Is it possible to connect Mindstorms with the normal LEGO Power Function-Engines? That would make it easier to transpose the original crane 8421 into a radio-controlled vehicle
@oldpinkcaddilac Do you mean physical connection or wireless connection? If you want to physically connect Mindstorms with PF, you will need to modify the cables or get the PF to 9V cable from LEGO (If you use NXT, you will need the RCX to NXT cable, too).
By means of wireless connection, you need IRLink from Hitechnic and of course suitable programming.
However, in my opinion, I don't really think making this R/C connection is simple unless you power the vehicle purely by PF (No NXT).
@nyanpaingtin I am a Secondary 6 (Equivalent to Year 12 in UK) student from Hong Kong. My school is Queen's College and I study physics, chemistry and computer.
@Vuurzoon Thanks! When I'm using the drive mode, I press the left arrow button on my remote's NXT to enter the platform mode which initialize the vehicle by lowering the stabilizers. Then the bottom part is locked up and I can only control the platform. Similarly, I press the right arrow button to switch back to drive mode and the vehicle responds by retracting the stabilizers and locking up the platform.
You...are...a...fucking...BAD ASS!!!!

@xalexander1996 Well, with the motor multiplexers from mindsensors, I can control all 6 motors on the vehicle with just 1 NXT.

Hello Tycoon, Great design! Your mode switch is very clever. Which electronic device did you use to realise the mode switch?
