  • this is the kevin right here.....the rival of echizen ryoma

  • everyone on here that has nothing but a negative comment can suck ass!.. yes, you all have the right to form an opinion but the REALITY of it is that this kid has been regcognized by the media etc & has been given the opportunity that no of u sorry asses have ever come close too (at his age). Soo quit hating & APPRECIATE the TALENT!

  • hes no prodigy.... All he does is play tennis hours a day so naturally he's going to be good

  • poor kid was given no choice for his future. what great parents.

  • grunting should be banned from tennis

  • mutt

  • stop effing grunting

  • This kid is garbage.

  • holy crap.... this kid is gonna be a legend once he turns older

  • In a way it's so wrong to have a 5 year old kid having a muscle massage! I wonder why parents push their children like that. Plus having the spotlight so early will ruin him. He has talent though.

  • His racket is too big for him lul

  • I'm sorry, but this kid will be nor tall enough nor strong enough in Adult hood to play with juniors who are graced with height and power. He will be a sitting sit against the stronger player.

    Sorry Jan Midge

  • He looks good, but this is a bunch of bullshit. "Been playing since he was barely a year old." I don't think he could even walk by then. His parents are wasting money. Let the kid grow before giving him those type of training.

  • i dont think he gonna be something :(

  • this rich spoiled kid isn't going to amount to shit

  • it really depends on how he grows up.he could peak when he's 12 and then not get any better, or he could be the next big story in the ATP. you never know.

  • At the rate this ting is going on, if he keeps improving lyke this lyke more and more by the time he's 20, i'm pretty shure he can enter the ATP professional tennis or probably een younger man he's good!

  • why the "grunts"? Who taught him to do that? Stop it!

An how......he looks very good for 8 but no guarantees of future success. A long way to go. Good luck

  • he's gonna burn out quickly

  • Correction, he turned 8 back in November.

  • why can't I find any new info on this kid..how old is he now??

  • hes seven years old

  • He is back in the US playing under 10 tournaments. His record is about 9-32. He is almost 8 years old. Playing tennis is a lot different than hitting a tennis ball that is fed to you.

  • The kid is OK but I can't really say that because the video only shows 6 shots and he would of done several and they deleted the bad shots.Showing a massage is very over the top and boring.I don't really like this video but more tennis would be better rather than boring massages!!

  • All that high impact training is definitely going to fuck the growth plates in his legs.

  • Lets move the clock ahead, he is now almost 8. Plays local park tournaments in northern Cal with 8-9-10 year olds, he can't get past the 1st round. So playing tennis is not just hitting a fed ball. Boys who just started playing tennis are easily beating him after years at a tennis academy. So much for the hype.

  • Yeah, the training is just part of the story right? There is your drive, ambition, tenacity and ultimately your physical characteristics are hugely important. The 8, 9 and 10 year olds may just be more physically gifted. And if Jan's heart is not in it? He's going to get beat.

  • I can beat him EASELY

  • he's 5. congrats. your amazing

  • yes. but i think that you're 18 or so

  • I hope you're older than 6, even though your spelling EASILY doesn't show that.

  • @dorishoyos

yeah how old are you 15 16? hes 10 years younger than u

  • Not hatin but any family who can get there child to play tennis at the age of 1 and afford to get him into a private tennis academy and get him personal trainers for all points of his game its no wonder hes a prodigy

  • the coach in paris heard about him and offered jan free enrollment in the school, free room and board, they gave the parents a house, and jobs as well. the deal is that if/when jan goes pro, the coach at the school gets a cut of his earnings. he gets free private daily instruction and free personal trainers.

  • i own him

  • they think too much for him

  • If you want to go and see a real talent go to some of the level 1 tournaments for Boy's 10. Those kids I see on your tube along with Jan suck, they will be beat up pretty bad on those tounaments.

  • Jan is a good kid and above average tennis player. Yet, he is still far away from top CA tennis players of about his age. Once he returned home, he tried to play Boys 10 division in Northern CA and got wooped by almost everybody. He is still too weak to really compete with top CA junior players of about the same age. If he works hard, he might catch up though.

  • well if hes playing 10 and under and hes 5 he probably isnt going to be as good right? how old was he at the time?

  • the kids like 7 years old man...

  • @tennisnut3245 wow, jealous?

  • Hi Jan and Scott: We went to Mouratoglou a week ago to play with Jan but he is not there anymore? we may stop by Sacramento so he can hit some balls with Mikaella. We are in San Jose.

    Good Luck

  • all you haters are jealous that you will never be good as him.

  • he is very talented he isone to watch

  • This is the big dilemma for many parents who have children like Jan. Tennis is sport that needs early involvement, I think too much pressure at the age is not a problem because the kid is so immune to it. Its a risk but Jan seems to be on the right track and good luck to his parents also!

  • all that pressure on him. If he bombs, he's going to be like those child stars that do drugs.

  • exercising that much at that level at that age? seems like a recipe for growth problems. won't his muscles be overdeveloped, not allowing his body to grow as it should?

  • he didn't named Rafael Nadal!

    He is the best!

  • @raaaaaul12 he is not the best, apparently he was born like that, he is not the only one that was born with a gift, i could serve good when i was 5, yall act like he is a new god, everyone is always trying to show off their children, you are all like," OOOO its Jan Silva, so exciting!" Well there are other people that are better, and you just vote for him because you are stuck up ignorant bitches.

  • @boogieoogie10 fuckyou yo are rigt ow jut sowing yourself off db mothefucker yo little sefish fcker you thin you're better ha i think you are a stupid bitch that cant even hold the racket becouse of your spasem

  • @raaaaaul12 sorry to tell u that was lame, coming from an 11 yr old. I can hold a raquet perfectly fine and i could whoop ur ass in tennis.............and noone said i was better even though since i am 11 i am better, and probably better than ur old gay self too, GENIUS, Comment again BIPOLAR RAAAAAUL12, wait u probably dont even know what bipolar means, but at the age u r at, u should............... :P FUCK YOU

  • I think the parents of this kid are self obessed and have shown the video for there own credit as 2 what could be. As a number of viewers have remarked, he faces a future of injuries and the possibility of burning out before he even reaches his peak! And anyway, Roger started at the age of 6 and commited to tennis at the age of 11 and held top spot for nearly 5 years?

  • Beware of fracture.....this kid is a prodigy!!!

  • dont get me wrong here...the kids realy good for his age. but just because he can hit the bal 10 times over the net in a row. doesnt mean he will become the next Roger Federer. There is a reason for Bolletieri for not taking him.

  • This is practicaly child abuse. For fuck sake leave the kid alone and let him be normal. Freaks...

  • Emil Ruusuvuori from HLK tennis team in Helsinki is alot better than Jan

  • at the same age.

  • Comment removed

  • Where's video?

    kerttuniva (1 week ago)

Emil Ruusuvuori from HLK tennis team in Helsinki is alot better than Jan

  • hope he doesn't get scholiosis

  • for a five year old, this guy's really got talent.

  • he is amazing. but does he have 1 handed or 2 handed backhand? but he is great

  • I beat a guy named Daniel Jacobson who Beat a guy named Perry Gregg, who killed jan. also, he looks like hes possessed in person

  • You're point?

  • i truly dont know

  • A lot of hateful people commenting on this video.

  • I know so many people are jealous on youtube. Just accept that this kid is amazing haha.

  • hahahahaha lolololol.

  • hey spiralbevel. shut the hell up. this kid his good, maybe u dont want to admit it but yeah, hes good. although his parents could relax a bit and let him have some fun.

  • Comparing to the net he was about 44 inch tall when he was 5.7 years old, while an average kid at the same age should be 47inch tall. His projecting height at 21 year old will be 5-6 (166cm), which will be a huge disadvantage against 6-1 (183cm) and taller tennis pro. A shorter player needs to be faster, but we do not see fast feet here. We do not know how excessive physical workout effects child development. His parents look tall so he should be tall as well.

  • Skill level contributes only 20% into the world champion. Mental determination to become the #1 is the most important. But, unlike his parents, this kid does not look to care if he wins. Also, his foots are slow, he is not left-handed and he does not look to be tall for his age. Where is the talent? It is just hard work since age 1. Many others do better with the same amount of training.

  • people say that tennis is a 70-80 percent mental.

i believed this myself until lendl told my coach thats its 70-80 percent footwork.

  • The way he naturally takes the ball off the rise with topspin on that forehand at five years old is fucked up.

  • when you are a kid and you learn tennis you are good, the thing is what this kid will do when he will be like 20 years old.

  • who care if he started playing at one if he break his arm or leg he goneeeeeeeeee

  • you shouldn't start tennis at age 1, it's not natural. this kid will probably burn out before he can make a dent anywhere

  • he sucks

  • the person he versed sucked

  • im better than him but im 12 i think he will be better than me when hes my age

  • nah hes good but not THAT good

  • This kid his good but his parents are putting everything on his tennis career. They will invest approx 2 million dollars in his game by the time he is 18. If he decides that he wants to do something else or doesn't turn then the family is in financial ruin. He has his own trainer, tactiacial coach and even a dietician. Jan spends about 6 hrs training a day. A bit much for a six year old huh?

  • why would you start a kid when he is one... he is amazing but his ego might one day become the the best of him

  • NADAL?? ¬¬ stupid boy

  • And Nadal?? este niño es un gilipollas!

    VIVA ESPAÑA!

  • si señor

  • basiclay he good for his age buthis mum and dad are alomst guranteeing he will become pro

  • im better then him

  • YOU SUCK YOURSELF !!! DICKHEAD

  • amazing veryy good

    but...

doubt he has a nice social life

  • another young tennis star

    watch?v=MJO9lKYLlJo

  • hes bloody amzing

  • He looks like a midget from Willy Wanka, and the green warm up suit doesn't help.

  • wat a spoiled litle shit..And wat if he dnt become a tennis player the mum and dad have just wasted their time in goin from usa to france

  • Also what if he decide he dosnt like tennisn and takes up football?

  • he prbably hits harder than it looks like on this vid

  • wow his muscles havn't developed to where he needs that kind of treatment.. spoiled kid... we'll see how his body developes

  • i know this kids brother

i dont think hes thats fucking good =/

  • His grunt seems sort of fake. Like he's trying to do it. But anyway, It doesn't matter if this kid has been playing since he was 'barely a year old'. I bet that didn't help with the experience, he could barely pick up a racquet. And YES, his parents seem way too enthusiastic about this.

  • a grunt isn't always necessarily due to fatigue: its mainly for timing your breathing as you hit. i started playing when i was 2 years old and i agree with you entirely about parents being too pushy :) i just hope that he doesn't let the expectations get on top of him.

also to all the people who keep saying that he's "not THAT good" he's incredibly talented and at that age its better for his development to play mini tennis. :)

  • yeah yeah yeah... In this video he is playing on mini-tennis. Mini-tennis is the thing most easy of the world!!! When he play on the whole the court put a video!! A good video!!!

  • Spoiled Brat!!!!!!!!!!

  • people who see this at first think wow but if you think that you have little knowledge of what makes a tennis player.from a coaches point of view his technique would be lucky to get a 2-3 out of 10 (inside swing line, wrong grip on forehand, backhand is retarded.Good luck to him but he has a lot of things to sort out.

  • Wow he's 5 and he can hit the ball like that? I'm 20 and hes better than me haha, if he can keep up that level of learning then no doubt he will be a star, I just hope that he doesen't peak too early.

  • No doubt he will excel in junior tournaments, but his body may be worn down be then and he may have peaked, which will diminish a chance at a prolonged successful pro career.

  • He is a level above everyone at his age and that will likely remain the same until when he gets to about 17 when he faces competition that is at his level. Players peak and the problem with this is is that he may peak too soon.

  • A lot of kids who start out young like this screw up later on. Hopefully he wont.

  • NAICE. Keep it up, dude!

Jan Silva, number 1 in the world. Yeah..

Yeah, I can picture that. ;D

  • wow. he's great.

  • I think he is great, and he will be really good in the age of 15, but it is no good to make too much noise now, perhaps and only perhaps he is not as good as everyone hopes when he gets older. Anyway, actually he seems to be a great player on the future.

  • He'll be a star!!!!

  • he is amazing keep on training. next number one your child has great technique next fedderer he should join me in bolleteri even though im eleven

  • hes pretty good for 5, not suer whether hell be nething mainly because hes too weak now to have decent technique, but for a 5 year old his technique is pretty impressive sos his movement

  • comment please:

    watch?v=7GUadbU3Y40

  • physique exercises are bad for 5 years old i think... or massages ...

  • That's wrong, getting massages at the age of 5??? He'll be permanently injured when he gets into his late teens.

  • yeah i would be pretty good if i had courts in my backyard

  • Don't hate because this kids parents are well off enough to give their kid a great opportunity. If you had a kid like Jan and you had the money, you too would want the best for your kid.

  • he is not SPOILED your just Jealous your not that good, and if you knew how hard tennis is, you might respect him

  • No, they are not rich, they got the full costs by the owner of the tennis camp in france.

  • They have got to be one rich family.

  • SPOILED BRAT!

  • Yes you are...

  • I'm sorry but you think I'm, let me tell you I am the farthest thing from spoiled let the rant begin... I live in community housing, I can barely afford clothes without going to places like Goodwill while Jan A.K.A "future" of TENNIS is receiving his own man slave that gives him massages and an entire tennis program for him. Don't get me wrong I think what your going is great but, if he was truly a "STAR" he could do it without all these, part of me is jealous,

  • This is part 2 of my last comment:

I wish my father started teaching me tennis when 1 and move to Europe just for me but I am also annoyed that your are spending excessive money on one 6 year old boy while millions of 6 year old boys have never even seen a tennis ball.

  • Part 3:

So think again before you call me or any one else SPOILED because I thought it but it seems you have not. I know that now people are going to say things like "you can't do better!" All I have to say is... I never got the chance!

    Thanks again

    -Matthew

  • What you need to understand is Jan taught himself how to play. The academy he attends pays for his tennis. We dont pay for anything that has to do with Tennis. He is the recipient of the greatest gift in Tennis. All he has is his game and an opportunity to compete against the best players from around the World. No Money. Just Tennis. We dont have money, we are blessed with a kid who loves the game so much that these incredible things are happening around him... THE SECRET!

  • I understand i'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh but isnt his Mother former pro Tennis and Father former NBA

  • Mother played NCAA Div.I father played, NAIA Div.II, Mother taught lessons until the day he was born.

  • good for his age but anyone can be this good with that amount of training

  • That comment is advanced stupidity. Most kids could never do this no matter how many hours. This is more than just lots of hours, it is talent and desire. I know the family personally and he is different than most kids when it comes to tennis.

  • If it were true what he was saying then no one would be talking about Jan or Zach. They are two very promising young kids. Hope all is well Tom...SS

  • I think Jan Silva is great for his age, Have a look at my Son Robbie Marshall aged 6 training at the Bolleteri he started training at 4 & I think his technique is far better any thoughts? I dont see any think wrong in Jan training 4 hours a day as long as he is able to do this. I think his parents are only giving him best possible start. & only the parents no the kid well enough to determin his scedule that is right for him. Not all kids are the same?

  • Whats with the massage..... at age 7? what kinda parents are those? That's ridiculous.....

  • u dumb, u have no clue about body manipulation through massage, espacially for young athletes in a long run!

  • lol bless him he looks like a lil pro in his tennis outfits...and he'd kick my ass in a tennis match!

  • This kid is amazeing! I have seen him play before in California but he probably got amazing!!

  • if i played tennis it go out of the court and over the fence cuz i ma powerhitter in baseball and im an amazing, unstopable bball player!!!! BBALL= LIFE!!!

  • i hope the parents have the plans mapped out right for this kid. but im almost sure they dont. good luck Jan.

  • well when you put yourself or your kid in the public eye i guarantee you will get comments both positive & negative so you can expect criticism. but im not attacking the kid at all. i didnt say one bad thing about him. i was more concerned about the parents' motives. hes obviously a gift from God. i just dont want to see such a blessing rise high but not succeed like those in the past who were pushed too hard at a young age. but i know he's a good kid. i would never attack a 7 year old.

  • What are you being critical of? Your almost sure we dont have the plans for him mapped out? Parents with kids who dont play sports at all have things mapped out pretty well and you think we dont???

  • How about spending less time on the internet and more time giving Jan a normal childhood. Chill Out!

  • He'll burn out for sure. All his parents want is the money. This is not normal for a little kid

  • Get your facts straight the parents turned down money to stay in the US so the child could train in France, a country that is way better in Tennis than Australia. You sound jealous and upset like your mad cause you wish you were this kid or his parents?

  • this little kid proves that mixed kids are the best looking, thank god for my finacee

she better be ready some little jan's herself

  • Thank god for y finacee???

  • i love my fiancee, we will make pretty babies

  • this kid is a prodigy but i dont think he should be physically overworked at this age but since he's already started well then i hope he changes tennis and bring it up on a whole new level

  • caboverdiano blood cabo verde islands

  • I know this kids dad and have met the child he is NO WAY being forced to play. So if you don't know the situation don't comment!

  • you must be an idiot, you have no clue do you, do you even play tennis? whats your name where have you gone? im not giving my name out on youtube. what circuit you ask the atp circuit, playing futures in equador and venazuela in may alos a future in perth. umm and as for the starting at 7 thing so federer never made it? he started at 8 only the best player ever it has nothing to do with age, it depends on how committed the player is and how determined he is.

  • Fed really started at 8?? but was playing way earlier. Always around the tennis since his mother and father and sister were all playing. It would appear the idiot is you. Is that a bowling tour? Why come here talk trash about a family you dont know and try to talk yourself up??? Your results are easily searchable. And if you started at 11 you wont make it near 200...Ask me what I know about tennis now!

  • federer did start at 8, if he was hitting earlier here and there wit his dad it didnt make a difference. and there have been many player who have started at 9 10 or 11 in the top 200 easy. french open woman quarterfinalist startd at 15 and ljubicic started at 9 got to no 4 in the world ruins your theory. Maybe you should stop living a lie. are you a coach?no. are you an ex proffesional?no do you read bullshit articles typed up by idiots?yes. AND i didnt talk trash about this kid or his parents

  • Fed Didn't start at 8, Nor did Lub...Do your own homework and look into the ages of all the players in the top 50. You will find that the average age of those players is 5. Anyone starting after that is an exception and not a rule. Tell who you are and I will tell you about me. I used to coach and played pro Tennis. Now What?

  • What do you know about tennis? Not alot by the sounds of it. So you've talked to a few people and read some books, but how much have you played the game and have you coached? When did YOU start playing?

I'm not chopping anyone down(except you), but I think anyone has the right to question the sustainability of 4 hours a day on a 5 year old, not only physically but mentally.

Like nazzazzan said there have been plenty older than 7 that have made it into the top 100.

P.S. Get a Life of your own

  • Not Plenty over 7 that made it into the worlds top players and your buddy commented on this family not knowing them or there story. Sounds like your doing the same. If the kid goes to school and has friends and lives like any other normal 6 year old why would he be a social retard? Words your girlfriend used were Extreme, Social retard, Forced, and cruel then he talks about himself like he's better. If you defend that then your no better than him. This kid is going to shut all of you up!

  • Obviously you have a better chance if you start young, but saying you definitely won't make it if you start after 7 is a bit short sited don't you think?

Words your girlfriend used..... haha.....funny. Seriously, you're one to talk. Your obviously stalking this kid which brings up all kinds of questions. Can you read? I am not cutting this kid or his family down, I am just showing concern. I actually hope he does make it. I am John Smith, I live at 1 madeup Rd. Your turn.

  • I read well...I read Fed was playing well before 8 and always hitting a ball against a wall and different things well before 8. I think Chinese, American, Russian and other Countries Gymnasts train way harder and way longer and at a way younger age but I dont hear anyone complaining about that. I have had the pleasure to meet this child and his family and when people speak out about what they are doing in error...I feel compelled to weigh in.

  • you do realise i said IF this kid was getting forced its cruel. I read in a tennis magazine about him, he trains 4 hours a day and goes to school for 2 hours. For a 6 year old he should be out socializng with friends. He isn't just playing whenver like nadal when he was 6, he trainin full time pretty much and for a 6 year it is extreme. His muscles are small. Lub started at 9. I have full belief in myself and more determination than you would know. PLease dont tell me what i can and cannot do

  • IF: (which i think might be the case because starting at 1 is crazy) Is what you said.

How does a parent make a child play at 1? I read the child was babysat by tennis people. And was nearly born on a tennis court. He was raised at a tennis club in California where everyone does what??? Plays tennis. You write those words about a child: Extreme, Social retard, Forced, and cruel and all he is doing is playing a game that he loves. Listen to him on those videos he is laughing and having fun.

  • just think about it. he plays 4 hours a day. Hes 6 years old. He has small weak muscles. He is going to burn out, ive seen it many times before. I never said i didnt want this kid to make, he probably has the best chance out of anyone right now but we will see in due time if he actually loves the game or is just doing it to make his parents proud. And when your talking about a late starter not making it, by what age?

  • Thanks for the He is going to burn out? Good luck to you! Must be nice to be RICH!

  • what does me having money have to do with anything. All im saying is you cant predict someone being pro, anything can happen in the next ten years. Many kids who train like this kid but not as much, burn out. they get bored. Hes 6 now ofcourse hes having fun but anything can happen. you just cant predict the future, so saying hes definetly going to make it is idiotic unless your a fortune teller. I might have been a bit harsh sorry.

  • JUST STOP SAYING HE IS GOING TO BE GREAT WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW! im talking to tennisgoddess to but ive seen other vids of him and you say the same thing.

  • he will be great, the kid is 5 years old

  • mixing is the future

fuck u, he will be great

  • Difference between you and him is he started at 1 while you started at 11...OK. The other differences are your a pro and if your not in the top echelons of Tennis your parents are going broke to support your game? His parents dont have to pay for anything! Someone believes in his game so much so that they are willing to fund everything. I think that is wonderful as you may know how expensive it is to fly from anywhere to South America for a tournament?

  • well lucky me my parents actually loved growing up. They are wealthy and will support me to then end plus i only pay for airfares, everything else is paid for (cept for food) and its for a series of tournies 4 of them, world trip ticket dicounted its all good RELAXXX dont you worry. Just stick to doing what you know best. Looking up little boys on google.

  • ive been observing jan silva's videos since last year and by golly has he improved! im happy for hima nd his parents. However, the debate is tiring my ears out. lets just give this little kid some time and we'll see how he does at the junior level. all the best =)

  • whats the most recent one of him called?

  • not sure if tennisgoddess13 realizes or not but i am complimenting Jan. it is the other people who always put down the fact he might get hurt or this or that cuz he doesn't use a foam ball or smaller racket. compliments to jan and good luck.

  • and hate to break news to people but its usually not these 3 "famous" (haha) named coaches that make top players. it is usually parents with some outside help.

  • not sure which jan video it was but why do others always talk smack that kids need to use foam ball, shorter court and lighter racket. those who can do, and those who can't use foam balls, lighter racket and smaller courts. don't think any top players started out with peewee racket tennis mentality

  • why do they always have to grunt!?

man! really, hes just a kid, and already screaming!
