You could certainly do the same thing with the Uno. However, if I were to do this same project again I’d look into the Freetronics EtherTen (100% Arduino compatible board). I try to stay true to the real boards when possible but this nice Freetronics offering includes the Arduino compatible board, the Ethernet connection, the Micro SD slot, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) all in one! You could power the board from the same PoE switch that’s powering the Cisco phone.
I am going to use this system to lock and unlock the door and turn on and off all utilities (like electricity and internet) to my home datacenter that operates a network for my entire street as well as my small business.
Awesome! Only thing is - a red LED turning on at that brightness, I would recommend getting a bigger resistor. Other than that, great job! Does the phone service allow for menus? Example being could you have an LED menu which would then direct you to the LED enable/disable functions. Thanks!
The phone services are driven by XML so the menu systems can become very advanced, the possibilities are almost endless. In the Cisco IP Service SDK they provide examples of calendars, stock tickers, and weather reports. I’ve stumbled across a few neat apps that include a Gmail Notifier and a torrent bandwidth monitor.
will this work with my arduino uno?

@NateStrech
Wow. Those are all things that would be very neat. And the link in your other reply helped a bunch. Thanks!
