The thing that really annoys me are the so called "enthusiasts" who just say "oh, Vekoma are bad because they're all clones and rough. I hate them because my head moved about a bit, and I've ridden more than 1 SLC!!!11111" What's not understood is that clones allow smaller parks, to have a very reasonable coaster, that is both thrilling, and cheap. This attracts more customers to the park, creating more profit to put towards new, custom rides. Oh, and there are plenty of smooth Vekoma's,
Well said!! I (Sean, Media Manager) love Vekomas. Sure I do like B&M's, who doesn't, but Vekoma stay true to what a roller coaster is all about. Make a coaster too smooth and part of the experience is lost in my opinion. I am an enthusiast, but I do respect all manufacturers and their designs.
Our big documentaries like this one do take alot of time to research, film and produce and along with other projects that we pen in for the year and as a result our manufacturer documentaries do appear few and far between (Usually one per year). We do know that Intamin are a big player in the industry and they will certainly be covered in the near future. Please try and bear with us.
Are you fucking kidding me? Intamin have been just as big as Vekoma, working with the legendary Anton Schwarzkopf, and led to Walter and Claude leaving the company to form B&M.
What he's saying is that Vekoma's the biggest rollercoastercompany in the world because it placed the most rollercoasters, but most of the time it are the same designs, like the Boomerang or the Flying Dutchman.
Hi Tim, it's i2o here. I edited the video. Making the video I really didn't want to give bad light to any of the manufacturers we have covered, so they all get a big ass kiss from us. But yeah, Intamin are a big manufacturer and we do have plans to cover them in their own documentary. Unfortunately at the moment we have other big projects to work on.
Theres no denying that B&M make smoother coasters. But Vekoma are getting there and the smoothness is slowly coming. Vekoma's as a whole are improving all the time, they are certainly a company to look out for in the future.
I think B&M have become too boring. Granted they have smooth coasters, and a superb safety record, they haven't done enough to wow me anymore. You look at Intamin, Vekoma, and Gerstlauer for starters, and they're constantly re-inventing themselves or the product out there.
Vekoma have the 'sexiest' tracks imo

I 100% agree with you. A coaster that is too smooth feels too controlled. Like you're sitting in a physics lesson.
djfireball999 2 years ago
@therideguide You respect all manufacturers, even Togo? I'd love a Togo documentary.

i2o, I do apologise for my comments, or the harshness of it. As I said before, I had a 'fanboy' moment. lol

@corkscrewfoley and Vekoma now works with another roller coaster manufacturer called Chance Morgan. They make Awesome Gigacoasters.

Especially with their newly redesigned track, restraints, trains, and wheel assemblies.
