  • Is your car an auto or manual? Would I need a high stall if I put that cam in my VY auto?  Sounds awesome mate, nice car.

  • What sort of economy do u get around town? I use my VU ss daily for work (towing a mowing trailer) and I'm thinking about a cam like this.

    Need to be a little concious of economy though :)

  • Noway a stock xr6t would beat a cammed ls1, my tuned ls1 rapes stock ba/bf xr6t's, fg's we dead even ;)

  • @ONDGHIA stock xr6t is only 270hp. FG F6 is 310. Tune them, the xr6t will look more like 360-380 and the F6 will easily see past 400. They are a great machine. Though I love the sound of cammed V8's.

  • @Darkrayne29 some how i find that hard to believe i have a 2.5 turbo diesal that doesnt get 12ks to a liter on a highway i also have a worked ls1 and no chance of that with a cam at low rev,s fuel is unburnet and going out the exuast.

  • hey mate, funny thing i came across this vid. im picking up a VY II SS ute in a few days and it has the same spec's as your's. is your cam classed as a mild cam?? also does it sound like that at idle all the time or only when its cold. BTW i love the sound of yours, i hope mine turns out like this when i go to pick her up.

  • Hi in your opinion is there much difference between the sound of twin 3'' diffillipo and 2.5 I am ordering a 2.5'' t replace xforce 3'' and car makes 280 rwkw LS3 Crate install VT HSV. Looking at a cam but personally DF 3'' Expensive so a 2.5'' M/S should work.......do u think

  • I think the twin 3" will be a bit too loud.. id go the twin 2.5 inch :)

  • The chev gear works better with the cars lines imo that and they run a chev motor!

  • Shit are you serious that little ride has got a V8 under the hood, damn you must got money because I heard gas prices are crazy in Australia. That is also a massive V8 too, that's the size of most large pick up truck engines.

  • I'd say manta is louder.. di fillipo gives a a more thud of a note deeper..

  • Well the vy ss and now my ve ssv run chev built LS1 and L98.. heaps of power with a tune and intake/exhaust.. though my ssv still has its stock exhaust!

  • That can be said about any make mate.. depends on who builds it.. if you can drive and how shes looked after... variables galore.. find something your happy with and go with it...

    I sold this vy ss a year and a half ago now.. currently in a 450+rwhp VE SSV - Procharged 6L goodness.. feel sorry for the turbo'd up R33 who tried to give her a go from the lights the other night haha. I'll leave it there.. ;)

  • fuel economy was still great.. longer trips with full car people and luggage and full tank. and air con on i averaged 11.5L per 100k's.. of course she'll drink more if you've got a heavy right foot lol

  • not they dont have to be rebuilt the LS1 motors are good for a long time :).. cam upgrade with valave springs and timing chain is all that was needed here..

  • Yeah i use the vy to run about in although not alot of distance.. the cam is great being the 228/230 @ 112 LSA .571 lift, .573 exhaust comp cam.... on longer trips ive seen the Litres per 100's ks drop into the 9's! so depending on your right foot to as how much fuel you'd use :)

  • yes while getting the cam done i had mine put in.. i rekcon the car revs freer with it on and no doesnt make the steering heavier.. also looks mint too :)

  • The exhaust is as follows.. Pacemaker 4-1 - 1 3/4 extractors, pacemaker 3 inch Hi flow stainless cats and the Di Filippo twin 2n half inch cat back :).. could imagine shed be a fair bit louder with no rear resonator on her though lol, not that it isnt loud enough already! haha

  • Very nice mate, you must be running a 3.9 diff to pull that rpm in fifth @ 110 km/h.

  • driveability is great.. do some local drop off and picking up of kids mainly so not alot of kays.. though ran out country and back like 1200k's avergaed 12L per 100km's with 4 adults full boot/fuel and aircon on :).. cruisin in 5th gear at 2500rpm at around 110kph

  • had got alot of other things done around the car.. eg lowered lovell superlow springs.. she does have a heavy duty Z grip textralia Clutch in her.. sintered Ceramic button race clutch!.. also harrop diff cover and higgins over the radiator cold air intake with K&N filter.. stock TB runs fine with this combo! also has upgraded slotted rotors front n rear with ferrodo pads.. pbr 2 spots up front and one on the rear.. painted brembo red..

  • Yeah pretty darn good :) I'm glad I didnt go any bigger :) the push in a seat happens from go to the limiter @6500rpm :D and cruising is effortless :) chews up more fuel around town but longer runs uses bugger all. Sounds mint ;) and love how she wiggles her @ss end sitting at the lights :D

  • Watch the exhaust tips from about 34 seconds onwards.. they move a sht load lol and when the cars off they are firmly held in place..
