Thank you so much for posting this! Please, if you have Carol and Madeline doing a duet for "Friend" or on the "That's Showbiz" sketch, please post! Thanks so much! :D
It's a pity that Madelaine did not have a TV show of her own. I am sure it would have been a huge hit, no matter what kind of show she did. Multi-talented she was.
Euncie, Ed and Mama were always golden. Adding Madeline Kahn as a guest star turns the sketch into platinum. Classic TV comedy just doesn't get any better than this!
I think that's one of the things about that--it can be sort of healing to laugh at that stuff--even if in the back of your mind, you're going, "Wait, this is what it was like at *my* house!"
too, too funny! m. khan's "guilty!" (1:58) is hysterical! And c. burnett's "fond fruitless wishes" (3:05)--watch her face as she prepares to deliver the line; too much!
Man i miss mama's family. Im only 15 so i wasnt around when it first came on but i caught the re-runs. Viki Lawrence is or should i say was incredible on that show, and shes still a very funny lady. So was Carole Burnett. Plus having another very unforgetable, hilarious actress Madeline Kahn. That show couldnt get any funnier. I guess if they decided to make a spinoff it should be called Grandma's Family
@crusnikgal01 If I were the acting teacher when she went off on that rant about how Mama didn't appreciate her honourable mention ribbon I would have said, "That's good drama! Let's use it!" LOL
He did not take the curse words out. The tv station he recorded this from did. This has even been edited. The orginal is longer with a lot more to it. It's not posted in full on youtube, but this is still great. I have a copy of it on video. Hilarious!

Actually, the way I remember this skit ending was with Thelma saying (after she says "poor baby, she's failed again), "don't you worry honey, you've still got us." After which Eunice gets a look of resigned hopelessness on her face.

@cheeriosinabowl - she did. It was called "Oh, Madeline!" But it wasn't good, sadly.
