Harriet Jacobs ...a very strong and highly intelligent blackwoman born into a tragic & abominable period in america's history.
she was an incredible freedom fighter of strength & wisdom. who will be honored by myself, with a sculpture or illustrative art,
that her legacy be always remembered.
i wish i could have met her and struggled with her. but that struggle goes on today, even in 2009 and she inspires me to keep on fighting ... because ignorance & racism is not dead in america.
I am proud to say that Dr. Yellin was my English Professor at Pace University.
