From Thomas O'Boyle's (1998: p. 223) >At Any Cost<
"People chant Jack's slogans—speed, stretch, boundarylessness—without thinking intelligently about what they’re doing. {...} I’ve been stretched so much I feel like Gumby.” Markovitz quips. Then: “All Welch understand is increasing profits. That, and getting rid of people, is what he considers a vision,” Markovitz complained bitterly before his retirement. “Good people, tremendous people, have been let go, and it is hurting our business."
Funny, I don't hear any visions here! It sounded to me as if he connected being #1 or #2 in an industry with being visionary. C'mon. So, once again, little more than hot air from the great J.W. Debunk the myth!
