Frankly, I think Beyonce's version of this song is fantastic. Her voice is crystal clear and the tones sweet. Etta James would have sounded much better if she hadn't been a smoking, boozing, heroin addict who wished she could have produced the sounds Beyonce can. She is expressing her bitter disdain at her own mistakes when she complains about Beyonce being selected to sing at the Neighborhood Ball instead of herself. Move on Etta. Your days have come and gone.

Apparently somebody forgot to invite Etta James to the Inaugural Ball. Also, they could have been considerate enough to ask her to sing the song she made famous, at least at one of the many balls. My guess as to why Etta said such derogatory things about Beyonce and Obama!
