  • there IS something beyond this. is better if you get some info before say something nonsense.

  • boring

  • well, at least the kitty was cute

  • He looks like he's about to eat that pussy!......cat.

  • he's eating hallucinogenic mushrooms you know, I bet Robert Indiana is just trippin his balls off...

  • the man eating is Taylor Mead.

  • eat pussay

  • this video was the epic beginning of pointlessly made youtube videos ;)

  • 106 positive critics??????!!!!!!!!!

this men is fucking idiot and this video is a shiiiiiit!!!!!!!

  • @CPD98

Your YouTube channel looks no better, bud. You look like someone who's a gun nut or some internet tough guy. Until you show us something we'd appreciate, your opinion on one man has no in depth as much as a thick-skulled person who would laugh something he doesn't understand.

  • @papoj1PVR don't even waste your breath on him.

  • At times, he was a good photographer. It's silly to call him a film-maker.

  • @ZenPapageno Stop talking you ' silly' man.

  • 'art is a BANG!'

  • as Andy Warhol said himself:

Art is what you can get away with.

  • I love Andy Warhol.

  • THIS IS NOT ART.

  • @Clinton0707 Oh really now? Then what exactly is art?

  • @Clinton0707 You aren't a person

  • As far as I can see, Andy Warhol influenced Stanley Kubrick (showing human basic functions - sleep, eat, sex), Lars von Trier (actresses are most beautiful when on verge of mental breakdown), Big Brother reality show... and who knows else.

  • I forgot Midnight Cowboy.

  • well either way i dont find this to be art

  • andy wanted people to talk the each other more so he made crazy vids like this so people would look at each other and say what is this? warhol

  • there is nothing in Andy Warhol, he is just a clever trader, gambles and art are one for him

  • I want this cat ^_^

  • Comment removed

  • Calm Cat.

  • Face it--it's all about the cat . . .

More movies with animals, by animals, for animals, please!!!

  • Awww, that's a cute kitty. They should have made a sequel with that cat eating something.

  • there is nothing to get. this is not supposed to make sense.

  • zen cat.

  • I thought he was going to eat the cat...o.O

  • Comment removed

  • he's eating something and petting his cat which could be same protein and that kind of sensation conflicts

  • Andy Warhole saw the coming of a Youtube video before they were even made.

  • Kitty!!!

  • Like this video if you love that kitty! :D

  • the Cat is like "MR Warhol can i haz cheeseburger?" jajaja, no seriously i dislike the gum chewing for some reason, interesting to see how important is a pet for a person in this modern society full of solitude (is my personal point of view, remember art experience is very subjective).

  • @middy1001 are you stupid, or what?

  • its like there has been no effort put in to make this, but yet its so beautiful. he captured something so real and magical

  • Yes, it's empty, meaningless. Do you know how hard it is to achieve that? To project only an image, and no meaning? It's not even an empty allegory, because it manages to not even seem like it wants to mean anything. It's a beautiful, wordless melody.

  • @caccolainfame fuck off. these movies are bullshit.

  • @scaryfried Then why do you watch them?

  • it reminds me of the screen tests. they seemed to simple and off-handed, but they were really so deeply alive. when you watch a few of the "fake" screen tests on yt, you really get an idea of how beautiful warhol's were.

  • But he has done something really clever though, he probably knew that in a few years time people would be watching his videos on youtube arguing over there hidden depth and now he's sat there in heaven thinking 'what fools, it's just me eating a mushroom is all!'

  • Did he chew that enough? He might have a hard time digesting that.

  • @lazaris11 I know huh? Maybe a little marinade ahead of time would've helped.

  • As much as I detest Warhol, I must admit that becoming a famous movie maker with nothing more than some cans of silent stock and a cheap camera was a neat trick. He was a clever bastard.

  • Oh, you pretentious fools, shut up. Stop telling people they're not intelligent enough to get it if they don't get it. There's nothing TO get. It's a man eating a mushroom. All that Warhol was trying to do here was do something no one had done before, and he did. Great. But beyond that, there's no depth to his films.

  • But the lack of depth IS its depth.

  • By depth I mean meaning, making you feel. What do you feel when you watch this, besides bored or hungry?

  • @RVProductions Your post is over a year old but well... I think you missed a point on Warhols Films. Of course there is a concept behind it. This Film "Eat" for example is cutted up from nine three minute films. The Plot in this film is not exactly important. It's more the playing with the medium film. He creates the illusion of a film and questioned the expectations of the viewers. Sry it's a little bit hard to explain for me cause I'm not a native english speaker. Don't judge artists so easy.

  • @RVProductions No, he was trying to show that there's art in the things that people have done a million times before and do every day. Even without artistic intention there is still art.

  • why has he made only fucking silent movies???

  • there in the 1980s dumass

  • this is affective. I swim in this.

  • Really don't see how this is art. Am i the only one that realises all it is, is a man eating a mushroom. A bit of a waste of time if you ask me.

  • It's art, just not art you can relate to or art that takes a significant amount of time to make. Nonetheless, especially in these days, it's definitely considered "art".

  • experimental....avant garde....cinema verite....all of the above here...

  • I like the cat. More isn't to say about this. I'm sorry for my unintellectual mind.

  • noone can tell there brain how to interpret what there eyes are seeing, we all conjure different reactions to everything, and thats why you think its shit, and i think its groundbreaking...thats why he did it.

  • Warhol invented ambient movie, not meant to be watched closely, but with a little attention, projected on walls during parties. And I beleive that his movie themes - sleep, eat, drink, sex... had impact on much more famous Kubrick, whose characters perform basic functions in advanced environments.

  • heh, this one is easy))

you see, he was the FIRST one to do this. After he thought it up - boring or whatever, only after this it became possible to post comments like "well, I can do it too" ;)

  • It's called art, not work.

  • i smell what your steppin in. i like him ALOT i think andy is cool as hell and this is pretty boring and maybe stupid but its the fact that NO ONE wanted to do something like this that makes andy famous. Its the fact that he makes daring moves to be different even though it is stupid and simple.

  • Andy Warhol was first. Sorry...

  • @cristinaroco i. don't suppose there's ment to be a point. its just a bit of life . . . ts a fella filming a fella and a cat. which is always a nice thing. is making stuff always about being original? check out how happy the fella and the cat are

  • at first this was really funny, then it just got annoying,

  • Talking about mushrooms and cheesburgers, now I´m so hungry that I could eat an Andy Walnut.

  • It's a mushroom, not gum, and not a cheeseburger either.

    He's eating a mushroom.

  • Comment removed

  • HATE the gum chewing

  • Вообще супер :)

  • THIS MOVIE NEEDS MOAR COWBELL!!!

  • Первый раз видела эту короткометражку на недавней выставке Уорхолла - очень понравилось. :)))

  • really brilliant this kind of things not anyone can capt it absolutly brilliant its like "kiss" you can record a long kiss but nobody catch like andy did it brilliant

  • it is the movie it's just the part the cat comes in the shot for a few minutes yeah... 42 minutes of nothing but a man eating mushrooms and he fucks with a cat for a minute

  • this isnt the film!!! the film consists of a guy eating mushrooms

    wat a rip-off!

  • Is this a visual euphemism for "eat pussy"?

  • QUE TONTERÍA

  • the birth of the lolcat... This guy was a visionary.

  • rofl

  • That started to piss me off pretty quick

  • he is so stoned

  • How in the hell is this considered art?

  • There should be a sequel, called ''Dump''.

  • but the cat is a freaking awesome idea

  • it may be art, but it is unbearable to watch

  • Thank you for putting my sentiment on films like this into 10 words.

  • Loot it up, I think it's the sequel to 'blow job' but he's getting a blow while eating in this one

  • WIN!

  • the cat is like WTF!

  • He's a Genius.

    You pricks.

  • yes according to you, anyone is a genius "if they're just deep and zen like" stfu queer.

  • Can someone tell me,how can Andy Warhol's work be considered art?

  • lol his work is more or less an attack on the word Art itself, like what is the ultimate definition of Art, you don't have to paint a Rembrandt or Monet to be appreciated. The whole point in art is to challenge the previous movement and also put things in to perspective, hence pop art made cambell soup famous. His films are also an attack on the word "art" "must have a montage or drama to become a "film"? "Thats what Andy is challenging as well. If you got time check up Jean Luc Godard's films.

  • yeah but, remember the art is subjetive, i'm just wondering how many peolple really watch the whole film without feeling bored? i did't, at the minut 8 i end up on stoping it... but it's art, but it's very overated, just my opinion

  • but then, anybody can do something that could be called art

  • i agree with you iseaall1205 im studying andy warhol for my art GCSE's currently. and its fascinating. what people have to reemeber about his films though is that 10% (or something like that amount) is the amount used when communicating the rest is all body launguage.

  • It's 55% body language, not 90%, and that rule is very misinterpreted...it's not "how much of communication is body language", it's how helpful each part of communication (words, tone or body language) are when interpreting mixed signals about emotion...eg "yeah that sounds good" with arms crossed and rolling eyes, the body language is more clear. As well, I don't think people are unimpressed by Andy's films because of the lack of words...look at the success of some silent films. tbc.

  • Maybe he ate the cat later.

  • he is eating a mushroom. he was filmed eating a mushroom for 45 minutes

  • I think that his ideas are really good, he films people until they can't hold the same pose anymore it's like he's trying to see they're real personality and not the person they're trying to be for you. Genius.

  • you are the real genius.

  • how is that genius?

  • if you look carefully, the expression of the man doesn't change, but the cat's face does show some emotion (it looks amazed and frightened)...

that cat was quite an actor (well, in a Warhol way)...

  • maybe Andy Warhol was trying to prove that the cat was a better actor than the man.

  • It isn't Danny Devito!

    It is Robert Indiana!

  • eating pussy...

    hahahahaha =D

  • Danny Devito?

  • Wow you guys really take this seriously. Maybe if we were all like andy we wouldn't really care and just make jokes out of life and these ridiculous arguments. (BTW i'm not saying be like andy, i don't have enough money for 1000+ hours of tape)

  • I am not really quite sure why everyone hates on Andy Warhol? Was it that poor movie called FactoryGirl that everyone thinks he is inadequate?I mean sure,Andy Warhol didn't see people as people, but as art. That doesn't mean he is a douche bag and actually hurt people.People hurt themselves, such as Edie (with her drug addiction).Warhol probably thought it was fascinating how she slowly started to deteriorate. He saw art when people suffered, were happy, died, it was all art for him.Emotions are art.

  • I do like Andy and his ideas, but just because he thought it was good to see people as art it doesnt mean it was right. People are people, maybe people thinks its a bit sadistic to see peoples suffering as art, which

  • dont quote me but i think people hated him because of his cult... he did steal a lot of money.... but other than that i really like and respect him... he is a true artist and thats putting it mildly

  • steal money? i don't think andy warhol give a lot of value to money as people think, i think he was more up the glamorous life of what money caused, but im not sure if he would steal it.. : /

  • if it wasnt that, than it was because he used people but i wouldnt know.. it was one or the other and i wish i knew more about the guy

  • i disagree completely. he brought to light the everyday things in life and made art of our lives.

  • I think Andy Warhol was wonderfull just because of what you just said. because he did what no one had ever done, he did what people thought and still think is stupid. He filmed Empire State for forty minutes, why? Because he could, because he wanted to, because nobody had done it and he thought it was fascinating.

I think it's amazing that everyday stuff like bottles and cans can be made into art.

  • It's really wonderfull that some people like him think that the world is so beatiful and fascinating that he wants to film everything.

  • I agree but in his film Empire, he filmed the Empire State building for 8 hours, not only 40 minutes.

  • Well maybe he did that because nobody else would even think about doing it. Or he really had too much spare time ;)

  • You guys are all wrong...fudge.

  • actually Andy Warhol Didn't die when he got shot. He was very close to it though, the doctors had to open up his chest and massage his heart to keep him alive. And the fact that he got shot had a big impact and realy influenced his art afterwards.

Andy Wrahol truely understood what art is. Art can be just the way a person moves or the expressions on a person's face. Some would say that is the greatest form of art.

  • art baby...art

  • I thought this movie was about a guy who just ate mushrooms for 45 minutes.

  • hahaahahahahahahahah!

  • what I did. but a guy witha cat is much cuter.

  • mmmmm!

  • I saw this video about a month ago at the Makenzie art gallary as a school field trip we were learning about Andy Warhol

  • art kunst art kunst art kunst art kunst art kunst art

  • he didn't die when he got shot...

  • The wounds he received from that insane whore (I mean that literally on both words) Solanis never completely healed and contributed to Andy's death though. Sadly she outlived him (only served 3 years in a comfy hospital for triple attempted murder). Like Lou Reed said in "I Believe", "I believe being sick is no excuse and - I believe I would've pulled the switch on her myself".

  • Yes he did die when He got shot! He was gonna die anyways, if he didn't get shot he would still be dead because he had muscle desease!

  • Well, if I may say something, there was something in his biography, where he said and I quote:

"These are experimental films (or shorts) in the sense that I experiment with the reaction of the audience. I have no idea what I am doing". That could be what we could call this. It was on some article about Warhol.

I would say Andy was more closer to the "Person who does something, just for the sake of it". Just like alot of people today.

    Food for thought

  • I understand what you are saying victorgreywolf but the problem is how do you apply a value or even limits to art? What is the difference between Andy eating a burger and someone else eating one? If we say there are no limits to art than everything is. It may sound open minded at first but it actually is trivializing art. Frank Zappa talked about this in his autobiography. He said that art had to have a frame so the viewer could know were it began and ended.

  • people you cant argue about what art is or isnt. you cant really define art. andy was famous cause he did weird things that nobody else did, and made ordinary objects iconic. end of story

  • ur one dumb fuck...andy started an art revolution, and if it was over the line then why did u leave it there instead of pressing back space?...besides art is the hardest thing to define so how can u so easily know what it is?ur dumb ass restroom graffiti is nothing compared to andy..if u dont like him then dont look him up on youtube!

  • You're obviously a moron. Besides the fact that you look up Andy Warhol videos just to point out that you don't think its art and are completely unaware of how he died, you also stated "I think Warhol was really just trying to be hip and trendy." You do realize that Andy Warhol was the FOUNDER of the factory as well as popart, right?

  • Andy did some brilliant work and shook up the art world especially bringing commercial art into the pure art world. But lets be honest, he produced a lot and much of it was crap, particularly his movies. Forty minutes of someone eating a mushroom? That isn't stimulating intellectually or creatively, it is an endurance test for the viewer. A movie called "Eat" with a cat (pussy) in camera shot?, that isn't clever, it is a bad pun. Wait a minute, where the hell did I put the emperor's new clothes?

  • All the good ones are gone, nothing unique about todays people at all, I thought it was fuuny, my very firts thought was....Oh, he's got himself a 'lil pussy! Unique is gone I tell you. What, now we get Chris Crocker? More people are watching him than watching what had some interest and made you think!

  • OMG hahahahahah this was so funny bad thing is that no one gets his jokes

  • oh my god you guys are idiots...

    "Eating pussy"...?

    get it?

Warhol was an OVERTLEY sexual person and almost every fils he EVER did has some Sort of sexual suggestion behind it. It's art... but if anything its just suggestive. Watch the man's face. He's meant to be enjoying it.

  • i think it's beautiful. this moved me.

  • shrooms :)

  • I have absolutely no doubt as to whether or not that cat is now dead as a doornail, decomposed and nameless as the blades of grass it fertilized by its timely demise. If the man chewing the gum is still chewing (but now in front of a web cam -Anyone got an address? :) ) I would imagine his once fine chompers are now callused gums... In all likelihood the man is now dead too. :)

  • its beautiful

  • this kind of art is sad i believe that people make art into something that shouldnt be i love most of andy warhols work but this is not art at alllllll

  • "Art is what you can get away with." - Andy Warhol

  • Bo-ring.

  • That's Andy Warhol's whole philosophy. He was a boring person, and he believed that the boring is what's amazing.

  • What a boring philosophy. :)

  • Obviously, and thats not bad

  • Yes it is. Boring is bad. Now, go away. You're boring me. :)

  • maybe hes chewing gum?

  • yea, its a mushroom. the video is supposed to show how we take time for granted. we're watching old time go by, as we're well as our own.

    - i hope people can make sense of that. im not that good with words lol

  • What a movie made by Warhol! The film is overexposed, the movie is focused on one scene for a long period of time, which people would put their eyes off it! The pussycat served only one purpose: props!

What the hell is this movie about?9

  • This movie is about how life is mundane and droll

  • what is he eating and why does it take that long to chew it?? humanity may never know the answers to these questions.

  • Comment removed

  • you mean shrooms?

  • Being poor had left any with bad teeth he didnt get them fixed till he felt he had money... poor ragedy andy....

  • haha i loved it

  • Is the cat okay? The man looks a little too transfixed with it...

  • I can't belive this is Eat!!...

  • he's chowing something but it is stupidl It should be about only him easting something, not about a stupid cat.

  • Are you sure this is eat...?

  • Yes this clip is from Eat (1963) It is the last few minutes of the 45min film staring Robert Indiana.
