OMG, thank you so much for posting this!! I saw The Bacchae at the Lyric Hammersmith, and would have seen it more than once if it wasn't sold out. It was the best thing I've ever seen in the theatre, ever ever ever - and I see a lot of theatre! I only wish a recording had been released of the music, cos I would totally buy it *hint* Or even a DVD *double hint*
Thank you so much for posting this. I got to see this performance live in New York, but my memory fails me most of the time. It was nice to see certain little bits that I had forgotten. Alan was amazing in this. And more amazing afterwards. *_*
It's the Greek Rocky Horror! Brilliant! Alan Cummings, one of the best kept secrets in theatre!

This production is probably the reason The Public decided to do The Bacchae this season.

Ahh. The beauty and the sorrow of live theatre. Once you miss it, it's gone forever . . . and it's just not the same on a telly.
And anyway, how would we singe people's eyebrows in the first few rows of the stalls from a DVD??

I would like to heartily second the idea of either a CD of the music or a DVD of the preformance. Both would be even better.
I would certainly buy both, and with Alan Cumming, I think there would be no problem making back the initial cost of production.
