thats lame u cant do this without a tablet. granted i can't draw nearly as well with as mouse, it still would be nice to have the ability to use the brush that starts with small diameter
@Xae87 yes, there should be some way to do it properly, you can kinda do it with "Stroke Path" (right click over a path) but its too complicated for probably any drawing. You can also set the thikness control to "transition" on the brush panel (on shape dynamics) so you get decreasing size with each stroke, probably faster than line stroke, but still not good enough. Maybe with illustrator?
@juancarlosporcel every brush turns sharp edged when you have a tablet connected , if the dynamics are on , i just had the tablet connected but no drivers installed , installed the drivers and i got the pressure sensitivity effect , thanks for replying and nice video !
@Giroxnatsuclup: no i cant. u don't use that brush anymore, so its no longer on my brush presets. But as you can see in the video, it will take you about 30 seconds to create it yourself. Just select any hard brush that comes by default in photoshop and change the opacity jitter to "pen presure" and 0%; set the flow to arround 40% and thats it.
Can I ask you something? On my brush palletes, I have the same options as you do, but I don't seem to have the "other dynamics" feature anymore, is there any way I can bring it back? by the way, nice video :D
IT DOESN'T WORK!!! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON!!! I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet and I put the settings EXACTLY as the video has it. My line doesn't go according to pressure, AND it isn't even the shape that the brush settings show!! I have the same model of Photoshop as you do as well. HELP!!
@LilTaterProductions: There must be some setting that you are missing, probably something on the shape dynamics settings. Here is a very detailes brush engine tutorial: essenmitsosse[dot]de/photoshop-brush-engine/
please replace the [dot] for an actual dot, youtube blocks link so i changed it to post
@LilTaterProductions if you still haven't fixed this problem then all you have to do is install the disc that you received with the tablet therefore it will install he correct drivers into the computer and make it possible to add pressure hope this helped if it wasn't to late =\
@MrTriibi , this is explained from the begining. but you need a graphic tablet and a proper driver to make it work. i use a wacom bamboo fun. without that, photoshop can not do the opacity and width variations on the lines.
wow thinks for the video, i'm used to traditional sketching and one thing i can't seem to do is set Photoshop right, my lines come out really glitchy, they don't come out smooth like yours. i put the resolution to 600 but still it's not smooth :(
I could also recomend you using Manga Studio, it´s pencil and inking tools are amazing, really realistic. I just started using it last week so i dont know that much about it, but seem a good thing to try at least once.
A friend of mine was telling me that he hoped photoshop could do the same pencil-like effects as in Pencil.... I just did this to show him that... I would never REALLY compare beta freware with photoshop....
my brush has no any change when i set shape dynamic on :( so sad

I have a question, what brush is that your using? I mean the one with the sharp edges where your showing us how to get the pencil effect?
xInsomniax3 1 year ago
@xInsomniax3
at 1:16, you can see i use one of the default brushes to start with, any of the first hard edge brushes that come by default in photoshop will do.

@juancarlosporcel Yes! The Manga Studio Pencil and inking are more easy and quick that gives beautiful curves than Photoshop!

Why even compare a full-blown drawing/image editing-software(that cost 649.00$/10 075,00 SEK) with a free animation software that's still beta?
but I get what you mean.. I wish the feeling of the pencil-tool in Pencil was like the one in Sketchbook Pro.
