Seems so strange that so many of the 50's and 60's stars died in plane crashes, especially as Hawkshaw Hawkins died with Cowboy Copas and Patsy Cline, but there were so many others i.e. Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Richie Valens, Jim Reeves to name but a few.,
Love to listen to Hawkshaw Hawkins' Columbia sides. Is it possible that you may be adding more from this album in the future? I have been searching for Patanio for years so that my baby sister could hear it as well as the entire album. Thanks for posting this song.
Need to hear paranoid pride of the plains. I've looked for it a long time. He was sure a good singer! I also liked "put a nickel in the jukebox" great stuff!
Alot of people associate Hawk ONLY because of him perishing with Patsy&Cowboy Copas but he was a legend in his own right-just like Patsy & Copas was!The man could sing-NO DOUBT!!Excellent video!!!
yeah, it is a shame that the "Jim Reeves," tree of country music died out so soon. It was the Patsy Cline plane wreck, then Jim Reeves Plane. Those were the two that kept this tree of country music around. Eddy Arnold and Jim Ed Brown couldn't quite keep it alive. And Roy Drusky did not help out much either. The only remaining branch we have to this style of country is Jim Ed Brown unless someone else breaks through which is doubtful.
Yes!so true, and Hawk just started to really have a great future in country music with his big hit "Lonesome 77203" he was going to go to the top, but somehow it wasn't meant to be. He was agreat enternainer and friend!
Same with Patsy Cline, she was finally at the top where she deserved to be for years. I wish she would have driven home with Dottie West but I understand she was in a hurry to get home to her babies.. :(
thank you for sharing this video and the pic's are great too. did he and Jean Shepard ever sing together. I am an old fan of Jean Shepard, her voice is so wonderful , I just found a video of her sing Dear John. Brought back a lot of memories of watching My Mother sing along as her songs played ont he RADIO

A very great singer singing one of Willie Nelson's classic compositions. His life as well as the rest all cut way too short. :(

I was fortunate enough to see him live on the Grand Ole Opry in 1960. And I grew up in Camden, Tennessee where the plane crashed.
