  • nice job i like it...

  • @leo226644 Thanks! I it was really easy with the blocks...only took a couple hours.

  • Next time, for the frame, use nails. You use less and they're stronger. Also, lay out your deck boards from the center out and try to space them for an exact fit or let the ends overhang slightly and your won't have to rip a board to fit. Remember that weathered boards won't shrink for spacing factor.

  • @stevesmitty79 thats true..I didn't think of the boards not shrinking...thanks for the comment!

  • hey great vid well done ! im starting on a 28ft x 12 decking in the spring, got some good ideas off your vid

  • @goonluv cool !! glad to hear it!

  • Inspector would be up your ass around here for using screws instead of nails for shere factor.

  • "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough." Words to live by. Nicely done deck with reclaimed wood, sir.

  • looking good

  • @sugerbear520 thanks!

  • Hey Rick,I know your doing this on the cheap, but next time get a few bags of gravel and dig out a little under the blocks. That will keep them from sinking into the dirt. Also you seem confused on wood dimension's a 1x6 is really 3/4"x5 1/2" and 2x6 is 1 1/2"x 5 1/2" . but your doing a great job and I like following your progress. (\O

  • @my2cents0 well the original decking was built with 2 x 6's that are 1 1/2 thick..so I just used them. Thanks! I am getting closer to getting done!.

  • ...you work kinda like me...I use what I have quite often...glad I kept it....you did a fine job, but the only thing I see is that the black screws may need to be coupled with more screws later in coming years....

  • @paulpellicci well they came from a trailer manu. and are rated for exterior use...they have some kind of thick paint on them.

  • I think you took the right route on this project. Looks great and does the job. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

  • @2Bibleppl Thanks!...I am almost done with this one! Thanks for the comment!

  • As long as it stays unattached to the house it should clear code. But if you attach it you'll need to go below the frost line. Other wise a frost heave could potentially damage the structure of your house. Most people dismiss this aspect, but have never seen what a really cold front can do with frost heave. In my area I've seen frost heaves of over three feet !

  • Hi. I'm not a carpenter beyond building my pre-cut beehives. I just like watching your vids. How did you level the deck blocks? I like the way you use what is available if it does the job! thanks for the entertainment!

  • Great job Good re-use
