can you tell me what the movie did that was so bad to the graphic novel? I haven't read the book, but i want to. Is the LXG book seroius or something? What did the film do that was so bad, besides being a dumb popcorn action flick, adapted from something that didn't seem that seroius to begin with? P.S. i hope i don't sound sarcastic, i really am just wondering
This might make sound like I'm not a watchmen purist but I like that they changed the ending. It was the only part of the graphic novel that seemed to have character dissonance
That was actually a perfect fact file of the comic and it's journey to become a film i think any person who didn't read the comic should have seen this video before seeing Watchmen. Because it just gives you all the information necessary to understand why this film is what it is. Great job on the video.
The only thing my brother (18) knows about comics are Naruto and bleach mangas. As for American comic, just what comes out on WB and the theather. When he saw this movie, he was totally blown away by it. When he went to talk about it with his friends, they thought it was the dumbest movie ever. Same thing with my circle of friends.
Personally, it got me to read the og material. Plus, I enjoy learning more about the whole world that was created. That's what the book was for.
Watchmen did not show what "superheroes" would be like if tehy really existed - Moore tried to depict the Leftist worldview as true, and used parodies of American superhero archetypes to press his own atheism and anarchist ideology on the reader.
Watchmen's biggest fans buy into this worldview without question. As for me, I found the actual comic to be annoying - but I must admit, I really liked the film (in part because many of Moore's digs on American culture were lost in translation).
Gibbons didn't WRITE or CREATE jack shit, he was just the artist. Alan Moore writes PAGES of artist notes for the artist to draw...Gibbons basically had no actual creative in put other than simply drawing what Alan Moore wanted.
i am a big comic book dork & i had never heard of Watchmen (it came out 5 years after i was born). when i saw the trailer, when Jon was in the intrinsic field subtracter, i thought it was the Flash movie. i love the movie & got the GN DVD right after. maybe i'm a johnny-come-lately, but i dig Watchmen.
It's impossible to condense the full comic into a film, but you shouldn't be so quick to put it down. Lord of the Rings for example was a bigger undertaking and a lot of people were happy with the end result.
Im sure they could have done it perfectly but they have to cater to all the mainstream retards that dont have enough patience to watch a longer movie.
You said that Kevin Smith saw a THREE HOUR version of the film? Holy SHIT!!!! I hope it's three hours though, that way it just might have EVERYTHING from the graphic novel. Great video.
Very good vid! You perfectly explained all the noteworthy points of interest surrounding the Watchmen property as a whole. Provides great perspective.
Nice video. Enjoyed it. I whole heartedly agree that this movie wont come close to the comic, and if fans are going to scrutinize it against the graphic novel then they are going to be sorely disappointed. Personally, I hope it stands alone as a good/great movie that holds faithful to the original graphic novel. And after seeing the trailer, watching the video blogs and hearing the interviews I think it will do just that.

I'm still hoping there will be some sort of horrible incident which stops this film from being screened. I enjoyed your vid.
