I've been a christian for about 15 years now and am just really learning about the rapture. There are many thoughts on this but why is the idea of the rapture a modern notion? No one preached it 100yrs ago so whats changed? Anyone?

@whatnamesnottakenyet NO such thing as the rapture, that was designed for you not to pay attention to the times and when the anti-christ rises the people who believed in the rapture will believe his is the saviour. The rapture is a tool used by satan to lure people way from the end times and Jesus true return. IT is not untell Jesus returns that you will be brought up with him. THAT is after the tribulation.

@BizaroMustard100.not sure on that..preachers avoiding end times stuff..Revelation,Daniel etc. the argument the rapture isn't in the bible. The specific word may not be but the teaching is in 1st Thes 4:16 being "caught up" rapture-to be carried away so a misunderstanding. It's been in the bible clearly. The debate of when which having studied pre-trib makes the most sense and is backed by alot of scripture. The end times stuff is definitely taking off though! Also 1948 w/Israel opened eyes.

Christmas is celebrated on 12/25...where did you get the 22nd? Also, there is no evidence in the Bible for Jesus being born then...he was actually born in the spring or fall when the shepherds would herd their sheep due to the warmer weather. Also, the early Christians/Jews did not celebrate their own birthdays...only pagans did that according to the Bible. 12/25 is based on roman sun god worship and the "church" (catholics) compromised to appease the romans.

Jesus was a good man but Nostradamus also gave out prophecies, and according to many people, they have been 'fulfilled'. the problem with prophecies is that they aren't precise. First, I'm not married, so, no I have never committed adultery, not even in my own heart (neither has God, incedentally).

Second: If I am a god, as the bible says, then I decree my own sins forgiven. No one has to die for the forgiveness I offer. Aren't I a good God? The Bible says only God can forgive sins, so as a god, my forgiveness should be as valid his.

The fact is, you see God's love as being secondary to his justice. I think that's wrong: 1John 4:8 God is love.
