  • ooooh now that's a bad case of napping lol rider handled it well only thing i would have done would be stop past the gate as stopping at the gate was what the horse wanted

  • Although you can't see properly this horse appears to be hypersensitive to rein contact when approaching the fence. It may have been socked in the teeth by previous rider & rearing is a way to prevent this. Its also shows little understanding of the stop response [after the fence] I'd be interested to know from 'horsetrainer' whether this is the case? The horse looks physically uncomfortable.

  • Any rider should view rearing as a problem & not the horse just being naughty - its either psychological or phsyical! Obviously the physical should be ruled out first. If not physical & psychological, it is a 'conflict' behaviour which is brought about by incorrect riding - reinforcing incorrect behaviour, overt rein contact, kicking and pulling at the same time! Punishment is not a good learning tool. Reinforcing correct behaviour is! I'm sure this rider has inherited this problem.

  • Well.. you really know how to stay on a horse!!! Great job! ^_^

  • Guys, whoever is saying she is not training correctly, needs to re watch the video. Though she may tap him with the crop, she also rewards him when he has done well. And that is how a good horse is made. Props to her.

  • Get forward FIRST! this horse is NOT halter broke, let alone ride it

  • horse: lemme out now bitch!

    trainer: dont think so!

    EAT IT! PERFECT

  • Comment removed

  • Oh yeah! Coz hitting him is really gonna help! Call yourself a horse trainer. that's so low. You should be ashamed. Teach your horse properly, then maybe it will eliminate the whole rearing/bucking problem!

  • @horsewhisperer8897 haha well dont know anything do you? if your horse was rearing, then im pretty sure you wouldnt be rewarding it. a crop isnt going to hurt the horse, and the way she used it was not in any bad, cruel manner. my mare used to have a horrible rearing problem. and i didnt eliminate the problem by rewarding her when she did it, i gave her a smack. she got it through her head it was wrong. i think you should think twice before you say comments about something you dont know.

  • @anees1996 when did i say in my comment to reward the horse? what ever worked for you thats fine i dont give. my opinion is that you shouldnt hit, you can train without it but that doesn't mean to reward the horse.

I should think twice? learn to read. when did i say reward. jeeez.

  • he has a gorgeous rear O_o . awsome job staying on

  • smashing a egg on the head was the old way of doing it :)

  • Thats horse has some talent to be rearing while cantering! Nice riding!

  • wow! that horse was out of control!!!! from what I could see, but you did a great job of correcting him!

  • @ILuvChocalate6 WTF that horse isn't out of contoll you obviosuly dont know what an utof controll horse is

  • @aridxxluv excuse me but I dwasn't talking to u, and yes I have seen out of control, I have an OTTB and I have handled him at his worst, and anyway yeah, if he was pefectly in control, he wouldn't be rearing up.

  • @ILuvChocalate6 and both my 6year and 2 year are OTTTB's ....... funy way of chosing your words you say handdled but have you actualy riden them ........ and also i never said he was in perfect controll i just said that that rider was still in controll.... but the horse wasn't out of controll in anyway or form it was just misbehaving and someone who has OTTTB's would know that :)

  • @aridxxluv Are you trying to pick a fight!? yes I jump him up to 3 feet, and I have taken him to 2 different shows, he was very good for me at both of them. I was very proud of him. I ride him every other day. You can find him in my videos, but sadly I don't post him being a spazz. and I'd really appreciat if you would just leave me alone now, because I don't like fighting w/ people who can't fight back. If u don't believe me watch my videos, he is the dark bay named MAson

  • @ILuvChocalate6 im NOT picking a fight i dont do that and if i wanted to i would of chose my words alot different and i would of been trying to piss you off i was just saying that horse isn't out of controll its not my fault you took it the wrong way

  • @ILuvChocalate6 im NOT picking a fight i dont do that and if i wanted to i would of chose my words alot different and i would of been trying to piss you off i was just saying that horse isn't out of controll its not my fault you took it the wrong way i just hate seeing people making the stupid mistake and calling horse out of controll when there clearly not

  • @aridxxluv and Im positively sure your 2 yr old hasn't everr raced, my OTTB has raced before I got him

  • @ILuvChocalate6 where are you in the world..... cause different countrys have different rules and alos they start training at 12months

  • Whats wrong with his hind end?

  • how old is this horse?

  • my horse rears up a lot. You lean FAR forward and thwack them between the ears so they think they just hit their head. the egg thing doesent work

  • Good job!

  • after watching horse trainers like klaus ferdinand hempfling, I would not want this to be seen if I where you

  • good seat

  • That horse REALLY need some more training! rearing is SOOOOOO dangerous, ut goos job for staying on!

  • It almost looks like the horse either is trying to avoid jumping or doesn't like passing the gate. Either way, she handled him amazing... for not panicking and for not getting on his mouth and pulling him over.

As for hitting him on the head... He is a HUGE animal and it is way too dangerous to let them do that stuff. She just popped him in between the ears as a firm "NO." Not abuse. A scolding.

  • some people are so rude in their comments.

was she asking for critisism.... no.

just keep you mouths shut and you opinions to your self.

  • Agreeing with ecp339 here... get it checked

  • First off, great job for staying on, keeping the horse from flipping over, and working through it. Kudos!

However, this horse has SERIOUS problems if his tantrums include rearing. Maybe it would be a good idea to focus on flatwork, especially in that area of the ring if he doesn't care for it, and overcome the rearing problem before trying to jump him? And maybe work in a slightly larger area so you aren't forced to stop (and reinforce the bad behavior) when he refuses?

    GREAT job though!

  • And an Awsome Trainer she is doing everything right. I have trained horses for 9 years! Good Job girl!.

  • She is not abusing the Horse, I use parelli as well And I mean Ive ridden Horses That have almost flipped over on top of me cause they Rear My mare was one Of them. If you smack a horse over the head They often think they are hitting their head And will stop the action. Im not saying it always works But for the majority it does. And its not Abuse. If a horse has and is not listening to any other methods of correction Then other things need to happen. This lady is an Awsome rider.

  • you are a VERY good rider my friend...i would have been off at 1:14

  • I've watched some of your other videos, your horse, in all off them, acts out in the same place in the ring each time. Makes me wonder if this isn't be cued for a more dramatic video. Either that or your hose is trying to let you know s/he is uncomfortable/lame and you're ignoring it. You call yourself a trainer....sometimes the trainer needs some training themselves.

  • Sometimes horses or ponies can rear or buck by gates because they get spooked by somthing that spookes them so it's not horses folt he probely just got spooked =)

  • someone quick, hand her an egg! lol

  • This horse needs an attitude adjustment and the rider needs more education. I really don't understand why this horse is constantly getting away with this behaviour.

  • @jinxedcm hes obviously not getting awat with it if she keeps correcting him idiot.

  • @horsedude12 learn to spell idiot. You're replying to a comment from a long time ago, are you kidding me? You honestly can't find better things to do?

  • Oka here's what really gets me really upset is that most all horse trainers go to abuseing the horse if it doesn't do what its sopposed to..like hitting it on the head with your hand, as hard as you can, is NOT right..i treat my horse with love and respect and she treats me the same.

  • Comment removed

  • Look, there's a big difeerence between a pat on the head, then abusing a human being. So quit using that as an 'excuse' for trying to get people against her.

I train horses using parelli techniques, which is natural horsemenship and I am against all kinds of smacking, spurs, harsh bits ETC, but i understand what she's doing is not a form of abuse, sometimes horses need one smack to learn, if she was doing it after everyone, yes that wouldn't be good.

  • and lemme guess, he's 18+yrs old and you've never trained a difficult horse or broken out a hot-headed colt in your life? Look at my videos, I'm certainly not about abuse or hitting, but she's not hurting him, and he's being dangerous. Would you suggest she offer him a cup of tea? Be reasonable. He needs to be corrected soon or he'll hurt someone, or himself.

Save the horse training advice for the TRAINERS

  • @gryphonkeen ok so u started from some where right? u werent some great from the start and y dont u keeep ur moth shut at people who are trying to learn.... and u know what she did a great jod and u bitching at her isnt right ! and u know whaat im 14 and im ridding a green horse no problems there eh? people on youtube can be suckh asses and i wonder y?

  • @gryphonkeen is it bc there all to good for us now or bc we live in a free country and they think there advice is better than anyone elses ! i dont think so and u know what u dont know what this horse is like its a fucking video this horse could be madly nuts and she could be handling him great here and u wouldnt know the difference... good job!

  • @saddleclub123me This lady hitting the horse with her hand is NOT abusing the horse! She's probably not even a 120 pound woman - with an 1100+ pound horse. This horse is being naughty and dangerous. This horse is lucky that it has an owner that cares enough to send it to this trainer. Most horses like this get shipped to Canada or Mexico for slaughter.

  • looks like a severely gate sour mount you have on your hands. my horse was a flipper when i got her, hope you work through it.

  • your horse Is Stiff

  • to me it looks like a very stressed, untrained, unwilling and a horse in pain. its trot and canter is stiff and after jump the head goes up. back problems?

no wonder its rearing only by the door - there's the jump to do.

  • @dumpty91 he wouldnt be going over the just if he was so fucking untrained! do you REALLY think that horse is untrained? thats the stupidest thing i've ever heard. if this horse was UNTRAINED this rider would obviously not be taking it over jumps.

  • What I do not understand is, why this rider seems to have so much of these bucking and rearing problems. :S

To me it means that something is wrong somewhere...

Yes the rider does stay on very well, but the horses must have learned that rearing gets the pressure off or something... those are pretty serious rears and this is not the only video with these problems.

Of course everyone has problems especially with young horses, but they usually try once and thats it...

  • she's a horse trainer, she trains people's problem, young, green and difficult horses.

  • good rider :)

but it odversilly has soething wring with the horse :/

  • You would think that if the horse was in pain, that the animal would show the same behavior throughout the exercise, not around the opening of the indoor ring.

Personally, I would use a crop. But, not on the head. Just where you'd normally use it.

  • Comment removed

  • Ride with a crop so every time he does it wack him hard on the top of his head but praise him when he is good.

  • yeah apparently that makes them think that when they rear there hitting there head on somthing and are less likly to rear if fear of hurting them selves

but its just a theary ya never know

  • very good rider......

  • lmao nice stay on ... that horse neads to smarten up...what if he is in pain cuz i dont know any horse that would just rear over and over again lol any way hope he gets out of it

  • well i do not agree with the hitting but he needed to be corrected! He is obviously a napper and wants to go back to the barn he is acting up to get out of work I know a bunch of horses who will stop or run out of the gate! It is not fun. I don't agree with hitting it on the head a tap on the butt or shoulder would be fine. or just ride through it!

  • Yeah I agree with you there, but there is a superstition that hitting a horse on the head makes the horse believe that he has hit something, so he will instinctivly come down. But that generally does more harm to the horse than good unfortunatly =(. You should correct the horse, not punish them generally, but sometimes they do need telling.

  • Yeah I've heard of that one. Its a really stupid idea. In the end if you do do that the horse will probaly go back to its only ways later. Its only covering up the problem, it doesnt stop the horse from rearing altogether. The horse wont stop because it respects you, it'll stop because it then wants to stop, ignoring the rider altogether. If it works as well as people say then it wont even think it had anything to do with the rider. You have to look futher than a quick fix.

  • Maybe a coincidence but always rears by the gate? Seems like a severe napper to me!!

  • I agree with FreddyOgSigrid all the way.

He isnt being naughty there is something wrong. Whether it be pain, or sometime scaring him.

DO NOT hit the horse for being scared!!!

  • the horse isnt misbehaving, i can see that something is wrong. maybe it has some illnesses /bad tack / bad experience. NEVER HIT THE HORSE !

  • this is a really nice horse aside from the rearing... lots of potential, atleast from what i can see

  • well done. your so good with horses well sat. love the way you jst keep calm and keep goin bk to where the problem is and sortin it out. well done.

  • he has a gorgeous and majestic leap lol at least he looks good when doin that lol

  • yooh shouldn't whack a horse on th head ever!! hit their shoulder or butt.

  • Wtf, why would you not push him forward and make him go to work after doing that crap?? Are you nuts? No sane person makes a horse BACK UP after they have reared. No wonder he kept on rearing.

  • Very well handled x

  • i had a horse rear with me all the time.....good gob.

  • you did great to stay on!

  • my horse doesn't do that either but maybe that horse is just a special horse or it had made bad experiences with other riders.. her name on youtube is horse trainer so maybe she just rides horses who aren't normal..

  • Its not being cruel and the horse is not scared hes just being saucey to get out of doing work. Would you rather hit the horse to have it stop rearing or have it rear and flip back and hurt himself and you?

I think id chose the first option.

  • Yeah between :26 and :40 the horse looks really terrified.... If your gonna comment something like this actually know what your saying before you say it.

  • she probaly does that because then he would think that he is hitting something when he rears.. so that he wont do it again.. it worked with my sisters horse, and he stopped rearing..

  • if he is rearing, why would you do a reinback and pull on his face and not kick him forward?

  • That is exactly what I was thinking. Whack the horse on the head or go forward, don't keep asking it to go in the same motion that it wants to.

  • well he was being an ass!! nicely ridden i must say what was his problem

  • my horses never do that, oh maybe it's because i don't hit them

  • slapping in the neck is ok for good reasons... nut dont hit a horse on the head no matter what!! the only time i have had hard contact with my horses head was when we acidentaly head butted each other!

  • good job in staying in the saddle. don't hit ur horse!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nicely ridden and kept in the saddle!

  • Nice job staying on. His (horse's) hocks did look a little stiff.

  • i think she rode well and whatever she needs to do to stay on and correct the problem she should do.

  • from what i can see it looks like the horse has hock problems, it looks jagged in the back and cross fires, that could be the reason why the horse is acting up because it hurts to jump. you should probably get that checked. and hitting the horse in the head doesnt fix the problem it makes it worse, you could blind the horse or make the horse head shy. you should hit the horse behind the saddle or on the shoulder only if needed.

  • that was very calmly and well ridden. i have to say i did nt notice you hit the horse in the face but with out that well done

  • Or, she could not punish the horse and the horse could continue to show this dangerous behavior and potentially hurt/kill himself or the rider. I saw a girl at a show recently who did not correct or punish her horse for rearing at home because she did not want to "hurt" him and as she was mounting he reared so high he fell backwards, hit his head, and bled to death in a matter of minutes. Still sound abusive now?

  • I agree with asbfilly.... 100% ... I saw a horse go up and then over and really hurt the rider... Fortunately in this case the horse was fine... But rearing is the worst habit a horse can have! And when you are a little 100 and something lbs human a slap isn't going to hurt him at all.... But it will shatter his ego enough to make him think twice about it. You cannot let a horse walk all over you... Or they will hurt you, themselves or others.

  • the horse wouldn't rear all the time if he trusted his rider n his rider trusted him.

  • it's not necessarily a matter of trust, it's a matter of respect. i'm sure this horse is still rather young and in training, he needs to be taught this lessons early and soon before he hurts someone else. if your horse doesn't rear, then you have a respectful horse who was probably punished for rearing early on and never tried it again. i can almost gaurentee almost all green horses attempt this behavior but are corrected before it becomes a habit.

  • yeah i do

  • i don't get why u hit him in the face? why not behind the leg or on the shoulder?

    Just plain stupid

  • Its so they think they have hit their head on something so they dont want to do it again. Get your facts right.

  • I don't agree with the hit in the face part but for the rest this was a amazing ride. She has a nice jumping position this horse was slightly nutty, and she got the job done. I won't say I would never hit a horse in the face with a crop, especially when you have been under a mare that is doing her damn best to kill you. But for refusing a jump no I wouldn't.

  • it doesn't even look like your jumping a real jump. that is probably why the poor horse is refusing. and hitting a horse on its face.. you call yourself a trainer. i would never have you ride my horse.

  • I wonder if he has a vision problem... that jump is in an area that is more lit than other areas of the arena. Some horses (and people) have a harder time adjusting their eyesight to light and dark. Just a thought.

  • i dont know, but my friend have a horse with rearing problems, and she didint hit him but she tok a stick and touched his head so he would think that there was something above his head, roof ore something, and then i stoped rearing :S

  • I'm sorry but hitting a horse in face is asking him/her to be head shy. If I use a whip/crop, I tap their hind or behind my leg NOT their head.

  • Awesome trainer? Don't think so.

  • Okay please dont hit the horse like that thats not very smart

  • how old is that horse?

    is he a stallion?

  • How can a Horse Trainer justify hitting a horse on his head? The Poll is an extremly sensitive part of the horse. Becoming head shy is the least to worry about, being hit, or the horse banging it could be fatal!!! Would you like to be hit on the head by a whip? I am disgusted! You are showing a terrible example to your viewers! Any why are you pulling him backwards? this will just encourage him! use your legs to push him forwards and through it! you are ruining perfectly sound young horses!

  • i agree with you francesca999 completely. took the words out of my mouth. hitting a horse with a crop after a refusal is bad enough, on the face is just bad training. if you beat them for refusing, they are going to remember the pain everytime they come to that jump and that is just going to make jumping scary for the horse. your just going to make it worse.

  • blah blah blah

  • i think shes an awesome rider and trainer!

i would still be careful about hitting the horse on the head, coz it can make them head shy

but still think shes an awesome rider!

  • Like you'd know

  • i would have fallen down

  • NEVER hit a horse on it's head no matter how bad it's being ! NEVER !!!!!

  • only if it just tried or did bite you then you smack it on the nose

  • Yeah u can. U tap their nose when they nip and u tap them with a whip on the top of their head when they rear so they think they hit their head

  • nope u never hit ther head expecially wif a crop !

  • if u hit the pole on a horse it can cause brain damage since the brain is located right bwtween their ears. shows how much u no

that will cause a horse to become extremly head shy

  • I said tap not hit. And it does not. How come every horse I have owned has been fine its entire life? And I didn't say do it all the time. But if a horse bited you don't tell me your first reaction isn't to pop it in the nose. Usually it only takes once or twice for them to figure it out. Shows how much u no. Look things up before you post about them...

  • I agree a tap from the crop is not going to cause damage, other than emotional maybe. But if a horse bites me, rears over me, or kicks at me I will do my damn best to preserve my own life. I am pretty sure those here going "don't harm the little horsie" have never been in a dangerous situation. PUSH BUTTON SCHOOL HORSES do not qualify as "Training".

  • @JackaCrack1 coming from a girl that got bucked into a metal fence once and has a horse that bucks if you jump incorrectly: i totally agree! the last time my horse pulled something like that i first considered the fact that if i got off that would teach him that doing that would get me off, then i also considered that i had just mounted and was not in the arena yet and i was on hard ground with rocks in it and decided to bail out, lunge the horse, then get back on and continue my ride.

  • rein long... or?

  • ur a sick person

i serisouly hope u dont own horses

  • nice job! u really got after that horse, that was great. never let a horse get away with that!!

  • When that horse reard up like that you held on to his neck and that was very clever. Id probly fall. Very impressive.

  • OMG wow if that was my mare she be dead meat she wouldnt get away with it i wouldnt want her to get the chance to do it again thats just me though good job staying on!! and dealing with it well

  • Omg!! that looked really horrible! I hope your horse stops doing that... YIKES!

  • you know what he could do with?! a good galop in a biiiiiiiiig field!

  • god werent you scared

  • I've never tried it but my uncle used to ride horses alot and he had told me about breaking eggs over horses heads.

  • hitting the top of the head makes them think they hit something, some people break eggs or water balloons, it isnt just to hit the horse. this was very well handled, its very easy to lose your temper in situations like this and it shows real credit to the rider that she didnt.

  • I really don't like that idea, it just seems to cover up the problem, not solve it. The horse stops rearing because it things its hit something then, but it doesnt solve the whole problem. I've spoke to some trainers and they say often if you do that the problem with come back. I just don't think its a good idea.

  • Everyone has different ways to handle situations, one trainer I was with had her students get off and lunge the horse until they were tired when they reared, the trainer I have now has his students stay on and work through it. I think it all depends on the riders and the trainers experience, and whatever both are comfortable with =)

  • Yeah, I agree, but some ways work better than others.

  • Keeping feelings aside and not once getting frustrated is real skill. A lot of these people don't know what they are talking about and have probably never dealt with a rearing horse.

  • made me nervous when i saw you pulling back a bit on the reins the first time, but it worked out well! you have quite a talent

  • Nicely handled!

  • Could jumping be causing him pain by any chance? Just that my old cob used to do exactly the same when i jumped him.

  • my horse rears too and although I haven't tried the egg trick I carry my crop upside down and when he rears I growl at him and tap him between the ears it works pretty well. But i thought your timing was late. It isn't abuse because you aren't beating the horse, it just keeps you and your horse safer if they learn to stop rearing.

  • for godsake stop smaking the animals head

NEVER smack his head even if he doesnt do the jump

  • she smackss it on the top of the head when it rears to make him think that he hit his head

  • you don't smack his head because he is doing something wrong the idea of it is that the horse thinks he has banged his head off something when he rears therfore trying to discourage him from rearing

  • I think you guys have awesome balance, but do these vices ever get fixed. It just seems a little strange that your posting these videos of all of your training issues but your not posting any results. ??????

  • was that the same horse in the plastic flip out videoo ???

u r sooooooooo goooooood @ riding i would fall off @ the first buck

    11

  • can i use this clip???

  • she isn't in his mouth he just being an ass

  • yeah um wen they are rearing u are supposed to spin them in a circle or bend there head... exactly wat she did...

so dont act like you "know it all" if you obviously dont :)

  • i agree and when the horse does something wrong your not supposed to smack its head

  • that was one of the biggest rears i have eva seen!!!!!!!!! awesome riding

  • good tip lol but who carries around an egg when they ride?

  • noone but if your horse does rear alot then next time they ride they cud just carry one.

It just gives the horse an illusion of it's head bleeding and then they are forced not to rear agen because they dunt want to crack open their heads (this is an actual fact btw lol)

  • o lol that would be funny to see tho. and i bet that they would have to have really soft hands lol. :)

  • yeah probably lol :)

  • Do u work with a lot of problems horses? I feel like all ur videos are of high strung thoroughbreds.

  • What's wrong with his back end?

  • you are one hell of a rider!! GREAT JOB GIRL!!

  • haha the first time the horse reared I thought it was my horse lol...though I didnt realize that he stopped at a jumped or whatever he did but in my area there are bleachers in the corner and last year my tb mare would spin and rear straight up like 2 time in a row....its so annoying! she does it out side randomly too and then acts completly normal...

  • rather nappy

  • Is he young? He's gorgeous, i ride a horse just like that. He's a 3 year old thoroughbred. He's very slow, but can really throw out some big bucks, leaps, rears, ect. XD Good job handling him. && I love it how you pat him after he does good. That is essential for inexperienced horses.

  • woooo dat horse as a high rear and dat rider is amazin x

  • did he hit him in the head?

  • i think so:S

  • It looked and sounded like it.

  • wow your a great rider! i remember i had a grey mare that was a shoker for rearing with other ppl. but she only ever did tiny rears with me and was the funist horse to ryd. hes a beautiful horse to !!

  • I agree with Livbliss you are soo good with these horses. And you never get frustrated, a hard thing for me to avoid.

    Melanie

  • Wow he really didn't like that spot lol. But you did a great job

  • He was probably like HEY! It's the gate! I'm supposed to go through that now because I'm done with this shiz..LOL! :D

  • lol! I used to ride a spazzy Saddlebred that ALWAYS freaked at the gate. Or anything that moved for that matter haha.

  • You handle him extremely well. I admire your patience.
