@Deviladin you're f..g wrong; it's a beautiful car with a great engine; and unless you're a female you'd understand that; he should had never sell it, but who the f..k knows, maybe his girlfriend got pregnant or he's late on his rent and got no other options; god knows what; he's probably hurtin' like hell in his heart if he's a man
Hey, I have an 80 TA built just like this and I was wondering what size tires you have exactly? I was thinking about going with a 275 40 R17 with the same 17x9 wheels, but I wasnt sure if you would recommend a 275 60 R17 instead. Thanks!
idiot the bandit 1 was made in 77 and it had gold trimming and had gold rims, stop trying to pass off a standard TA with a bandit and if you sold it that guy was a moron
Just to clarify, on 3rdgen fbodies yes you could twist the chassis having a 350 motor and having alot of torque. The 5 speed trans offered back then barely held up with the 305 they were mated to..grenades with the 350 and a dead hook launch.Ttop cars always need subframe connectors and the whole myth of twisting is gone. Its been preached for yrs the best and first mod for ttop is subframe then build the car just like any other.Car looks like it was built right..I doubt it would twist the frame
@Guitarrassdeamor wow you must be brilliant....because the roof helps stablize the car. Removing steel equals greater weakness. Sorry I'm not as smart as you.
@Guitarrassdeamor and they are trailered around to car shows and not driven. You drive them and those T-Tops will leak because the torque will twist the car. Thats why the IROCs couldnt order a 5 speed 350 with T-Tops....but I'm a retard
There was some poncho heads that made decent power but where the Pontiac motors shine was in the torque dept! My 77 is pumping 425 hp but over 600 ft.lbs.
Closed chamber heads shroud the valves and inhibit air flow into the cylinders. Pontiac dropped that design in 68 for better breathing open chambers. Your combo with small valve 389 heads with smaller ports will limit any real power on a 455 engine. Modern Edelbrocks are much bigger and these have been modified also. 600 hp and much more is easily had with a roller cam and some compression.
@CrazyForCooCooPuffs - Don't know exactaly what you mean by that either... Pontiac had only one block. Ya, the Bores varied from a 2.5" to a 3.5" on the 400 and up sized engines. The block castings were all identical. You can slap a pair of 350cid heads on a 455 if you wanted to and all the rest of it was standard. There is what we used to call "old style" and "New style" but that was pretty insignificant as well. But unlike a Chevrolet, the Pontiac blocks were basically identical.
@CrazyForCooCooPuffs The crank shaft journal of the 400 and smaller was a 3 inch journal. The bigger motors had a 3.25 journal and the thrust bearing was a different thickness.
@snowman231968 There are companies out there that can grind the crank and modify bearings to fit so you can put a 421, 428, or 455 crank into a 400 block
@revontheredline2 I've owned several Pontiac V8 Muscle Cars... Edlebrocks What? Do you even know what a "Closed" Chambered head is? .202 Valves in a Pontiac V8 are GIGANTIC! Obviously you are talking out your ass.

Needs subframe connectors to prevent chassis from twisting, also traction bars would help keep it straight on takeoff. :)

@BikerBry your right, but any pontiac block bigger than 400 CI were called large journal engines for some reason.

600 hp with Edelbrocks, not a problem. 389 small valve closed chamber, problem.
