african.I see you good you info from wiki which is not always true lol.You cannot tell a black person the history of jazz,r&b,blues, hip hop, soul.

  • i love when maggots eat my balls

  • @MrMaanMan For someone too debate this with me is like debating if the earth is flat or round it is a loss cause really. The black brazilians listen too african music like we did during slavery fact why would they listen too european music when they had their own?The black americans never listen too classical european music lol can you find any that did not really. For you to use christianity too prove a point about black americans with music is absolutely foolish.

    Black music is absolute.

  • @MrMaanMan No in slave time blacks listen to the music they make that came from africa just go ask a african person or black american person they will tell you. Most music was inspired by africans such as hip hop, jazz, blues, soul,r&b fact.I as a black american cannot deny at all.So where do you think black americans got their music from or what did they listen too lol?

As for the christian most people in africa are not christian fact you are wrong again do better if you want too debate with me.

  • @MrMaanMan So hip hop came from rock music lol you are not that smart. So black folks in america listen too rock music i did not know they liked the music well run dmc did have some mix but it came from the g funk and poetry. You sound kind of silly when you make comment know what you are talking about.

  • @MrMaanMan Because correction.

I do not think these people every listen to classical music or was influence at all by it lol.

    watch?v=Bq7IqE9vnuE

    watch?v=X70VMrH3yBg

We know how our music came about just like you know how european music came about. This is just a little lesson am teaching you nothing big. When you speak on thing you know nothing about you make yourself look foolish lol.I enjoyed teaching you it has been real.

    Deuces

  • @MrMaanMan Yes such as blues, jazz,r&b,rock and roll, hip hop, soul all american i know that, but what am saying is we were influence by african music not classical lol this is a know fact. The dancing also influence by african dancing just like the music lol.The whole classical music argument you speak of is funny i do not know africans who listen to that in any part of history they had their own music. The drums, banjo created by the africans to make african music fact not fiction.

  • @MrMaanMan The classical music was not a influence lol.You cannot tell a black person on black american music.Black people did not listen to classical music they had their own music they did just like they do today sorry.Black people created music which came from africa thats were we got our music from africans slaves who did the music in africa. So you cannot tell a black american about african music, and were we got music from becasue we know this better than anybody.

  • If i say rock came from black americans people would say i'am a silly negro but it is a fact.I Think neo nazis would disagree with me right lol?

  • @MrMaanMan No you are stupid black music did not come from classical music. The blues, jazz, soul, hip hop, rock and roll does not come from that at all but black american folk music.I know the history of music in america very well do you noooooo lol.I do not want to make you look bad so just enjoy youtube i teach people i'am smarter than not debate lol that would be a waste.I guess you can say it came from africans in a way that would be somewhat true fact.I would like to say i'am not racist lol.

  • Hip Hop is Black Music/Culture that is true.African music for african people music and dancing so it is not universal. You have people who get mad because they are rejected from the culture like other groups of people but it's black music with the exception of eminem and the beastie boys or house of pain.

    HIP HOP

    JAZZ

    BLUES

    R&B

    SOUL

That is black american culture not asian, latin or white but other's get mad about that lol get over it.

  • @enferno00 Why bring race into it? Why does race matter.......hip hop is a lifestyle that anyone can embrace........if it wasn't for other races it would have grown as much as it has. Check your self bro, relax and spread the love of the music not hatting on other races for no reason

  • P.E wasn't even conscious!

  • jean grae that chick

  • @FATALNOTFICTITIOUS hi five

  • 99% of these rappers are fake.

  • Yeah fuckin right, Jay z is the fakest rapper out there

  • Consciuous rap was pretty fucking dumb too.

  • @DrunkenPoetic Conscious rap isn't dumb at all homie. Conscious hip hop is about talking about how one feels about society now-a-days. It's intellectual hip hop. Examples would be Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, etc. You get the idea.

  • All those people talk a lot of shit sometimes.

I'm interested in real opposition to capitalist society. I don't give a fuck about the Bible and the Quran and Illuminti conspiracy theories.

All of that is holding people back.

  • @DrunkenPoetic Aight man but you can't take down one form of hip hop cause you don't like it. Other people might like it that's all i'm sayin

  • Hip Hop is Black Music/Culture!! Latinos,Wiggas, Chiggas and other non Blacks try to call it "Universal Music" cause they wanna be down!

  • @breezwonder C'mon dude that's been discriminating towards hip hop. You ever listen to nas? If you did then guess what? You're listening to a half-black/half-dominican rapper. So one of hip hop's greatest rappers of all-time is part latino. What about Eminem? You can't tell me you don't like his music. Hip hop is Universal and you should be proud of that.

  • @JayZabalaTV Nas being half Domincan is no different if he was was mixed with white...he would just be considered BLACK! Thats just reality. I just notice that everytthing we as Blacks create is always taken and called something else. Try to tell Asians that Martial arts is not Chinese culture but "Universal" or tell Canadians that Hockey is not Canadian culture and see dont you get corrected quick

  • @breezwonder I feel you man. But I just want to make sure you're not part of the problem of discriminating certain activities to a certain ethnicity. We need equality man. I hope you agree with me homie. If not, oh well. It/'s your opinion.

  • @JayZabalaTV Hmmmm Well said. I see where you coming from. Peace out

  • @breezwonder Hahaa, thats kinda true

  • @yendorification Thats right

  • @JayZabalaTV Nas is not half domincan dumb ass black american mother and father were did you hear that from lol?To call nas a latino is a huge insult, and black people do live in the DR.

His father, Olu Dara, is a jazz and blues musician from Mississippi, and mother fannie Ann Jones, was a Postal Service worker.

  • dude this might sound old but damn dude hit it on the nail...in the 1st 1:05 of this video..it's a setup...made for you.. so instead of getting Non Phixion/Immortal/PE you'll get some yahoo/mainstream rap...wont mention any names you know who they are.....there is not one mainstream rapper that touches the subjects the cats i just mentioned..maybe scratch the surface...but not deep in subject matter..that's what wrong with the rap picture now a days.....

  • why do we have to go through the mainstream radio? fuck man, what about pirate radio? like back when rock n roll came vital, hardcore in the 80s or you got jazz in the speakeasies. find a subversive form of communication, and listen to that instead of going for lazy convience in the form of whatever the most popular radio station is. pandora.com man, search and search through itunes or youtube or music blogs and stuff. nothing good is ever going to be served to you on a golden platter

  • Real Talk. Consciouness is back. The 720

  • Comment removed

  • Most Americans have been so dumbed down that they don't even comprehend what the term "dumbed down" means anymore.

  • hey mentalabyss81 u 4 got master :p

  • don't forget about the Texas rap.. Z-ro trae big hawk fat pat lil keke dj screw big moe big pokey s.u.c geto boyz
  • I love hip hop!!!!...and even though I'm mexican I grew up in the hood and listening to dudes like Q-tip, Nas, Common, Wu-tang it helped me survive in NY. ...but noooooow!!!! I moved to the south and I listen to the radio....holy shit I swera I feel like I'm getting dumber!!!....so I burn my CD's and bump old shit like NAS,Dead prez all that real shit. And they got this west coast Chicano Rap going on and its all gansta and its destroying my people. Hip Hop is in a comma at the moment.

  • Check out Jean Grae.

    Best female rapper.

    fuck Trina and Lil Kim.

  • @shotta0121 Jean Grae is fucking beast

  • basically these niggas dont really care if thet real or not cuz they jus wanna look cool and be rich, i mean niggas is straight puppets and they really dont care cuz they get all the women and money and got all this material shit so it really doesnt even matter 2 them of they are real or not, what ever sales is what sales, and the prob is that we are acceptin it, if we make artist like lupe sale than industry heads will make rappers switch it up

  • Im Underground all day cuz them artist tell it like it is from there perspective....and mostly their perspectives are different...all mainstream cats be telling the same story....same thing wit rnb....so what do i do....mainly cop neo soul artists....they have more feel to it and they artistcly talk different on the same subjects as rnb for example ushers confessions vs. dweles cheating on my girl....which is more artistic??

  • jesus walks was a great song we would probably never hear a song like that ever again atleast mainstream music

  • @phillip50white Hopefully we'll never hear anything like jesus walks again. You cant pray all day expecting the outcome to be total liberation."The we shall overcome kum bay ya shit is dead my friend." Upliftment through education and economic empowerment is a form of liberation, not praying all day hoping "Jeeezuz" saves you.

  • @IMFLORIDA305 i thought jesus walks wasnt even about jebus.i heard the song and i think hes tlking bout people can rap bout jebus and wont get playd.atleast thats wat i herd.u here it and tel me wha u hear.

  • There would be more women in hip-hop if some of them can stay strong and not let men make them think that sleeping with them would get them a deal.Or always trying to go the Lil Kim route by doing certain things that mess them up before they even get a career. They need to know everybody is not somebody. Some people are selling wolf tickets

  • Another fact is the labels wanna promote that gangsta image but when the artist gets into trouble they are quick to back off cos they dont wanna look bad themselves

  • The way I see it the true form of hip hop being underground. I admire people like Madlib, DOOM, Oddisee, Jean Grae, KRS ONE, Sadat X just to name a few for carrying on the tradition. There is some "ok" music commercial shit, but overall underground is where its at

  • @Dariea87 lol hip hop is undead dem boys underground like zombies DOOM greatest villain ever

  • listen to lupe fiasco-the coolest

  • Little Terry got a gun, he got from the store,

He bought it with the money he got from his chores,

Little Kalil got a gun he got from the rebels,

To kill the infidels and American devils,

    A bomb on his waist,

    A mask on his face,

    Prays five times a day,

    And listens to Heavy Metal.

  • beccashakur good recommendation on the griff vid..

  • Rick Ross has to be the fakest rapper out there

  • @daggakid90 i completely agree. They proved him flawed publicly and yet he still sold. He is an exemplary of a faux drug dealer as a rapper.

  • What ten times worse is now he says he associates with Mafia members. Diddy compares to Biggie. So thats how messed up hip hop has become

  • @daggakid90 it'd be different, if he came out and be like, "im just like actor on a movie, danzel washington kills people in movies, but he's not a killer, on the track i'm a gangster, but in life im just me" if he would kept it real it woulda been different, but he tried hide that jail cop thing so much, just keep it real, dats all

  • The bottom line is he is fake. Just recently he said he has ties with the Mafia. Now how did he go from admitting he was a C.O. to ties with the Mafia? Ross doesnt claim to act this out he says he lives it

  • @daggakid90 i kno dats wat im sayin

  • @daggakid90 NO GUCCI TRAN

  • @nandusell

he hasnt been exposed as much as ricky

  • @daggakid90 LMFAO he was a fuckin cop how people co-sign a cop and people say hip hop aint dead i can deal with almost any rapper even if he wack but when u have a guy who locked up our people and shit fuck rap

  • @MrSanatra Not all cops are bad. You wouldn't wanta world with absolutely no police would you?

  • @fmcneillii OF COARSE COPS ARE BAD!!!!im from new york and over here cops are racist ass shit damn there 85% and even the black cops will tell you they play the white cops game aka fuck there own people for a check and as for what i was saying how the hell we went from big L and nas type rappers into officer rick ross and crack head weezy smh hip hop IS DEAD and the only lifesupport it has is underground rappers

  • @MrSanatra Honestly i think hip hop should probably stay underground but only we should have Hip-hop people publishing hip-hop acts I dont want these corporate record companies tryna sign rap artists. I rather we start our own labels and get all the money too in the process!

  • @fmcneillii already trying to do that with my own label and distrubtion my artist is on youtube S.deniro and were doing our thing check him out listen to him or my other artist mr.rapper guy who's also on youtube just type them up

  • @daggakid90 no gucci mane

  • Listen to Lupe Fiasco - American terrorist

  • I love Yarah Bravo and Jean Grae.

  • I don't know...seems to me corporate America is more concerned with your dollars than your consciousness. Seems to me that if the next PE would sell bigger than Lil Wane...they would push out more PE. Maybe I'm wrong but all they seem to care about is what will get your money! I don't think they care one way or the other about the black level of education/ knowledge.

  • I agree but ignorance sells more than enlightenment...

  • I agree! That is the way it is. I guess my question is..Does a music companys go out and form a culture of "ignorance" so they can come back later and sell records? OR..do they look at the ignorance that has been created in society in certain cultures...then feed on it/ feed it by making music that will force those that embrace that ignorance to give up their Money? From that point becoming a continuing circle.

    What do you think?

  • I would not go as far as saying that they "form a culture of ignorance". They just go with whatever works; (the winning formula). It does not really make them any stupider than the society that they are selling to. If all you care about is making money; then the idea of quality becomes a hindrance to it because all you care about is just doing what worked the last time. That's why "conscious" musicians usually starve and commercial music end up with all the money. Change is possible but slow...

  • I'm a white woman, 46 yrs old, mother of three, Christian ... And I love Paris, Gorilla Funk, and KRS1 b/c they know the truth and tell it in their music. Hip Hop was co-opted by the same Illuminati deceivers that highjacked our government. They know that they can keep us all enslaved if they control the culture.

  • Bottom Line: Freemasonz hijacked hip hop and the sellout niggaz allowed it, remember 2Pac saying in Holla If Ya Hear Me, to the sellouts living it up, one way or another you'll be giving it up, now go to the Professor Griff video on here about Suge Knight and J Prince, and Irv Gotti

  • For those out there that thinks Southern Hip Hop started with Lil Jon. Listen to these albums: Southernplayalistikcadilacmuzik (Outkast) Atliens (Outkast) Soul Food (Goodie Mob) Still Standing (Goodie Mob) Ridin Dirty (UGK) Get it How u live (Hot Boyz) The Diary (Scarface) Mystic Styles (That old 3-6 Mafia) On top of the World (Eightball and MJG) Lost (Eightball) 400 Degreez (Juvenile) There are many more, but if you haven't heard any of these albums, STFU when it comes to Southern Rap
  • And 8 Ball & MJG Coming out Hard that album from 93'. But what these people are saying in this interview is true

  • Never disputed that what they are saying is true. I have a problem with people blaming the state of hip hop solely on the South. As if 50 cent is a real MC....

Coming out Hard is a classic tho cuz

  • Sothernplayalistikcadilacmuzik by Outkast..One of the hottest Hip/Hoop Lps Ever! A great mixture of Old school R&B, old school hip/hop, and southern Hip/ Hop!!

Best album on that list in my opinion!

  • You are 100% on point with that, I don't comment on Youtube much, but you hit the nail on that - - Im a hip hop fan, from the south, so to hear these ignoramuses talking down on southern rap, without knowing the full spectrum of it is annoying - as a true hip hop fan you should atleast know whats out there like it or not - if you speak on something without full knowledge, you are a dumb fuck - WORD.

  • There are female mainstream hip-hop artists, but the only one I can name is Apani B Fly, anyone else wanna contribute?

  • you must be out your damn mind...

  • RZA said it best!!!This might be a little long but... How has the South dominated hip-hop for the last four, five years without lyrics, without hip-hop culture really in their blood? Those brothers came out representing more of a stereotype of how black people are, and I think the media would rather see us as ignorant, crazy motherfuckers than seeing us as intelligent young men trying to rise and take care of ourselves

  • I'm from the South and I can't stand southern hip-hop, the West Coast brought gang lifestyle but kept meaning, East Coast brought jazzy, conscious feels, but what did the South bring, what they always bring, garbage. The only good music that came out of the South is jazz and that was over a century ago.

  • If you're not 27 or up don't comment on Down South Rap. When the East Coast and West Coast beef out of control, groups like Outkast and Goodie Mob kept the conscious feel going.

  • Outkast's first album that put the South on the map dropped in '94 (5 stars in the Source). Scarface (who Jay-z and Nas cited as one of their favorite rappers) been dropping classics solo and with the Geto Boys since 1990.

The South always been here. You just don't know about it. Dudes my age still bumpin Outkast and UGK..REAL SOUTHERN HIP HOP.

Besides, the East Coast vs. West Beef showed the world the ignorant side of the black community. Everyone is to blame for the death of Hip HOP

  • listen to Lupe Fiasco- Dumb it Down

  • i say KRS ONE, the lead prophet of Hip Hop

  • YES, thye do, the illuminati dumbs down the lyrics for america to get dumber.

  • They're bringing great insight to this topic, but real talk, is that a birth mark or is that a black eye homie is hiding with the bald head and blue sweater. Did some one clock this dude because he was coming on here or what? LOL...

  • Its not rap anymore, its more like c-rap

  • exactly-- commercial rap, in short-- c-rap; in other words, CRAP!

  • I call it hip pop

  • I was really digging this... and then, WOW, i was lost at "christian rap". Are you kidding me? Christian music of any genre is the absolute lamest shit in existence. Might as well believe in santa claus, as any ten year old can tell you. Christian rap? Holy Moses. Real music shouldn't be about imaginary bullshit used to keep people afraid and ignorant and illiterate for centuries. As for the rest... right on.

  • nicely said! I mean christian rap? Christianity is a tool for oppression. People forget that this music is a reflection of our culture. Look up Dr Amos, that brother was enlightened! Peace

  • ok so wat secular rap talks about i got a gun sex your gurl. Even consicous rap what r they talking about nothing same old my love 4 u, telling about the hood so come on christian is great so please don't bash it check my page out i christian and it's not wat u think it is holy moses come on r u serious

  • So 2pac who said he believed in God so many times in his raps is lame as well? hmm

no disrepect though; I respect your opinion.

  • Turn off your fuckin tvs and throw away all them glamour mags that arrogantly presume to be "The voice of HipHop" Then listen to the music on its own merits with no bling product placements or phony hype /beefs and if it sounds like empty shit then thats what it is.End of story.

  • Lupe Fiasco is genious.

"Something really stinks but I Sphinx like Leon." I'm gonna break it down for shits and giggles because it's my favorite line by him, not to insult anyone's intelligence. tell me what you think

    1) Somethinkg really stinks, meaning something is wrong, but since Lupe is the Sphinx, he has no nose and is not effected by it

    2) Leon Spinks was a famous boxer, Lupe is saying how he is sucessful

    3) Sphinxes tell riddles. This line is in fact, a riddle.

  • Wu-Tang is for the children.
