Having worked in Aviation it always cracks me up when people bring up the phony 'explosive decompression' argument. Unless there is a vacuum outside that window, there will be no explosive decompression. It's just a matter of physics and real science doesn't lie.

The only safety issue of firearms on a civilian aircraft is the possibility of some numskull carrying solid rounds that could accidentally damage one of the multiple fail-safe systems, hydraulics, electrical, mechanical.

Guns where I live are as common as wrenches in a mechanics tool box. Gun crime here is very, very uncommon and I would guess that there are 5 or 10 guns for every person. I have at least 10. I would never even think of breaking and entering in the middle of the night into any home. I am convinced that the odds are I would get a chest full of lead.
