  • Seems so strange that so many of the 50's and 60's stars died in plane crashes, especially as Hawkshaw Hawkins died with Cowboy Copas and Patsy Cline, but there were so many others i.e. Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Richie Valens, Jim Reeves to name but a few.,

  • A very great singer singing one of Willie Nelson's classic compositions. His life as well as the rest all cut way too short. :(

  • Solid.

  • Love to listen to Hawkshaw Hawkins' Columbia sides. Is it possible that you may be adding more from this album in the future? I have been searching for Patanio for years so that my baby sister could hear it as well as the entire album. Thanks for posting this song.

  • Oops. Patanio is what I meant.

  • Need to hear paranoid pride of the plains. I've looked for it a long time. He was sure a good singer! I also liked "put a nickel in the jukebox" great stuff!

  • this is my grandpaa!

i heard he was a great man.

i wish i could have meet him.

  • @jenga1011

I was fortunate enough to see him live on the Grand Ole Opry in 1960. And I grew up in Camden, Tennessee where the plane crashed.

  • These guys left us tooooooooooooooooo soon.

  • This guy is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

  • sounds like johny cash awesome style awesome singer shame he had to leave so soon

  • I am a big vintage classic country fan and Lp collector and did not realize the talent of this man. He was great!

  • My favorite Hawkshaw song love it.

  • the hawk was incredible. a true rattlesnakin' daddy. i love his version of shotgun boogie

  • @rorygg1 agreed

  • One of the best country voices and man, could he pick the guitar. ...Bill

  • did willie write that song

  • Yes, Willie Nelson wrote this gem.

  • love you Grandaddy Hawkshaw:)

  • Do you have Hawkshaw's version of "Patanio, The Pride of the Plains"? I have heard other versions but his is the best. Thanks.

  • excellent!

  • Love Hawkshaw Hawkins.

  • Alot of people associate Hawk ONLY because of him perishing with Patsy&Cowboy Copas but he was a legend in his own right-just like Patsy & Copas was!The man could sing-NO DOUBT!!Excellent video!!!

  • blows my head off......thanks

  • This is very good!

  • Great!

  • Hawkshaw is an underrated country singer, such a shame.

  • You are right!

  • @seonfox Yea probaly because people find the death of Patsy Cline moretragic even though Hawk and Cowboy Copas died in the same crash

  • @MyJustified

All three of them were great, but among them Hawkshaw is my favorite

  • Just another great song by a Awesome singer.

    Thanks for sharing

  • yeah, it is a shame that the "Jim Reeves," tree of country music died out so soon. It was the Patsy Cline plane wreck, then Jim Reeves Plane. Those were the two that kept this tree of country music around. Eddy Arnold and Jim Ed Brown couldn't quite keep it alive. And Roy Drusky did not help out much either. The only remaining branch we have to this style of country is Jim Ed Brown unless someone else breaks through which is doubtful.

  • Yes!so true, and Hawk just started to really have a great future in country music with his big hit "Lonesome 77203" he was going to go to the top, but somehow it wasn't meant to be. He was agreat enternainer and friend!

  • Same with Patsy Cline, she was finally at the top where she deserved to be for years. I wish she would have driven home with Dottie West but I understand she was in a hurry to get home to her babies.. :(

  • Yes that's true, and Hawk was so kind hearted to give up his seat on Delta, to help someone else out. he was a real gentleman!

  • I AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE MY FRIEND
