hey there, i was thinking of using helium to do something with LEDs, but have been told it wouldn't have enough lift (apparently theres only just enough lift to lift the gas/balloon already) - did it work at all for you?
The batteries are the only really environmentally unfriendly components, with all their battery acid and whatnot. The balloons are all biodegradeable latex, and the leds can be reused or squished into almost non-existence over millions of years of feet trampling and global warming.
Not anymore bro. Bioenergy batteries are now available in parts of the world (Taiwan carries an alcohol powered laptop pack) and leds can now be cheaply made from biodegradable plastic. Biod plastic is top notch material, but can now be found anywhere in the world. That new edition disposable camera? BioD Plastic. Degrades in under a decade. Some, only a few years. We're getting there.
This is so beautiful, I am definitely going to make some of these. I can't believe how easy they are to make. Thankyou for sharing this, I am going to talk my friends into it for sure!!
Are those 24" balloons?

That's great... how come you didn't inflate the balloons with helium? I think I might try that ^^
What was the voice clip at the end of the segment? Very strange and very beautiful, matched the glow-balloons.

Helium was the original idea, but the Helium I purchased was crummy quality and did not provide enough lift.

The music is "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel.
Great project, I wanted to do something like that with throwies, but magnets are expensive.

Just curious. What was the point of that?
It was pretty cool otherwise.
