i have met DAVID GILMOUR! when floyd has been my first love all of my life then i get david gilmour standing behind me in the hotdog line at ZIPPOS circus in brighton MY home town!!!!!! =)))))))))))))))))))
This is a very nice album, and a very underrated one... Pink Floyd had some albums that are pretty obscure like ummagumma, atom heart mother or music from the fillmore (More), but those albums kind of deserve it. I do declare that you can find some good tunes there like green is the colour or Careful with that axe Eugene...
I have been a follower since 1968,I was 13 when my older brother turned me on to Pink Floyd.I first saw Pink Floyd in Philly in1970.I cant believe it's been 42 yrs. There is no better music than Pink Floyd.
this song is so weird, being instrumental makes it even more emblematic, it sounds like Breathe, Celestial Voices and so many other songs it s like an overview of the band but still misterious
@luizmrtt Completely agree, I've ever though R.W. Wright is (was) just the esensse of Pink Floyd... Pink Floyd wouldn't be the same without the keyboards of R.W. Wright.
I don't have the technical ability, but I have a copy of the film. Is anyone going to match up the music to the film? Since the scene in the original production did not use this music, but as an afterthought they could be matched up very effectively.
@dlm9293. I' ll try to translae:" Pink Floyd in pure condition What important that were Wright's keyboards by those years. A slightly virtuous musician but always putting the just climates. What unjust that was Waters with him. After the death of Rick, Pink Floyd separated definitively and in a least awaited way
@Ucumar10 oh...well thats very true wright played a huge role in defining their sound in those days..and its also true that waters was kind of a dick...especially towards rick wright
@pocketkiller123 Quizás me expresé mal .
OBC was the third pre-DSotM album I ever acquired in July, 1987 on cassette tape (I had Piper and Saucerful on A Nice Pair). Takes me back to age 11 in mid summer 1987 and blasting this out of my old Panasonic tape deck hidden in a New England Patriots gym bag on the handlebars when I'd take my old BMX bicycle for a spin either around the neighborhood or to the local store to buy soda and candy. This tune (and Burning Bridges), Wots...Un the Deal, Stay and Childhood's End are standouts IMHO!
I've been a PF fan for about 20 years now, but never heard this album until about 4 years ago. I love it.
I of course knew about Dark side and The Wall, and all of the stuff they played on the radio. And even from long ago knew about Animals, Wish you were here, and some others from being in record shops, but never had even heard of this album before i found it.
And i found it..... literally :-DDD
It was in the CD player of a use car I bought, lololol. What a great surprise :-D
nope 'fraid not - they didn't play it as far as I know - there are a couple versions of childhoods end / obscured by clouds / when you are in out there - but they are fairly rare and scratchy
Maybe someone would say I'm crazy but for 20 years of listening Pink Floyd I always considerred Obsured by Clouds the best work. I don't understand why it is so underrated
Whoever gave u a thumbs down is obviously a moron. I'm the biggest Floyd fan you'll meet and I agree with you 100% My favourite album and this is my favourite song!
It is Pink Floyd, and with that said, it is as if there is not a weak song in their entire catalogue. So therefore it can rightfully be considered their best work. The only thing is OBC is a movie soundtrack if I'm correct, and is widely built around instrumental work, so therefore it doesn't get the radio airplay it should. Great music from Floyd nevertheless.
@TWern9 You will be surprised. Obscured by Clouds was the first Pink Floyd studio album to crack the American Top 50 reaching #46 in 1972 and is musically the missing link between Meddle and Dark Side. FM rock stations played "Free Four" back in 1972 pushing the album up the charts paving the way for Dark Side in 1973. This album I literally thank God (on hands and knees as I say this) was rightfully included on the band's 16-CD Oh By the Way box set in 2007.
@micho0001 I agree. I've listened to floyd since mid 70's, and this is my favourite album ( though meddle is a close second ) Very listenable and accessible.
@micho0001 just because Floyd themself underrate it: have you read Nick Mason's book? He doesn't say much about it. I read it hoping he would talk more about this and other albums...
Yes, I know. That's why I was very happy when I heard David and Roger playing Wot's uh the deal during On an Island tour. They really looked like they where enjoying themselves.
@micho0001 I will say you that "Obscured by Clouds" is one of my fovorites albums. It's an extraodinary work, I cannot say that I considerred the best -'coz, for me Pink Floyd is a great phenomenom in music- but you say right when you say that is UNDERRATED, AND NOBODDY KNOWS WHY...
@HomeroBabun i guess Obscured by Clouds is underrated because it is "obscured by other masterpieces".... i mean, i guess it's normal to start to listen to their "main" works before listening to their soundtracks... not because the main works are better... simply cause they are their main works
I'm 14 and I'm unsure as to why but this music seems to age you, like modern music is extremely childish and promotes a regression to simplistic clandestine barbaric ways while this... seems to move us forward. Even the early psychedelic stuff with Syd is deeper than most of the same inane self-pitying dribble out there today. Sorry for rambling...
ughhh yeahh I am 14, I do have above average intelligence for my grade and am in honors classes at my high school. If you want proof I'm the girl with glasses in the videos at my channel.
this might be the 1st video i ever watched on youtube when i 1st discovered it 2 years ago & it's still one of my favs i still watch it about once a month
That's not true, you're basiclly boothing our entire generation, and that's just narrow minded. Picture this, a person can listen to 50 Cent, and enjoy that music for what it is, and still enjoy King Crimson or Pink Floyd's Ummagumma. No need to beat down people because of what they listen too, you should rather respect those people and introduce them to what you consider good music.
lol if you listen to mainstream shit chances are your a faggot because music that needs no talent just a face put in front of a corporation thats developed the music is pathetic
Come on there are some things you would question listening to no matter what age. I questioned listening to some things at age 12... And you should question
If Syd were to be in this album and every other Pink Floyd album, theres no telling of how much better Pink Floyd would have been, but Waters and Gilmour definetly raised Pink Floyd correctly after Syd created it ... Great music, Great album, Great Band
If Syd was on all of these, I'm under the impression the songs would have not been like this at all. They would have remained psychedelic rock and been shorter and lighter.
Yeah, It was mine as well. Kind of makes me feel weird, because most Pink Floyd fans heard their more mainstream songs first. I came across it by accident, too. I just thought the song title sounded cool. =P
I saw pink floyd live 8 to many people were there just to see them play for 20mins thats show how much people really like or want to see the play or a reunion.

You should make yourself even more popular in Youtube by sayin "Pink floyd wrote dogs" at most watched videos as well :P

Nah, cause then I wouldn't be able to back up my arguement that at least it's relevant.

It's too bad that they switch youtube to stereo right around the time they start disableing videos with copywrighted music on it :(
What's even worse for me anyway is my head set broke off in the headphone jack, so I can only get half the song now.
Don't get all excited, though. I'm still gonna go around saying "Pink Floyd wrote 'Dogs'".

It is probably strange, but this was actually the first Pink Floyd song I ever heard. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I love it so much.
joaofelixsilva 3 years ago
Yeah, It was mine as well. Kind of makes me feel weird, because most Pink Floyd fans heard their more mainstream songs first. I came across it by accident, too. I just thought the song title sounded cool. =P
