@ConvertAllStar I'm sure you'll have your own interpretation but to me it’s an extension of the hypothetical narrative “if he (God/ Lord) were to direct you then direct you into my arms”, the important word in that line being IF puts it in the context of a hypothetical scenario. So in essence it’s a reference to the “interventionist God” that he stated he didn’t believe in the first line of the song.
