These Tea Party protests just show the ignorance and partisanship of a lot of Republicans who are being helped by Obama's programs. If they don't want to get behind him then we must move forward without their support.

MILLIONS of animal activists voted for OBAMA because they believed he cared about homeless animals and even held up "Baby," the rescued breeder dog-while promising to adopt a shelter dog during his campaign. Obama at least owes it to the millions of voters who supported him to adopt a shelter dog. He didn't. He lied. To an animal activist, the 30 to 50 million homeless and unwanted pets that die in agony from gas chambers is not just a small asterisk in a statistic. A promise means nothing??

Bo is a pure bred Portuguese water dog, a relatively rare breed, whose breeder, Martha Stern, said is not a "rescue". She explained dogs that don't work out are returned to her and she will sell them to someone else. There is no chance a dog like this would ever have needed rescuing. The original puppies were called "Hope for change" and ended up as a "gift" from Sen. Edward kennedy. Bo ended up where it was planned when it was born.

I realize the death of millions of unwanted dogs and cats by gas chambers, or getting stabbed in the heart with needles, shot to death or poisoned with strychnine (LEGAL in some pounds), or them being sold for hideous vivisection (also legal), means nothing to you. That is why we have a very violent nation. Animal cruelty is very closely linked to domestic violence and other criminal acts of violence. I speak for the animals because they have no voice -because I care about them.

I have to point out that although im against cruelty to animals, im not necessary against killing of animals. Why? Because i realise we humans consume animals all the time, even if we don't, we are using animal products.

And i think cruelties to animals requires more sophisticated problem then merely adopting a symbolic rescue dog.

Why is there animal euthanasia is to control the population of stray animals before they cause a social problem. It is true that Americans are irresponsible pet owners. How to solve it, education and regulations. As well as the proper enforcement of laws that protect them from abuse.

Besides the point that Bo might not even be considered a breeder dog.

Breaking a promise absurb? I guess you would say that. Especially a promise that meant so much to the millions of animal rights activists because people have a herd mentality-if Obama adopted from the shelter, so would millions of others. But he didn't. And countless millions of homeless and disgarded pets is NOT a small matter to an animal activist who got him millions of votes. Going back on your word a small matter? there is no "PROMISE" anywhere! Thats the point, he said nothing about PROMISING the animal activist about "adopting a shelter dog"! He just said he preferred a "shelter dog" but instead he accepted this gift. Period.

Adopting a shelter dog is not a damn "CAMPAIGN PROMISE".

Now, if u wanna continue to make accusation i recommend u quote the direct source of Pres. Obama himself saying, "i WILL adopt a shelter dog" and recommend others to do so too. Pls find me such a quote.

And the promise is not an asterisk to those who really care about animal welfare. With an estimated 30 million dogs and cats euthanized every year, every dog purchased by a breeder is a death sentence for those in rescue centers..

If u are really supportive of animal rights, i'd expect u to do real activism. Like setting up or join educative institutions that promote public awareness on issues like these. NOT whining over Pres. Obama's decision to accept the gift.

U also conveniently forget that although Pres. Obama also donated to American Humane society, and the dog was indeed a "second chance dog".

This is the honey moon period of the new president -enjoy it while it lasts, but when Obama got that breeder dog, and went back on his word-agreed a small matter TO YOU (but not to animal activists)-convinced me we just have another George W.
