Can someone please explain to me..for someone who isn't a Cameraman, why are these shots throughout the show, pretty much on the money - an amateur Cameraman like Kimmel wouldn't have been able to pull off - non-staged shots ...No way was this legit. If this was legit, an amateur Cameraman wouldn't have been so confident with this framing...One would have been moving the laptop, quite frequently - so as to attain supreme framing. Unless he was a Production Tech at one time. Thoughts?

I wouldn't say they're on the money. You can see Jimmy keeps repositioning himself. And when he's talking to those audience members the shot is uncomfortably high, if it was staged the shot would've been lower. You're right an amateur would've been concerned with the framing and kept changing the angle but pros would realize constantly changing angles sort of breaks the flow and it's better to work around where the webcam was positioned. He also had his techs behind the laptop fixing the shots.

@jimmerhoft OK, I'll accept this response. Curious how you know if he had techs working the laptop...was under the impression he was "filming" the show. This is def. a reasonable response. Still a skeptic. No way a major show would do this without an ulterior motive e.g. product placement/PR/etc.. Make me believe, because I want to believe. An awesome idea, that actually got me hooked on Kimmel-from that day forward. Mmm...dunno - Still skeptical.

You know for all of you people complaining about how this can be fake, I don't think so. Jimmy did say that SOME power was working. The backup generators obviously helped with the light situation, and the power MIGHT have made the mikes work, but the cameras are the only thing that he said aren't working. Next time, listen to the whole video before saying anything.

This definately is unlikely to be real. If this was broadcast live, actually rigging up a laptop would be quite difficult. Definately longer than jimmying an extension cable from the other sockets in the building.

While a fuse may have gone somewhere, this is highly suspicious. Great marketing though, made waves in the blogosphere.

@purplemonkeyelephant The laptop's webcam was probably already prepared to work with the show, in case they ever wanted to use it. Either way, this can be solved pretty easily. Find out if there was a power outage in the area during that time. I'm sure he doesn't claim that only his studio was affected.
