  • Oh my god. I used to play this with my mom, dad, and sister on our windows 95 like 12-14 years ago. My parents didn't know how to use computers a lot but still helped me and my sister out my god this is making me so nostalgic.

  • Is it just me or did anyone else find out bout this game while playing monkey island?

  • Very good job adding the voice-overs. I like the music, too. What a classic game this is - challenges the mind and makes one think creatively. Id love for a more "modern" version of this to come out for today's computers!

  • rise son of cygna for the emprah1!1

  • OMG I loved this game. It was my 2nd fave after Monkey Island. I must buy this again!!!!

  • Avaliable on Steam for U$4.99

  • wow, blast from the past... minus the voice-overs of course

  • he's using steam thats why it looks and sounds as good as it does

  • @Greatscoota23 I'm a chick and no, I don't even have Steam on my computer. The footage was recorded using my actual LOOM CDs and playing through DosBox to allow the game to run properly.

  • @silvermoonprod OH! sorry! Didn't mean any offense. You got dos box to work for you? huh then only way i could play the talkie version was on steam.

  • @Greatscoota23 S'ok. :) I guess it probably helps I was using the actual CDs? Either that or my PC is dumbed down enough already to play it; I'm still on Windows XP. lol.

  • @Greatscoota23

You can do it in DOSBox or use a program called ScummVM. I use DOSBox for a lot of games but for these old LucasArts adventure games I use ScummVM, it was specifically designed for them and runs them flawlessly and with some nice extra options like graphics filters, easy save/load, hotkey list built into the menu etc. It's very nice and easy to run.

  • Geeze, what an obvioius sales pitch

  • i LOVVVEEEE this game

  • Wow i remember this from monkey island but i didint think this existed!

  • Wow, I can still quote this entire game by memory!

*pushes nerd glasses closer to face*

They just don't make em like this anymore.

  • I've read on Wiki that they were planning to do the sequel of Loom, about Blacksmiths.

  • How come my version doesn't have these awesome graphics and speech? :o(

  • This is where Wanted got it's idea from >_>

  • you are AWESOme for making a gameplay out of this ... Monkey Island and this ... are my fav of all time!

  • One of the most beautiful adventures ever made. Man, I wish there was a sequel.

  • - Do you remember Bobbin Threadbare?

    - No

    - My point exactly.

  • wow. i still have this cd game. This game drove me nuts! LOL

  • Geez, what an obvious sales pitch.

  • God, i loved this game. man back in the day LucasArts made such unique stuff, not just star wars games.

  • This was the first pc game I played as a child along with The Secret of Monkey Island. Good times.

  • You know....birds!

  • star children - weaver

    DOSE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • I didn't like this game at all :( I was so disappointed 'cause i really wanted to play it :(

  • Monkey Island + Loom = <3

  • i rather monkey island much more

  • How do I get the audio to work??? I have this version but I cannot get any audio. please help me..

  • If you're absolutely certain you have the CD version, have you tried running it on an emulator like dosbox? Also, when I played my CD version I actually had the CD in my computer as I played it; not a copy or playing of a virtual drive.

  • @Joninexamgraduate use scummvm

  • is this game supposed to lag like this??

  • Back in the day I certainly don't remember it lagging. I believe the lag is because I was playing the game with the actual CD through an emulator as I didn't have a computer "dumbed down" enough to play it normally. It might not have been so laggy if I played via a virtual drive instead. I'm not sure.

  • okay. It´s a great classic game anyway.

  • I love this game it was such a beautiful story

  • One of the best games of all time. I wish Lucasarts would release a set of all their old adventure games that would run on new PC's.

  • Lucas Arts recently released the rights to sell Loom, 2 Indiana Jones games and the ndig to buy online for 10.00 to a site called steam as well as a remake of The secret of Monkey Island so if you're interested check it out. I'll be buying both when i get some money he he

  • @Britton001 Quite few are available on Steam for peanuts.

  • Haven't tried it, but the Lucasart's adventure pack is selling for 2.50$ on Steam.

Also includes The Dig (which i liked), Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis as well as Indiana Jones and the last Crusade.

  • This is the reason i still have my wonderful Windows 98 with two 2 gb hard drives... This is also the reason i still own the floppy set with this game, Monkey Island, Indian Jones, Zack something, and Mad something :P and a game called like moonshine runner or something... it wonderful :D

  • dude, monkey island was my fave lucas arts game, even tho im not really a fan of george lucas's work he's made some good stuff. loom was fun but i still think monkey island 3 was the best l.a. game :]

  • You'll be glad to know that George Lucas had almost nothing to do with the LucasArts adventure games. Hence the lack of JarJar Binks.

  • thank god! i hate him because he started a generation of nerds with 1 gay series. >:[

  • L O L good stuff

  • i listened through some of the scenes from tchaikovskys swan lake but couldn´t find this one in it.... ?? anyone ??

  • This sounded so good on a sound blaster.

  • Loom :) lol

  • Lucas Art's adventure games: My childhood.

  • @GeneralZaroff yeah.

  • beautiful

    i loved this game.

    it´s tschaikowski isnt it?

    swan lake something..

  • this game is part of my life...

  • i am over 30 and i still have that tune in my head. Lucasarts wrote History with those games.

  • I remember this! Thanks for uploading.

  • You're welcome!

  • it looks good i heard of it from that pirate in the scumm bar in monkey island

  • yeah theyre supposedly making a remake of this as well

  • I've never played Loom before. It's only 2 pounds 99 pence from Steam though so I may give it a whirl soon and become lost in a 'mystical world' lol.

  • I love this game so much.

Time to turn your gold to straw >:D

  • This sounds a lot like Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series.

  • So the entire motivation of the game is to turn into swans and escape?

    Courageous bunch, those Weavers.

  • If anyone still wants to play this game it's coming to Steam on July 8th along with some other Lucasarts classics like The Dig and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

  • i just bought it like a minute ago :)

  • Have fun! :)

  • I remember playing this! memories wow.

  • good video. brings me many memories of when we played boy, now I can not play because the disc is not and never could finish the first part I did not know anything about English, I remember all that, the dialogue, the graphics, everything .. . thank you, seek and finish that game

  • I am glad you enjoy this game. :)

  • Oh God, I really really loved this game. It brings back tons of memories. Very VERY nostalgic. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate this video. It's been a long time since I've played this. I think I want to be left alone for a while...

  • Not a problem. :) Glad you enjoy it.

  • This is the most precious CD-ROM I own. ^-^

  • is it still possible to purchase it?

  • Only if you're very lucky. The CD-ROM version was already rare when it was published, but even after almost 20 years it's sometimes listed on eBay.

  • yes u can buy it on steam

  • yeah there is a CD-ROM version i have it

  • Huh! I had no idea there was a CD-ROM version of Loom.

Loom is an "unsung hero" of PC gaming for its time. When people ask me what the game's like, I tell them "it's really old, really short, but really good!"

  • Cool! I downloaded the talkie version with the extras, I had the chance to purchase the original but i got Monkey 1 instead. Silly of Me. I need to use the emulator combined with the cd or the ISo to work the best it can.

    W. Beamish videos were cool as well! Im currently playing it.

  • Graphics and speed are SO much better!

  • Brings back many memories...thank you for making an walkthrough!

  • You're welcome! :)

  • does anyone know where to dld a talkie version of LOOM!

This game, along with Monkey Island, King's Quest, and Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis, are my all=time favourite computer games.

  • I have the CD version. Ididn't know it was "rare" but it doesn't work on my computer anymore.

    :.(

  • VERY good talkie version of this game in my opinion. And Excellent performances by the actors, especially when taking into consideration the game is from 1990.

In a mora known game i guess: Indiana

Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis

also by Lucas Arts for instance, the

recording does sound a lot more blurry

(like its recorded in maximum 22 Khz)

And the voice acting performance is not

that well, even though its from 1992.

  • do anyone know another game like this or like monkey island ?

  • You just made my day! I was trying to think of the name of that game! Just google "Monkey Island"

  • I think you'd like Sam and Max

  • I have the CD version (a copy) but the sound was all messed up on mine. Voices cut out sometimes. I had the original when I was about 5 or so, loved the game.

  • I remember playing this game ages ago, and falling in love with it. So pretty.

  • How on earth did you get this game?

  • Whenever the CD version came out? I remember playing this when I was 5, but I think the CD version came out when I was only 2. I still have the CD version, but in order to play it, I use an emulator combined with my CDs.

  • Aw, I had this version, but I lost it. I have no idea where it is. You are fortunate to have it. Luckily I still have the floppy version.
