@fmefm ....The early year 04's do have tranny problems just like the 2gens. 05 AT W/SS are ok but im sure they wont hold up for long if you plan to mod the car like the rest of us.
I would look for an 04-08 with a 6pd MT, after you get your ride buy a engine torque damper to keep from blowing out engine mounts. You would be set for many years to come.
I love my TL-S but had I known about the tranny problems, I would have gone for the G35s with its rwd, better breaks and tranny.

80-120 takes less time then yours, so I know you havn't beaten one. I also used to own a 45 but I sold it cause I couldn't afford the gas at the time, still had to get a 35 because these Infinitis are amazing.

I was in 3rd, he floored it, I dropped into second On top of 2nd I was on his passenger door, by the middle 3rd I had him, when I hit 80 something I shifted into 4th and he passed me up.
I raced him from a red light, I whooped him so bad, I just let off for him to catch up... gotta love the low end tq... sometimes. I Don't do much highway racing so I prefer low end tq anyways. But I do plan doing mods to increase the high end, like exhaust and cai... so on.
I feel ya, well I have a TL-P so mine doesn't run all the way to 115mph, but I might have shifted a bit early do to watching the road, not rpms lol.
I feel you on the TQ difference, I'm use the TQ from my parents ML320 Diesel lol, 419lb ft, it's not that quick but it sort of glues u when the turbo spools up.

Yeah, I was thinking about it like a used 6pd from a Honda Accord is less then a grand, to install it (because tranny is way out of my ability) would be another $500 from the Russians I know, but I'd rather take that $1,500-$2,000 and buy like new heads, ATLP exhaust, CAI... all of that will increase top end speed. I'm slowly putting money to the side for an ATLP exhaust once I get like $500.00 I'm going to order it to be made for a $200.00 deposit, then $800 more to cover it.
If you do a swap use the 6spd w/lsd from a 03 CL-S. The Accord 6spd has no lsd thats why its so cheap. The Lsd makes a very big diff.
I like the ATLP exhaust but it cost way to much. I'll have my guys at the shop fab me up somthing just like it for around 500 or less. Im going to use the magnaflows tho

You should pick up a set of XS headers $200 is a good price. So far tho the only mod i've seen for them is wraping the flex pipe with header wrap for better sound. Or you could get the jet-hot coating, it will make them cooler and last longer
The old tranny has a prob with getting enough oil to all gears so in some cases it may burn up 3rd.
They will also try and down tune your ride at the dealer so you cant redline 1st. After a few months of hard driving the tranny is back to its old self again.
I know fuckers. The swaped tranny was detuned, but that shit is starting to chirt again. HAHAHAHHAHAH. I have to get the comptech transmition cooler with the redline fluid, I heard that helps A LOT!

you could opt for the manuals. Manuals are made by honda/acura while the auto was made by some other transmission company. Manuals are also 2 to sometimes even 3 seconds faster than autos.
I look at it this way, no matter what car you buy its gunna have a production problem. Some of the probs are big like in the old TL's but Acura will take care of you
I have had my TL-S for over a year and yes its blow a tranny already but I beat the shit out my car, some of my boys have the same ride with over 100k on the same tranny and not a single prob
People have done the 6sp swap but there is no point to swap motors they only have 25 more HP than the 02-03 TL-S. For the price of a motor swap you can just get the SC and a few other things.
Go on AcuraZine and take a look, they have a big DIY for the 6spd mod

I know a few guys with full bolt-ons and they are very fast so i'll prob stay with that set-up for a good while but I think I might just go all out and put the CT SC kit on too, b4 the mileage gets to high.

The new 1 is different than the old 1. Its a bit larger and in a different position, same location but it looks like its turned on its side compared to the old 1.
You can us an 04 TL tranny cuz the engine is the same so I think they put an 04 in. Its got some codes on the side but I just havent had the time to research it yet

Yeah in that vid it only had an intake. I put in a TB spacer a few days after. It helps with the low end & top end TQ so 4th is a bit better.
Hey ramsrt500, i got same car, 02 tl-s. Ok when im running on SS mode, its like this i wait till the rpm hits 7 then i shift it up. But my dont go smooth like yours. Mine is jumping a lil back and forw and then it comes back down to normal. Its hard to explain. Do you have any idea ?

By the way if you wait tell you hit 7k to shit your over reving. Redline is 6700rpm so I push the shifter at 6500rpm and it will shift into gear by 6700rpm for a perfect shift every time.
I bought the car used from this body shop guy and he said his son do som damage to the engine and he did changed the engine. But the milage on the odemetor still 75k somthin. Is there anyway i can check if i still have qualitfy for warrenty or factory recall ?

Our cars run hard from 80-115. Our engine is all about topend power tho

Im going to change the filter to a K&N soon. From what I have read the WR dragon filter lets in alot of dirt.

I bought the car used from this body shop guy and he said his son do som damage to the engine and he did changed the engine. But the milage on the odemetor still 75k somthin. Is there anyway i can check if i still have qualitfy for warrenty or factory recall ?
And yeah lol , i used to shift at 6700 make a big soung reving. I tried to shift at 6500 like you said. Its just perfect smooth lol. Thanks mate

Ok but one more question, when you shift it up, do you have to release the gas pedal and then punch it again after it shifted ?

Na you can keep your foot down when shifting.
I just painted my calipers red yesterday and they look sick! soon i'll do the engine cover in two tone satin silver & black but it needs to be cut so it fits over the engine mods I have done. I'll post pics when im done.

Also check with acura to see if the recall was done, all you need is your ven#
You should flush the tranny also. Im loking into a trans fluid cooler so I can git more life out of my 5spd.
