  • This video, and the 5.56 one, demonstrate why the 5.56 round is so much more lethal. And by lethal I mean you will kill someone quicker with the thrashing of a fragmenting little 55grain bullet then with the holes the x39 puts through people. Yes, both obviously kill you, but one breaks up vitals with hydrostatic shock starting as soon as 4" and stays in causing the target to take the full hit of the round...and the other makes nice little blood letting holes and keeps going.

  • @flamengishta 7.62x39 is more stable and better for punching through cover, which is a serious consideration.

  • @VideoGameBandit Which is why a simple move to 77gr smk otms (mk 262) have been adopted where barrier penetration is needed in current war zones. But the point of my remarks is that in a human, the 5.56 is more devastating because of the effects I listed.

  • @flamengishta The 5.56x45 has its short comings also. Many times it will leave rounds like that of a .22 LR without fragmenting or tumbling. I have a report by an army doctor where he recalls this. FMJ's regardless of caliber are usually lacking compared to say a soft point or JHP.

  • @esh325 Oh of course. I'd take a 6.5 or 6.8 any day over a 5.56 if I had the choice for combat. The only thing a 22lr and 223/5.56 wound have in common is the first few inches, regardless of tumbling or fragmenting. The 22lr will stop penetrating and the 5.56 will get it's 12"+ penetration. Sure it won't have hydrostatic shock under 2600fps but it still has bones and organs to hit which will create the fragments needed to shred vitals. 5.56=350yds, 6.5G to 1000yds. 308 need not apply.

  • @flamengishta True comparing apples to oranges Justin Beiber does suck, but realistically a 7.62x39 that fragments compared to a 5.56 that fragments causes more cavitation and permanent cavity damage. Google best ammo for self defense its on AR15dotcom tac-x in 7.62 is davastating through glass car doors and w/out barrier just to name one rd, Winchester super-X, V-max, military classic 124, silver/golden/brown bear. The 7.62 is better for damage, 5.56 accuracy end of story.

  • I use both 5.56 and 7.62...totally different rounds, neither are "better". They have different uses, they are just a tool like how a socket comes in different sizes for your socket wrench. That's why you buy more than 1 rifle.

  • @gwgn02 You can't use 2 different rifles to fight with at the same time.

  • @VideoGameBandit I did in Desert Storm. :) Thanks for playin!

  • @gwgn02 The rules are a little different there than for the average, say, LEO or homeowner.

  • the 7.62 is a blunt force round while the 5.56 and 5.45 are tearing and fragmenting rounds, the 7.62x39 is a crushing round where if u hit someone in the shoulder or an area were there is a lot of bone it will cause a ton of damage, and it just has a lot of kenetic energy behind the round so it has knock down power without a large permenant cavity

  • it "keyholed",,,,,,

  • @TheSleepermgm

i was wondering that since there was a second wound cavity. also it looked like the bullet was ended up backwards in the gel.

  • @f8talh8red yes,,the 7.62x39 and the 556 keyhole inside the target,,,,,good rounds,,

  • At one point many years ago I read an article about the 7.62 and if my memory is correct that round is alot more interesting when you put a few layers of denim in front of the ballistics gel. Makes it tumble like a circus clown on several axis. Just a thought if you got some spare time and extra gel!

  • Love them rednecks with the rooster in the back

  • I think it would, it would probably bounce Around alot more hitting a bones to

  • i've heard that if the 7.62x39 fmj were to hit a area with alot of bone (the shoulder for instance) it can cause just as much hydrostatic shock as a high velocity 5.56 or 5.45

  • @MartinApayauq1997 5.56mm is gay in compared to 7.62x39mm

  • @yurik19881 5.56 is far better than 7.62

  • @oktoberfest124 in a few ways it is but not in terms of power penetration and over all stopping power.

  • @yurik19881 7.62 is a slower, fatter bullet. i would rather be hit by a 7.62x39 than a 5.56x45

  • @oktoberfest124 being hit by ether could kill you just the same saying that 5,66mm is better than 7.62x39mm because it is faster is like saying 9mm is better than 45 for the same reasons. I have seen what 7.62x39mm does too flesh. and it any pretty. it blows things apart on it's way through. I have also seen what 223 and other small caliber rounds do. they leave a little hole all the way through. if 5.56mm was such a great round than why has the army looked for replacements for it like 6.8mm

  • @yurik19881 if 7.62x39 is such a great round, then why did the russians copy our round with their 5.45x39?

  • @oktoberfest124 the Russians copied the 5.56mm in the from of the 5.45x39mm so their troops could carry more rounds and so they would have a higher hit probability. Russians troops are trained to fire their weapons on full auto as primary. in the Chechen war the AK 74 5.45x39 was founds to be a unable to penetrate cover found in the urban environment of Grosni. so they broke out 7.62x39 AKMs if you want to see how powerful 5.56mm is look for Frontline Bush's war. you will see how good 5.56is

  • @yurik19881 last time i checked, we were winning and killing thousands of taliban douche bags. so therefore 5.56 is a nice solid round that can be very effective

  • @oktoberfest124

strictly because they could carry more and its lighter wich is kinda the same thing. same reason the u.s. went to the m16 and the 5.56.

  • @f8talh8red 5.56 is still better

  • @oktoberfest124

never diputed the fact that eiyher of them are good. i have both so i dont give a shit wich is better, cause if one aint workin im going to the other!

  • @oktoberfest124 ok, u go hide behind that car I'll hide behind this one, and lt's see which one is better ;)

  • @yurik19881

because for the minimal difference in weight, and you get better ballistics, so why not?

  • @lHustonProductionsl get lost jerk! If you don't like the 7.62x39mm than the hell do you watch so many videos about it?

  • get some 5.45x39 HP. do alot more damage. that rounds like a mini saw blade cutting through you.

  • FMJ is not for wounding it's for getting through armor and walls etc. better. The German military created a .308 fmj round that yaws inside the body and can also get through armor and probably multiple people. That's a myth what you said.

  • how many inches of ballistic gell equals a human torso?

  • @lHustonProductionsl That's what FMJ is FOR.... And that's why it's used in war and expansion rounds are illegal. A FML will make a clean shot leave a wounded man to be carried off by atleast 1 more person, usually 2. Now, with that one shot, you've injured 1 man and took out 1 or 2 more out of battle. With an expanding round, death is most likely to occur, and then there's no real reason to remove the body from the field.

  • own a fn 5.7x28??? i would like to see what the hollow point does vs the polymer tip

  • 5.56 vs 7.62x39 (im going to buy a Stag or a Arsenal)

  • i have this same type of ammo, is it the m43 or m67 cartrige?

  • @lHustonProductionsl Huge difference between being hit with a 7.62 and a 9mm lol.

  • hey for this vid, fmj brown bear is the type of round.. i wanna know what gun are you shooting it out of bro?

  • Very nice. Love the way you can see the spin going on inside. The HP one definitely had more stopping power and boy the damage.

  • Thats so badass! How much does ballistic gelatin run?

  • @MrSKSkill about $70 for FBI one shot gel only to $150+ for this reuseable by heating gel that we used here.

  • @TheAK47nut Dadgum! I need to join the FBI then! Can you put me a good reference in:)?

  • @TheAK47nut What would be a good site you would recommend for getting reusable gel?

  • shoot the chicken... for KFC!!!

  • @lHustonProductionsl actually no dumbass, what about the 1 inch diamiter whole it makes 4 times through out the gel.

  • @lHustonProductionsl Thats what all FMJ does. Did you think there would be more?

  • That whole heavy block of ballistic jell wanted to jump pff the table when it got shot. Thats some energy transfer!

  • thats some scary shit, thats like 3 people thick haha

  • hey ak47nut does the rubber grips on ur arsenal overheat? i saw a video of this dude and he melted the grips. i want the gun but i dont want that problem ya know lol. im gettin this gun just incase shit goes crazy. im goin ak all the way and i want the best one. what grips would u use?

  • @WHITENUT45 I would use UTG forgrip. Its a bit havier but not much since it is made out of aluminum. It uses high temp rubber round the aluminum.... an u could attach a grip.... i love em...

  • From the information I've gotten on how to make this ballistic gel it seems easy to make. But i was wondering if you can recycle the gel after it's been shot at? What i mean by that is melting it back to liquid and adding more to it to reform it back to what it was.

  • @GrannyWhackers1217 with real ballistic gelatin you can but with home made gel I dont know. look at the other vids of mine and youll see darker gelatin, it was overheated at reforming.

  • @TheAK47nut I'd like a block of ballistic gelatin with a 7.62x39 in it for my desk.. do you have any?

  • @TheAK47nut How deep did the bullet go exactly? Like 36 inches?

  • You should try putting some bone in there and see what happens when it hits bone. Most gunshot wounds aren't just flesh wounds most of them break bone.

  • @EHSPP16 even without the bone it left a pretty good wound track and some hellish energy transfered into the gel.

  • Nice test with the gelatin. However I feel my only qualm was the lack of significant cavitation within the crucial first foot of gelatin. I don't know a lot of freedom fighters that are 3' deep. Though, I'll be running through the rest of your tests shortly.

  • I like your video alot. My only qualm is that I think that the .223 and the 7.62 will kill pretty effectively at 15 ft. The video certainly made QUITE the impression about the penetration capabilities of a .762 vs a 5.56, but how do they compare at greater range- like maybe out to 100 yards? Have you done any tests of that?

  • @apamburn Others have and penetration for the 762 holds up well at 100 is my understanding.

  • @TheAK47nut penetrates well out to 300M, all that momentum..so what was your final verdict 47Nut? what load would you take war?

  • @Gloomshadow1 To take to "war"....... ball ammo. not all badguys stand in the open like rambo most hide behind something, so Id say ball ammo to "reach through" what there hiding in.

  • @TheAK47nut yeah, thats what Im thinking..Im stocking up on Ball first, thats my end of the world load. Im thinking about investing in a good, pellet rifle too for light hunting but I want it really small and light, something that can maybe fold up into a rucksack. Know anything good like that?

  • @Gloomshadow1 not off hand but a good idea!

  • @TheAK47nut yeah thanks..Im also gonna look for a little "pellet" hand mold..I figure wheel weights will always be easy to find and melt-down in the field.."Old West" style stuff you know? I have found that if you lose everything, you gotta move the clock backwards and think in terms of a more simple time. Low-tech works!

  • @Gloomshadow1 ummm henery is makin a rifle. a .22 long survival gun.it folds up. an if u want a pellet rifel for light hunting, i would rather go with a recurve bow so u can resuse ur ammo.

  • @RealisticSigma well if you can find a pellet hand-mold, you can get wheel weights off any old junk car and make hundreds of those little things right over a campfire. Im just looking to shoot squrrels and birds and what not. just in case we go back to the stone age during a zombie attack.

  • @Gloomshadow1 wow. i did not know that....

  • @RealisticSigma yeah, you know what Im talking about..look at any cars wheels..somewhere youll see little weight made of lead clipped to the edge of the rim next to the tire..there is one on the outside and inside of the wheel most of the time, use to balace the wheel..those pop right off..you can make bullets or pellets out of those..they will melt in a pot right on the fire and you can pour it into a bullet mold like the cowboys did. when the zombies attack, think cowboys and indians days.

  • @Gloomshadow1 good tip...

  • @MrBallistics thanks..I think its a good idea..light, cheap and silent.

  • @Gloomshadow1 Kel Tec sub 2000 in .223

  • @Swiftsniper002 sub2000 doesnt come in 223..and Im looking for a pellet rifle for shooting birds and squrrels

  • ive shot around 800 threw my 107f not one dud. i got them threw cheaper than dirt for $130 for 500 with the 20 doller shipping included. you know any other places for less? brown bear is good stuff.

  • I buy Silver Bear because thats what Arsenal recomended. What is the difference between Brown, Silver, and Golden Bear ammo?

  • @YourfavorateAKguy the plating that they use on the case.It is all steel case with a "wash" over it I have used all three and like brown bear and golden bear the best!

  • What makes Golden Bear better?

  • @YourfavorateAKguy Brass wash?? with the brown bear there is no tarnish over time unlike the others so to save up ammo in less than great conditions go with brown bear otherwise any of the three is good

  • how far was the shot from?

  • @akshooter762 about 15 ft

  • brown bear is my favorite......how much does one of those gels blocks weigh??

its a good thing i dont live there, because that block wall in the background would be destroyed :)

  • 35 or 40lbs, Its been a while.

  • what do you think of brown bear hp?

  • Love it!!

  • just ordered my first case of brown bear because its cheaper and maybe cleaner than my normal diet of wolf.

  • Mabe a little cleaner but a lot better!!

  • thats good, the round is generally 21-22 cents per round. so whats the big deal over silver and golden bear? arnt they the same thing?

  • Both are steel case so yes they are the same thing but the silver is a zinc

"wash" that will corrode and the golden is a brass "wash" and does what brass will do(turn green) so the one to buy IS the brown bear, all it will do is sit there. for a long time. It can rust but that is after weeks in water and they "steel" fire just fine!!

  • i figured that would be the case. i like laquored casings myself. wolf military classic stopped coating their cases and stoped sealing primers an bullets for the longest time, im not sure now, havent cheak'd new production since fall. guess the scare of Obamunism got them to step up production.

  • @molemanlivesagain brown bear is alot more accurate...to me anyway

  • crazy penetration

  • the gel was it the homemade recipie? or how did you make it?

  • @dills2403 Look up DIY ballistic gel on youtube.

  • What rifle did you use?

  • whoa hold on, probably and Ak 47 right? didn't really look at your username haha

  • sgl 21 with a 16in barrel

  • nice, how much do those usually go for?

  • 800 or 900.00 but I think they are on sale at k-var for 550.00 right now(12/1/09).

  • I think it 123gr but don't quote me on that.

  • When Russia first adopted the 7.62X39 what was the gr they first used? Was is 123gr? Thanks
