Download it for PC and run it at maxxed out settings. It's an awesome game, you're hooked from the moment the game starts. If you've ever gone on a killing spree on any of the Hitman games, this is what the game feels like, only with more weapons and a whole stack of freedom fighters you can command!

Vulnerable targets: send all troops out at once while hammering with heavy machine gun and fire bombs. Strong targets: send each soldier to a separate vantage point for spread fire, and whip out the sniper rifle/ magnum. That assassinate the general level was freakin tough.

Successes: brilliantly urgent and dynamic third-person shooting, tactical fire-fights with intelligent AI enemies, the awesome diversity of the levels, massive open-levels, and clever issue-ordering of commands to your squad. Failures: the ending was anticlimactic, enemies soak up bullets and the plot undersold. I will agree that the game is underrated and deserves a sequel. It's still one of the best games I've ever played and Chris' speech from the TV station never fails to give me goosebumps.

The sight in this game is so cool! A bit like in Gears of War. You have to actually aim, to be precise. This is one of the best games on PS2 ever! I bought it online, but there was some sort of confusion, so the game should have arrived all ready today, but instead of that it will come approx after 3 days. If it won't arrive, I'll storm the shop, and rape the owner, then I'm gonna take all the games inside. Well not really...
I remember playing it for the first time completely blown away by the notion of having these realistic warriors under my command. From the post office assault to the battle for the town, overcoming impossile odds, seeing your achalades spewedd from the indoctrinating Tatiana Kempinska for SAFN. The Russians always rebuild but your job is symbolic untill the final stronghold falls. I died inside when the rebel base was discovered.

This game still has the best controls for a 3rd person action game ever. It was the first time the pad felt like it could compare to a board and mouse in a shooter.
One of the funnest third person shooters. One of the first games to have crazy rag doll physics lol. Well Hitman had it and rainbow six. This one is fun from the start to end. "Classic" Highly rated but didn't sell too well.
It's USSR, and they chose them because they have been big US enemies for a loooong time, for they are communistic and are always a threat...lrn2history...
Great game, but the auto-aim in the console versions were just too much. Played the PC version first (Borrowed from a friend), finished in a matter of days, and loved every second of it.
Got the Xbox version later (Since I usually prefer playing on console), and well, the aiming just felt weird. Haven't finished it, I really should get back to playing though.
And I really hope we'll see a sequel to it sometime in the future.

This game is available on ALL previous generation consoles including PC.
Theres NO EXCUSE not to play it. Especially the PC game. Keyboard and mouse controls work amazingly well and very acurate for shooting.

Greatest type of game I've played for 1 v 1 multiplayer from what I've seen. I mean, I just remembered charging everything I've got and hell man, epic battles.

When I say underrated, I'm not talking about tha damn rating, I mean under-appreciated by the majority of the gaming world.
A game could get perfect 10's, but can still be underrated/under appreciated if it still sells like piss.

@farkiller He means that it was bombed doe to poor sales, Okami had 9.5/10 by Gamespot, but had poor sales due to games like Path of Neo that came out at the same time.

@gorillazhead Plus think of it in terms of something else. When someone says a certain band is extremely overrated, are they saying that because some critics somewhere gave the band some kind of rating, or is it because the attention and hype created by the fans of that band saying it's the best bend ever? If another band is considered underrated, does that have anything to do with ratings, or the amount of attention said band gets?

What do you mean? Something like morrowind? I really couldn't say. King's Field is the only similar game on the PS2.
If you're talking about a FPS with an open design, then look into Deus Ex.

this game reminded me of how ignorant i was, my brother bought it, and i thought, but you haven't even heard of the name or seen any review or anyone talk about it. i loved EVERYTHING, shooters just bored me, but something about the scenes, places, or theme that you played in hooked up, had it for the gamecube

This game still has the best controls for a 3rd person action game ever. It was the first time the pad felt like it could compare to a board and mouse in a shooter.

One of the funnest third person shooters. One of the first games to have crazy rag doll physics lol. Well Hitman had it and rainbow six. This one is fun from the start to end. "Classic" Highly rated but didn't sell too well.

Great game, but the auto-aim in the console versions were just too much. Played the PC version first (Borrowed from a friend), finished in a matter of days, and loved every second of it.
Got the Xbox version later (Since I usually prefer playing on console), and well, the aiming just felt weird. Haven't finished it, I really should get back to playing though.
And I really hope we'll see a sequel to it sometime in the future.

Great game. Reminded me a bit of "THE THING" game in which you had to manage your team. I ended up playing the PC version, though.
