  • you seem like someone i should be asking this,my new coach makes me do a full snatch (and clean) with the weights i easily power snatch , not that i catch and squat , but ha makes me give a second pull only enough to get the bar high enough for me to catch it at the dead point , i think that would affect the explosiveness of the second pull , what do you think ?

  • haha... thats a lot for power snatch geez

  • I am going to guess that before he was a bobsledder that he was a competitive swimmer.

  • very nice job

  • I think this man can do 150 but i see this weight bad walking

  • DAMN!

  • If you don't think Olympic lifters are as strong as power lifters see Pat Mendes.

  • @ajpurdon That makes no sense. The Power Lifter focus' on totally different lifts than the O Lifter. But one thing is for sure, the O lifter has more complicated lifts then the Power Lifter.

  • your incredible.

  • MIGHTY

  • for all of those who think that olympic lifts do nothing, I was in the same boat a few months ago, doing nothing but bench, squat, and deadlift for my track and field training.. But I had made little improvement in those lifts, and started doing olympic lifts in addition to my usual routine. Well a few months later, my olympic lifts have made significant gains, and my powerlifts have gone up too..

  • @Pasc9 +1

  • q bien =) te felicito

  • Talk about subtle glute max fibers.

    wow.

  • ok...fairplay, ive been watching all your posts for a long time.....have you had any improvement on this snatch? i notice it was posted in 2007

BTW other than the international standard OL on youtube.....you have by far the best teckers!

  • @DanielMays88 I switched sports shortly after this to Bobsleigh so I changed my training and have not worked on the snatch very much for the past 4 years. I did have a bunch of close misses with 141 snatch this year as I trained for a weightlifting meet for a few months but continued my Bobsleigh training at the same time.

  • @knobbers22 what training do you now do for bobsleigh?

  • I like powerlifting but seriously whats the point of snatchs ? I mean to work ur shoulders u do shoulder presses and to do ur back deadlifts... so why putting 2 very different strenghts into one action that can break your bones ??

  • @ArchAngelXIV

    1. This is not powerlifting.

    2. This is not bodybuilding.

    3. Snatches are one of two contest lifts in the sport of olympic weightlifting.

  • @ArchAngelXIV

Your lack of knowledge sticks out like a sore thumb. Powerlifting consists of 3 major lifts, squat, bench press and deadlift. Olympic lifting consists of 2 major lifts, snatch and clean and jerk. Bodybuilding is an aesthetic form of training based on isolated movements and beginner techniques. Snatches are the most difficult and demanding lift known. I would recommend reading something like Starting Strength if you actually want to learn about weight training.

  • @jmovechkin80 Yes I know about powerlifing, bodybuilding and strongman, but I mean In the actual real life what is the point of doing Olympic weight lifting, it wont make you real strong in real life you never do that moves so in Life that kind of strenght is mostly useless and it wont make you more muscular . Yes I do understand you get incredible strenght lifting like this , but in real life , does it really helps you in any point ??

  • @ArchAngelXIV

the point of olympic lifts is to move as much weight as you can as fast as you can, it works on your fast twitch muscles and makes you more explosive..something that your shoulder presses arnt going to do for you

  • @2jav3 I think your right, shoulder press will not make you explosive,, it will make you stronger, more muscular but not explosive... because everybody need to be explosive in that series of movement in life,,, (( sarcasm))

  • @ArchAngelXIV This is not meant to be rude, so please do not that it that way, but you sound a bit ignorant. There is carry over as to real life from the strength you gain through training. But there are other variables to consider, two of which are exclusive to each other. One is power, the ability to move very heavy weight as fast as you can, basically 85% of your max and up or 6 reps and below O-Lifters, Power Lifters etc. The other is Muscular, below 85%, above 6 reps.

  • @ArchAngelXIV part 2...What does that mean? It means that that body you have has the ability to either run like hell, or to pace yourself. Which one is harder? Power is harder, the bodies ability to drive the CNS(Central Nervous System) like that IS what makes most athletes elite athletes. Which is why a-lot of people shy away from stuff like O-Lifting, it's the hardest competitive lift to do. As you go over 6 reps, you start to cross into different types of strength, Hypertrophy, Strength

  • @mrceebees14 Its harder you say ? ask any of them to drop the weight by 50% and do a proper military shoulder press :)

  • @ArchAngelXIV What rep range are we talking about, because 50% is about 25-30 reps depending on the lift and if it's lower body or upper body. Give me more information.

  • @mrceebees14 I saw at my gym a oly lifter with 225 pounds snatch wich is not bad at all I guess because he's the only one I know that can do that BUT when its time to REALLY ask his shoulders to work ( shoulder presses, military press.... he's a pussy seriously like 35 pounds each side for 5-6 reps... soooo I guess Olylifting dont really make you strong,,, BUT powerfull,,,, these guys are still not strong ,,,thats why they never get to compet in WSMs...

  • @ArchAngelXIV Mikhail Kokylaev

  • @ArchAngelXIV Olympic lifting doesn't make you strong? This guy's channel has got a clip of him doing a 225+lb strict press-probably just above his bodyweight. And he's probably not even international class in weightlifting, although I do not konw this for sure .Also check out "Berestov 150kg press".Your opinions might change after that!!!!

  • @agbora +1

  • @ArchAngelXIV part 3 Endurance type 1 and 2 etc. But Power is always power, it does not cross barriers the way the higher reps do, why is that? Because Neuro drive like that you are either born with or not, you are either wired for it, or you become like most Humans, all capacity without power. When you train, you are training the CNS, how you use it is based on your training and your genetics. So carry over depends on a-lot of things, these are the VERY two basic.

    You understand?

  • @ArchAngelXIV You say the snatch 'won't make you strong' and then go on to say 'I do understand that you get incredible strength (from snatching)'. You can see how the way you're presenting your 'opinions' is confusing people

  • @dirtrail There is different kind of strenght,, olympic weight lifting are from the (white) muscles tissues wich are quicker but still if you look at it ,,, its a quick deadlift + a catch at the end BUT a deadlift with low weights..

  • @ArchAngelXIV Yes but their actual deadlift would be much, much higher than the 'deadlift' they perform as part of an olympic lift. If you think that the small deadlift portion of an olympic lifter's clean/snatch is a true reflection of that lifter's deadlift max then you really aren't thinking clearly at all. I think you would be surprised at how much these guys could deadlfit, if they wanted to.

  • Nice one!!

  • This is very immpressive

  • My snatch is so pathetic compared to my c&j, but practice practice and practice. You sir are a champ

  • Its good to see that there are people out there who still know how to perform these lifts. Keep up the good work man!

  • Its very good to see that there are people out there who still know how to perform these lifts. Keep up the good work man!

  • Solid lift, you made it look too easy.

  • yeaahh. thats what i like to see... lolzZ! cmaera guy

  • Great lift, man! Respect.

  • Mate, thats immence landed that perfectly! @SUBSCRIBED!

  • incredible. are you on a national team?

  • its just fun to drop it in weird ways. Theres footage of Bulgarians dropping huge backsquats in front of them, pushing the weight up then sneaking behind the bar. Anyway, it doesnt matter how you drop it as long as you finish the lift.

  • is it a failed lift if you drop it to your back?

  • FAKK! damn man!! i've just started doing this exercise.. is it best to start with light weights? i started with 40kg and increasing like 2.5kg every week.. just so i get the motion and the tech right..

pretty new in this exercise! looks so freaking awesome! =)

  • very nice welcome to see my lifts

  • HAHAHAHAHAAHH

  • the guy in the back round saying yah sounds like hes jizzing 0:03

  • LOL OMG YOUR RIGHT

    "yuuheahh"

  • @terryrouge He had a full two second pause at the bottom.

I would be jizzing too, do you know how hard that is?

  • that was freakin sweet

    why'd you dump it behind?

  • because hes a man and he was on his way to crush the camera.

  • Can you imagine having to bring over 140kg of weight in a controlled manor from over your head? Impossible with out screwing yourself up. Those olympic weights are built to be dropped.

  • No I understand that, but in competition when you dump behind it is considered a no lift. And I am not saying this wasn't a make but that dumping behind is a point of contention.

  • It isn't a comp and no one cares. If you have it under control (he clearly does) then he can do WTF he wants with it. If it was a comp he'd have dropped it in front.

  • very good form, but you caught it a little high. Im sure you caught that after the tape. good first and second pull, nice control, overall very good form. Nice work.

  • This is absolutely amazing. So many videos are on youtube that show horrible form, so thank you for showing the correct way of doing this. I just started learning the olmpic clean type lifts and while I know I can go heavier than what I do, I won't until my form is perfect. You inspire me to keep working at it!

  • He made it look easy lol

  • Jesus I can only CLEAN like 100 kilograms

  • ive never tried this but it looks really hard

  • Wow, perfect technique.

I can't even get the form right =\

  • truely inspiring

  • Beautifull!Mastery of the form.

  • made that look easy i struggle doing 50kg that sum gd lifting

  • holy fuck, i cant even clean that ... yet

  • fuck me thats a tough deadlift for me! think of the weak like me....

  • superb technique full control

  • Insane....

  • Hi Rob,

As a fellow weightlifter also, I'd like to say that your technique is very good. I'm in the heavy weight class. I'd like to know what your training protocol is. I too train 6 days weekly with a coach.

  • Yeah, I've gone through all this guy's videos and it's only too true - very good technique on all lifts. Very nice control on the bar at all times, and the bottom position of that snatch is very low and so stable, it's just a pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work.

  • Nice. What training gym is that?

  • You are a stud! Any tips you can give me on the snatch? I just started doing it about a month ago. I'm not very good. I can power snatch about 175lbs.

  • thanks, practice alot and learn to full snatch with a coach. It took me about 3 years to get to this point working with a weightlifting coach 3-6 times a week.

  • Hopefully, I can do that someday.

  • That looked super easy. I bet you are good for 150kg

  • droped the weight behind... no lift. jk that was nice

  • Awesome snatch! But I agree, the bumber weights make it look like 300 kg or so :P.

  • Slick.

  • nice snatch rob! cya at sea fest!

  • those huge bumper plates makin 140 pounds look like 800.... LOL just kidding great job, thats a lot of weight

  • 140 kg

  • lol i know i was juist kididng with u

  • I thought so but I have been surprised before

  • go senators
