thanks 13horselvr. My horse busted her halter and its some distance to get a new one as there are no places nearby that sell it. Your video isnt professional but I appreciate your effort and desire to share this tip, however you learnt it. Now I have and alternative until I get a new halter.

Hehe I have the same leadrope but in blue. :) Great video by the way, I actually had to move my horse the other day without having a halter handy and I managed to loop it around his head somehow but this way looks much easier and like it stays in place better. I agree, it's for if you need something to lead/hold them quickly and you don't have a halter right there, obviously not an everyday thing (not sure why someone would suggest that though?). Very patient horse too! Good girl Lady! :)

@Llamasrock03 Horses aren't cheap but then how much you end up spending (never cheap, just less expensive...) totally depends on the individual horse, what you want to do with the horse and how much the maintenance costs are. The money cost can be the difference between shoeing vs barefoot (if it's an option), if you have your own grazing, how easy the horse is to keep, the type and age of horse based on what you intend to do etc. I figure my horse averages around $80 NZ per week.

What i do, i put the end of the rope through the first opening in the clippy thingie and then wrap the other end round the horses nose then again put the end through the other opening and it makes a lead/halter :)

I actually used this today out of the blue! I was putting MTG(mane tail growth) on my mares mane as it is patchy and not growing. I finished with her and went for my Arab to put some on her tail. I realized that my MFT's halter was not going to fit her. As my MFT has a small head and can fit in a yearling halter or standered donkey. But the lead rope did! I watched this a few months ago and BAM I remember and used it. It is very useful! Thank you!

@fresiansrus at least you had a lead rope. I ended up having to chase my horse all over the lawn when she got out and when I did manage to catch her I had to use the long bobbly things on my hat and put those around her neck like a dog collar :s

THis is important to know. at my riding club, my friends horse pulled back and snapped her halter in half, then ran around the parking lot (next to a busy road) my friend freaked out and I snatched her leadrope and caught the horse and did this. ;)

i got to an equestrian center because i cant afford a horse XD i know that's sad but anyway we had to put of a halter and take the horse out to the field but his alter was on a different horse because this guy was stupid and lost his so i did this and i managed to take the horse out thanks fr making this video it helped :)

I did this quite some times before with my horse too, it'w working fine for leading him to the pasture :) just as long as you keep an eye on the rope because some ropes easely slip away from the "clicky thing" :p

ones I wanted to let him eat some grass but he was wearing a briddle, so I used the leash of our dog to make a halter like this :)

and I even made a halter with a scarf ones, just for fun

I used this trick when we lost one of my barn horses halters andi went in the field to get him and one if my friends saw and she got so mad at me. I told her what you told the other person the questioned you before. It bugs me when other people think they know more than you do.

@0HoRsEsGiRl0 no as you can see it hits all the same pressure points as a halter would and if were to tighten up it do not tighten under the throat it tightens under the jaw if you have even used a stud chain it would be around the same effect but not as much pressure
