I was there in 2010 and that same deer came up to me while i was busy setting up my camera; I turned around and there she was. I petted her until she left. A woman took a picture of us but I for got to give her my contact info.

Leave wildlife alone. The reason it's "friendly" is because it's an adolescent and doesn't know humans are dangerous. Its mother probably got run over by a truck before she could teach her offspring to stay away from people. I doubt it was a pet. He's in a park and a lot of animals in parks (like my local park) are used to people feeding them so they'll walk right up to you when you visit.
