  • かっこいい!若い頃よりもいいね。

  • Bill Monroe. Sooooo far ahead of his time, and so blessed with talent. Thank God for Bill Monroe and his wonderful gift of music to us all.

  • Sometimes it seems that blue grass afficianados, particularly in the UK, are more interested in names of things rather than the thing itself. "New Country" most likely refers to the microphones and other electric contrivances.

  • Heard this on the radio this morning. NPR, not country, not surprisingly.

  • No!!!! Old country!!!

  • i HOPE YOU LIKE THE MUSIC, the music of the hills of tennessee.

  • @MrJlee2a Hills of Tennessee?!?!? lol Monroe and his kin were from Kentucky.

  • @MrJlee2a Western KY at that...not Appalachia, by any means

  • My Grandmother babysat for Bill and Charlie while in Winston-

    salem,nc

  • David Grisman can't play like this in his dreams!

  • Porter Waggonner's version of "Uncle Pen" is my favorite. But then, Bill Monroe is the great bluegrass musician in history, so maybe I'd better go and listen to Motorhead instead until I can decide.

  • Getting to on 5 July 2004 it was on honor to get invited on stage by Clay Walker to clog to this song in my size 2 Lightup shoes. I got to play harmonica, clog and sing with his band. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ

  • The "high, lonesome sound" at its best!

  • toss the toothpicks jam

  • Great to be able to see all the legends I will never be able to meet perform here

  • Odds are this was taped on the old Nashville Network program "New Country". And yes, this tune and Bill himself had been around many a year already.

  • new country ????hahhahaha....this is the greatest bluegrass artist of all time

  • i saw herman alvey play uncle pens fiddle in ohio county kentucky 2001

  • On Bill lapel i a hand carved mandolin that my wife pinned on his lapel when he came thru and played at the dark hollow in montgomery alabama. I hand carved it and we have seen it on several vidios .I wonder if it made it to his sale after he passed, any one know?

  • i was named after a part of this song....."the greatest of all was...Jenny Lynn"...thats my name

  • God Bless You Uncle Bill. I miss you so.

  • Monroe's mandolin coupled with those fine twin fiddles...Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing it with all of us who knew and loved Bill and his music!

  • This is Bluegrass, traditional, non-beatable Bluegrass, not "New Country." Sorry.

  • To everybody Mr. Monroe is where Bluegrass began

  • are you kidding....Can anyone playy like this now?

  • @dottiekirby hell no!

  • how badly is the description of this video "new country" so off the mark? since Bill Monroe was playing this song in the '50s?

  • Music this good is always "new", it'll never get old. What gets old is some hotshot trying to "outplay" folks like these.

  • @puzz98 it will get old but it will be always cool

  • All I'm saying is it's gotta be more than just flash. Speed is no substitute for soul. Ask any woman (LOL)

  • New Country was the title of the show this was on.

  • @LuckyTHlRT33N correction this song has been played since the 30's

  • My daughter has been taking fiddle from Mark Squires for several years, this is him on the right. Great to see him here! Thanks for posting this.

  • Sweet!

  • Excellent. The West Kentucky accent that Bill has, when he say's hear it sing. Fabulous. American Music at it's best. This our roots folks like it or not!

  • One of my favorite all time bluegrass tunes 4 sure

  • @godsmanforsure Me too. One of the very top country bluegrass songs of all time for me. RN

  • Who that hippie dude on fiddle? Gotta dang beard, Probably doos drugs. Alcahol - now dat Ok.

(yes, this comment WAS tongue -in-cheek).

  • check out phish cover this song, it'll give u a taste of their their variety if your not familiar with them

  • Are these cuts available on CD? Where was the performance?

    Thank you.

  • Mark Squires was my fiddle teacher for about 5 years...he's a great teacher, and an incredible fiddle player! He's also playing with the North GA group "Gold Rush" now.

  • I did a little research on Mark Squire. He's well known in the Atlanta area as I'm sure some of you know. Last I've heard of squire's he sometimes performs with a band called "The Hoyles", which is a bluegrass band based in Georgia.

  • Love it. 5/5

  • The fiddler with Buddy Spicher is Mark Squire. He's on another Youtube video and Bill Monroe introduces him.

  • Mike Feagan, probably, on lead fiddle (definitely neither Jimmy Campbell nor Doug Green), and the incomparable Buddy Spicher playing the high part.

  • Naw thats Jimmy Campbell on fiddle on the right. One of Bills Best.

  • Its not Jimmy Campbell. Can't figure out who it is though.

  • might it be Bobby Hicks?

  • BibBoiJC:

Not Bobby Hicks......you have the answer above. Its Mark Squire.

  • Nuthin' like Bill Monroe... an American legend. His mandolin belongs in Smithsonian.

  • Hard ti see with the hat, but yes, he´s an ex BG-boy!

  • I do believe that's Ranger Doug on the fiddle! The one on the right. Anybody know for sure??
