Yesterday I heard this in the classic-radio - and my heart was full of romantic visions about china... so pure and so true - I hoped to find this part here in youtube - and gladly found it! But what a pitty: only a very short cut from that wonderful aria... you could put more of those pices - surely this would make so many people glad!
this is such a wonderful and intelligent production (Peter Konwitschny) - one of the best operettas I have ever seen. Full of understanding for the music and the characters. Not a single note nor move without á deep motivation. WOW! An the orchestra (unfortunateley you can't hear it very well on the video) did a woderful job too (it was Petrenko I guess), so you could hear that this piece was really written in the 20th centuy, full of chormatics and tensions. just perfect expererience!
@eszet2000 You are so right. The idea behind this scene- the Prince getting ready for the party is an excellent one; one I've not seen before done like this- normally its a solo, here he has his servant helping him. It adds to the drama. Very very good.
was für eine schöne Stimme... ich erlebte ihn in grade in Das Rheingold und ich bin sehr von ihm begeistert gewesen :)
