Just a quick note here: If you find Eddie and then leave the screen without taking the item he drops, then return to the screen with Eddie, he'll reappear and drop another item. He won't leave completely unless you grab the item. I used to get 9 E-tanks or extra lives that way by entering a level, finding Eddie, then leaving and returning until I got what I was looking for. :D
