...is it just me, or does anyone else notice that the defence is just pathetic in this game? You would NEVER see this shit in a normal game these days.. Jordan was left with like 4 feet of room on almost every shot. I don't mean to say that Jordan isn't the best to play the game, but that is just pathetically easy defence. No wonder Jordan only played 25 minutes with that pressure... holy fuck that's weak.
A testament to the Bulls' talent. Jordan kills you to get a big lead, and while you think you're coming back cuz Jordan's on the bench, Pippen starts making plays.
@actoman1 Only when you write the sentence and make the statement. That's the only way. In reality, everyone knows the real truth. Jordan started off dominating. Kobe jocked Shaq's nuts. Without Shaq, Kobe would not have been a great.
yeah whenever I'm editing a game and I come across a bill cartwright airball, I can't resist putting it in. It's simply irresistible. And this one in particular was pretty great considering he was only a foot away from the basket. I'm not a cartwright hater or anything, but I do have a sense of humor, and Cartwright airballing is great comedy.
Jordan actually had 12 games of 49 points. I just counted. One was in the playoffs, though, so maybe he didn't count that. You can check how many 48 pt games at michaeljordanworld(dot)com(slash)gamebygame
I believe that one of MJ's motivational factors for this game was the fact that he did not like Reggie Theus at the time. This has been well documented (read the Jordan Rules). Supposedly the reason MJ didn't like Theus was because Reggie dated MJ's wife back in the day. MJ is a great competitor & he always found something to motivate him to play well LOL!!!
Could Pippen and Jordan be the best duo in all of sports? Incredible teamwork!'Scottie Pippen could make the nba defensive team on this game alone!' QUALITY!
Man Pippen sure dominated on the defensive end...8 blocks and 3 steals...I enjoy watching a game where there is defensive dominance (Bulls vs. Jazz 1998 finals gm. 3) more than offensive dominance...everyone practices to be great scorers, but not everyone practices or cares to be a great defender...no better feeling than getting in someone's head and frustrating them from "lock down" D.
actually, pippen had 8 steals and 3 blocks, but yeah, he probally was one of the best defenders in the perimeter.....along with His Airness of course...
people need to pay attention to what mlynch wrote in his description of this game. jordan had 38 points in 25 minutes on 20 shots attempts. it's a known fact that jordan didn't attempt alot of shots against below 500teams....like some other scorers who shall remain nameless....if jordan had the 100 point game could of fallen along time ago. this team only made jordan miss six fuckin times imagine if he was in it for the stats
bill cartwright was a solid scorer when he first entered the nba! he was hit with a lot of injuries in the mid-late 80's that hampered his game. but even when he came to the bulls, he provided a huge inside presence that anchored their defense, especially in the playoffs against ewing. cartwright was crucial to the bulls beating the knicks in the early 90's
Can someone please explain to me how Bill Cartwright reached the NBA? Im not even sure his good enough to play some second division basketball team from Iceland.
watching mj do those one-handed rebounds just amazes me. freakishly huge hands gave him uncommon control of the ball. and a nice dunk early in the game...lol.
Wow, never seen this one before. That jam by MJ over that dude was awesome, and did you see how far Pippen took off from on that breakaway dunk? What people should take note of is what a fantastic shooter Jordan was even by this age (age 26), especially in the 12-21 foot range. Just automatic.
Nick Anderson had some hops back in the day. MJ was a master during his 96-98 years but I can't get enough of the young MJ creating havoc with his drives in the lane!
MJ is still master on his young age .. man on 2nd yr on NBA he got 63 .. on the playoff is that not a master ? tnx for pip for coming he need a backup .. cause its a 5 team on basketball ..

MJ gave Reggie Theus some revenge for flirting with his wife with that move at the 12 second mark.

He always tried to dog Theus.

I think it should be noted in mlynch's video description, that Jordan has 11, 49-point games...no one else in modern basketball is close.
bwink23 3 years ago
Does he really have exactly 11 49-point games? That's pretty awesome, I wonder how many 48-point games he has for that matter.

This is a great example of a game in which, had it been close, Jordan could have scored 81+ pts.
utfanatic2000 3 years ago
They respect Jordan's penetration more than his jumper.
Many time they stood far away from him and have enough time to get close to Jordan ,but they didn't do that finally.

Actually defense was better in this era on the perimeter due to the rules, ie handchecking. However, the Magic being a new expansion team...sucked.
