Oh my god. I used to play this with my mom, dad, and sister on our windows 95 like 12-14 years ago. My parents didn't know how to use computers a lot but still helped me and my sister out my god this is making me so nostalgic.
Very good job adding the voice-overs. I like the music, too. What a classic game this is - challenges the mind and makes one think creatively. Id love for a more "modern" version of this to come out for today's computers!
@Greatscoota23 I'm a chick and no, I don't even have Steam on my computer. The footage was recorded using my actual LOOM CDs and playing through DosBox to allow the game to run properly.
@Greatscoota23 S'ok. :) I guess it probably helps I was using the actual CDs? Either that or my PC is dumbed down enough already to play it; I'm still on Windows XP. lol.
You can do it in DOSBox or use a program called ScummVM. I use DOSBox for a lot of games but for these old LucasArts adventure games I use ScummVM, it was specifically designed for them and runs them flawlessly and with some nice extra options like graphics filters, easy save/load, hotkey list built into the menu etc. It's very nice and easy to run.
If you're absolutely certain you have the CD version, have you tried running it on an emulator like dosbox? Also, when I played my CD version I actually had the CD in my computer as I played it; not a copy or playing of a virtual drive.
Back in the day I certainly don't remember it lagging. I believe the lag is because I was playing the game with the actual CD through an emulator as I didn't have a computer "dumbed down" enough to play it normally. It might not have been so laggy if I played via a virtual drive instead. I'm not sure.
Lucas Arts recently released the rights to sell Loom, 2 Indiana Jones games and the ndig to buy online for 10.00 to a site called steam as well as a remake of The secret of Monkey Island so if you're interested check it out. I'll be buying both when i get some money he he
This is the reason i still have my wonderful Windows 98 with two 2 gb hard drives... This is also the reason i still own the floppy set with this game, Monkey Island, Indian Jones, Zack something, and Mad something :P and a game called like moonshine runner or something... it wonderful :D
dude, monkey island was my fave lucas arts game, even tho im not really a fan of george lucas's work he's made some good stuff. loom was fun but i still think monkey island 3 was the best l.a. game :]
If anyone still wants to play this game it's coming to Steam on July 8th along with some other Lucasarts classics like The Dig and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
good video. brings me many memories of when we played boy, now I can not play because the disc is not and never could finish the first part I did not know anything about English, I remember all that, the dialogue, the graphics, everything .. . thank you, seek and finish that game
Oh God, I really really loved this game. It brings back tons of memories. Very VERY nostalgic. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate this video. It's been a long time since I've played this. I think I want to be left alone for a while...
Huh! I had no idea there was a CD-ROM version of Loom.
Loom is an "unsung hero" of PC gaming for its time. When people ask me what the game's like, I tell them "it's really old, really short, but really good!"
Cool! I downloaded the talkie version with the extras, I had the chance to purchase the original but i got Monkey 1 instead. Silly of Me. I need to use the emulator combined with the cd or the ISo to work the best it can.
W. Beamish videos were cool as well! Im currently playing it.
VERY good talkie version of this game in my opinion. And Excellent performances by the actors, especially when taking into consideration the game is from 1990.
I have the CD version (a copy) but the sound was all messed up on mine. Voices cut out sometimes. I had the original when I was about 5 or so, loved the game.
Whenever the CD version came out? I remember playing this when I was 5, but I think the CD version came out when I was only 2. I still have the CD version, but in order to play it, I use an emulator combined with my CDs.

Haven't tried it, but the Lucasart's adventure pack is selling for 2.50$ on Steam.
Also includes The Dig (which i liked), Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis as well as Indiana Jones and the last Crusade.

VERY good talkie version of this game in my opinion. And Excellent performances by the actors, especially when taking into consideration the game is from 1990.
In a mora known game i guess: Indiana
Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis
also by Lucas Arts for instance, the
recording does sound a lot more blurry
(like its recorded in maximum 22 Khz)
And the voice acting performance is not
that well, even though its from 1992.
