  • good vibes brother Moga1985

  • this song is confrontation, is not a different lyrics,

  • what a tune yes bob free dem all wid music forever living in our hearts....rastafari

  • Just for the record, Moga, this is NOT a demo.

This was the FIRST issuance of "Trench Town"

released on 12" on the 56 Hope Road division of

Tuff Gong in 1982 BEFORE the version most people

know from the "Confrontation" LP, which makes this

the ORIGINAL VERSION and also the official and only

    discomix available of this tune.

Tuff Gong has re-released this 12" in the 2000s and

if you look carefully enough, you'll find it.

  • The arrangement (both musical and vocal) is mind blowing. Marley's music should be studied like Mozart's.

  • 56 Hope Road

  • @Userlamez

That address has nothing to do with Trench Town..

  • @Guadana comments are not confined to Trench Town...

  • @Userlamez True, but I still don't get it why you mention that place.. I bet if Bob lived and someone asked him which place is more important for him, he would go for Trench Town. After all he didn't write a song called 56 Hope road.

  • Man, totally true Pandanus, raw magic. Bless the musicmakers!!

  • Que hermosa versión de esta hermosa canción

Saludos from argentina, peace & bless...

  • thanx for clarifying red demon. i love this "full" version!

  • This is amazing! Thanks for the upload:D:D:D

  • This isn't a demo. It's the 12" vinyl jamaican single. The version on Confrontation was just remixed and edited down from this version

  • Are you sure? These lyrics are also slidely different. For example: 'There I swim through the seas of oppression...' in stead of 'There I vision through the seas of oppression...'.

  • yea it's an altertante vocal take. he also says "too much youth in prison" but a demo would be something that's unreleased. this version was released in jamaica before Confrontation. I assume the producers had to make it more palatable for an international audience and less rootsy. ie, removing horn lines from the album cut.

  • I see, thanks brother.

  • yes, red demon is 100% correct in his statements. We named it "trenchtown (alt)"

  • Sweet music !

  • I REST MY HEEEEEEEEAD!

  • It seems like parts of this demo were used for the track on the Confrontation album.

A superb demo again, moga85! Where do you get all this stuff from?
