  • Oh come on! Talk about stereotyping! I'd skate to it, if I still could. Strauss's music is beautiful and masterful. That's all that matters!

  • The men are very attractive, well dressed, and can dance. They are either gay or european.

  • @the81stviewer or both :)

  • @the81stviewer I hope gay AND european <3 x'D

  • @the81stviewer

They are gentlemen. Unfortunately, you don't see that many gentlemen in today's world today. I appreciate the men and women in this video....they show CLASS!!

  • the dance is so romantic. I had a dream I was skating to this with my dream husband.. it was more of a performance.

  • @persuasionize If you dream husband was skating to this with you, he'd be gay. Don't get me wrong, I love the piece, but I wouldn't skate to it.

  • cuando me case quiero èste vals....es bello!

  • què hermoso video, me hace soñar...bello, bello!

  • No lady of taste would wear such long gloves without a VERY daring neckline.

  • Ohh, it looks like a fairytale.... :)) <3

  • Everyone smiles when they dance the waltz. Is there a more beautiful dance in the world? My one wish on my "bucket" list is to dance to this incredible piece in Viennia with my wife of 30 years.Mabye one day.

  • White culture. Very proud.

  • I have not words,big,big family Strauss!Thanks YouTube!!!

  • SUPER!

  • Whoever made this forgot that for dancing there was a "ball room" and not couples dancing in every division of the palace... I wonder if there were dancers in the bathroom as well...

  • I love it! The first class music and dance!

  • Beautiful! Thank you!

  • Dios q bello este video...los bailarines tan lindos como vuelan y como su tecnica hace q parezca tan facil y te contagia de mucha emocion y energia...kisiera bailar asi

  • Where was this and does it happen every year? Is this a special event?

  • @AmoeSilba That's in Vienna and yes it happens every new year's eve, the main tv stations in Austria play this waltz exactly at 00:00:00 ;)

  • this video is pure awesomeness

  • With the internet ,people who are inqiusitive can find much better music than what is promoted on the corporately controlled mass media.Much more fun to find better music than what every sheep listens to on the shlock forty. But dumbing down of the masses is very important to the elites. Having them dumbed down with crap (justin Bieber et al ) is a good start.

  • lol - there are all over dancing portman and one champagene serving dancer in this film ;) -- don't beleve? look at the flys...

  • Beautiful !

  • This piece is beautiful, and the bell intro striking. I have been told by many that Vienna is a beautiful city, something I do not doubt for one moment. This waltz is stunning - and timeless. I would give my eye-teeth to be able to dance like THAT.

  • Just magnificent. Viva Free Expression of the Dance! Sadly anyone we must see this in ballet or from an opera. Wonderful palace shots. Franz Joseph reveled in this. It kept him alive for 86 years.

  • It's so beautiful!!! L

  • i cant get enough of this piece.

  • oh... where do you find these men who enjoy ballroom dancing?!

  • is the place they are performing in a museum? And if yes, which one?

  • TeKoha, first learn to write proper English, and then I'll actually take your comment/s seriously. Until then, well, stick to Justin Bieber and entertaining yourself with Playstation.

  • Beautiful and young dancers never grow old in the sphere of a timeless masterpiece.

  • even the loveliness and splendor of this performance can't do Vienna justice, nothing can. It is the most gorgeous, most spectacular, most wonderful place in the world. This is just a quick glimpse <3 thank you for uploading!

  • Exquisite! Thank you for sharing this lovely video. Hav a wonderful day :)

  • The Stroll ( from the fifties ) beats this stuff.

  • Hoje eu poderia morrer felíz,se tivésse o previlégio de dançar essa valsa maravilhósa,com meu grande amor!!! Seria a realização inimaginável...

o maior dos romantismo q um amor possa viver!!!

  • The choreography is really amateurish...too predictable.

  • I keep thinking that it will turn into a high class porno

  • Utterly lost for words! "Beautiful" or "romantic" just don't seem to capture the essence of the muusic and the enchannting dancers. Gorgeous gowns, which the gentlemen allow the ladies to show-off to their fullest and most romantic effect. Captivating.... and I'm more of a rock 'n' roll guy.... I can see I need to "broaden my horizons"... :)

  • The danube is blue, my dear fellows.

  • My life long dream....To be in Vienna in one of those beautiful white dresses, dancing a Viennese Waltz in the arms of a Handsome Hussar. Ah well!!

  • @3675676me Vienna. Go at once. Don't forget the dress, my dear!

  • Oh how I love this waltz. My heart and feet take wings when I hear it.

  • "THE DANUBE IS BLUE.

    Are you crazy?

You should take a glass of wine, for me it's a bottle and you'll see that the danube looks blue.

and if you drink 2 bottles of wine, everything will looks blue" Strauss

sorry for my english but i'm just back from budapest and what he said is just fantastic. even i didn't drink wine :D

  • whats not to like

  • Still, the most beautiful of all Strauss renditions

  • BELLISIMO-GRACIAS.

  • This one and the Looney Tunes version are the only ones I enjoy to watch.

  • Is there any way possible that this could be more "chopped and cropped"!!??

  • There are also many balls in Slovakia, I plan on going to one as soon as possible. Relive the old glory that was Europe.

  • I was waiting for the spaceship to dock at the space station.

  • Ottima esecuzione!

  • i've been looking for this for ages! it's the song that comes on when cartoons are flying through space

  • @bertharochester yeah and also the movie Oddysseys and Airplane 2 if that's how it;s spelled lol ::))

  • I am from India I love this song. It reprents so much class and elegance than today's modern rubbish greetings :)

  • I love the ending, circlig around altogether. It's so elegant and gleeful!

  • We have a drink here in city of Novi Sad called "Danube": 2 oz of Jagermeisster/Herbal liquer and 4 oz of orange juice combined. Tastes great, but looks like shit, seriously....and Danube, for that matter :)

  • Perhaps you missed it. There are several small performances at the beginning that clearly employ ballet dancing.

  • THis is the best of the best.....SUBLIME...*S*

  • Mixing Ballet with Waltz? NO.

  • @foamulator Ballet!!? this is the Waltz...not Ballet...

  • mein Gott ! wunderschoen und am bestem !! FUNF stern ! *****

  • Ah, those days....

I live on Danube and it's as blue as the pile of rhino droping.

  • @BassmentGhost Sorry to hear that. Really funny comment BTW :)

  • Wonderful music and so graceful dancing !!

  • New Year's Day Concert, Vienna Philharmonic with dancers from the Vienna State Opera Ballet, every New Year's Day on PBS. I never miss it. My teacher and mentor Elisabeth Graetzer danced with that company and I grew up learning to waltz in ballet class.

  • Как красиво! У меня даже слезы на глазах навернулись!

  • Is that Simona Noja -prima ballerina ?

  • I love austria... this is the song everyone dances to on new years eve (silvester) can a song be more austrian?! beautiful.. schonbrunn palace!!! beautiful!!

  • waltz-famous vienna orchestra-Blue Danube Strauss

  • cant beat some european culture the americans havent a fucking clue........there country is only a baby compared to us..... Europe the bed of civilasition and culture

  • @irishjig123 o. o You spelled like 93842903 things wrong... and ummm cough, cough - Europe isn't a country.

    lol

  • @villanimami wtf are you on about I never said anything about europe being a country i said there country being america(USA)

  • @irishjig123 not just Europe, you can basically say that about any country outside of America... To me, I feel like Americans just try really hard to create their own artificial culture and traditions that every immigrants should follow in order to be considered American. They just have to be different from everyone else - they have to play "football" instead of "soccer", etc.

  • @irishjig123

Sir I will tell you as a non-American residing in the USA, European culture is beautiful indeed!! Coming from the mouth (errrr keyboard) of an Arab-Filipino :) :)

  • @arabianongpinoy

arab culture used to be good, back in the day, i'm talking about the arab culture in stories like the arabian nights, ali-baba and alladin, that stuff was cool.

if i designed dubai i'd have made it old-school, there would be golden egg-domes everywhere, a sultan, old men selling dodgy kababs, snake charmers, and i'd put money into developing flying carpet technology.

it would be a city you'd actually want to visit.

  • @arkatub

Well I think you are right about that! Sir thank you for taking interest in the Arab culture, and may I know more of your ideas concerning the Arab world? :) Your views are very interesting sir!!! :)

    In peace,

    Ali :D

  • @arabianongpinoy

ok, the veil, specifically the 'burka' varient, has become an item of clothing associated with faith that enforces sexual exclusivity and is a point of contention in western europe.

but i think it should have the opposite meaning, back when "the arab prince" entertained his western guests, he had dancing "concubines" who wore veils, it represented things like "allure" and "temptation", it should be the garment of the prostitute or whore, not the devout.

  • @arabianongpinoy

those bubbling somking pipes "hookahs" should be more popular, there should be "hookah bars" like the "smoking cafes" found in amsterdam, but with all those pipes bubbling away :D

what you should do, is make the tobbacco "shisha" actually get you high and make it part of your faith, that way you could set this stuff up in western countries in defiance of our stupid drug laws, it would get the press to focus on one of the funnier aspects of arab culture.

  • @arkatub There are "shisha" bars where I live in Manchester, England. Cannabis is illegal though. I always find that amusing considering cannabis is less harmful for you!

  • My favorite!!!

  • Message to kalloubitsa : I stand by my earlier comment. Today's tattooed generation is vile and disgusting. If at least they listened to Queen, Beatles, etc, then fine, but I doubt they would even have THAT decency. THIS, on the other hand, is class, decency, and talent.

  • why does frank zappa's plastic people come to mind haha

  • Tous les Dames enbleu pour danser Le beau Danube bleu. le seul probleme s'est trop professionellepour les gens ordinaire.

  • Absolutely lovely in all ways.

  • Compare this classy performance to the DISGUSTING generation we have today, replete with tattoos, zero taste in music, and complete illiterates.

  • @cytotoxix why are you so absolute? Rock music is good too!Every kind of music is art! and art is a kind of expression! The only I have to say is that's a matter of taste! For example i love listening to rock, classic, pop latin music! So please don't critisize this generation because i belong to it and i still listen to classic music too! so we are not all like those freaks you are talking about!

  • @kalloubitsa Why are you so absolute about being not absolute?

  • @cytotoxix snob much

  • @cytotoxix

    fuck you

  • @cytotoxix please do not generalise people..

  • @cytotoxix lol, what's funny is people who forget that when this music was popular, and this kind of "class" present... do you think THEY were the majority? There's always "disgusting" elements of every generation... people who act like the above were rich hoity toity aristocrats who treated everyone else like dirt. No thanks, not going back there

  • each time I listen to this music, I still cannot comprehend as HOW people managed to create such masterpieces and how much talented they should be...

  • Soooo beautiful, simply magic... i wish I could join you with my love...

  • Belvedere Palace, Vienna... no less.... what a dream...

  • Hello, why has problem the video in 00:35 ?

    Can you fix it please?

  • I keep expecting someone to come in carrying a tray of Ferrero Rocher.... LOL!

  • @rozniy lol. i love ferrero Rocher too..

  • @rozniy What does an Italian chocolate have to do with Vienna, Strauss or the Danube?

  • @gschjetne It is a sign of exquisite taste! ;-)

  • @rozniy from the company that brought you Tic Tacs and Nutella.

Mozartkugelen, the much imitated Salzburg confectionery, however, would be a more appropriate refreshment here.

  • @gschjetne it is a sign of exquisite tate! ;-)

  • @gschjetne

you can try adding dancing also?

  • perfecto

  • Incredible!

I am going to dream of girls in blue dresses for a long time now

  • Beautifully danced

  • grande giuseppe piconeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Meu DEUS tenho certeza que ja estive ai no passado, lindo!!!!!!!!!

  • Isiwont ta tu tirit utf

  • beautiful ballet dancers, dancing to a beautiful waltz. In any language it is most wonderful

  • To answer a previous question, this particular waltz/ballet scene was filmed at the Belvedere Palace, Vienna.

  • Well, someone went to the trouble to re-post one of the the greatest ballet expressions of the Blue Danube Waltz.....and for that I am greatful. I care not about the relativity of all of the classical music 'Einsteines'.

  • ¡Es un baile fantástico!, es una belleza escuchar esa pieza de Johan Strauss, no me canso de escucharla una y otra vez......

  • que monito!

  • Ahhhhh. I love the blue danube.

This is beautifully performed by the dancers. Who cares if it's ballet or waltzing, it's still fantastic and really captures the essence of the song.

Where is it filmed? the setting is gorgoeus!!

& of course I have to give notable mention to the Vienna Orchestra, they're such amazing instrumentalists. :)

  • @CommentingPhantomess at the belvedere

  • @CommentingPhantomess Paras valssi mitä ikinä sävelletty.

4.29 ja 5.44 alkaen aivan uskomattoman hienoja.Upeat tanssijat, upeat puvut .

    Kiitos Strauss,kiitos Itävalta,kiitos Wien!!!!!!!

  • @CommentingPhantomess

    pretty sure: Schloss Schönbrunn

  • @CommentingPhantomess It is amazing, I agree! It is filmed in Vienna, at the Belvedere Castle. I was there last Christmas/New Year and it was unforgettable!

  • @CommentingPhantomess Schönbrunn maybe??

And I remember when I danced at midnight this year, with my favourite boy on earth at the moment *_*

  • @CommentingPhantomess - Filmed at my summer home. ;-)

  • @CommentingPhantomess That's Versailles dude!

  • this is more ballet than waltzing

  • It's the Wiener Staatsopernballett (Vienna State Opera Ballet). Of course, it's ballet, but ballet also has waltzes. Just think of the Nutcracker. Furthermore, these dancers do know how to waltz.

    A ballet and ballroom dancer

  • whats all the fuss about? this is beautiful music to make your heart rejoice... positive and enchanting.

  • wow, sembra di stare in un sogno d'altri tempi. Fantastico

  • Why do people remove comments!! this is a free world to say what you think ..unless its slander or liable..but some people just want to control what people write..

  • waltz= Strauss, Strauss= Waltz??? surely no argument? Beautiful! surely, this music must be the benchmark for the Waltz?

  • 4:10 long neck is long :D

  • haha i never noticed until you said something but it is in the beginning too right when they pick partners

  • it's gorgeous!

We learned it at school a couple of days before our prom.

  • oh that's neat! I wish my school had taught us some classic dance like ballroom, waltz.

we did have some swing dancing at Prom though

  • are you serious or are you just saying that waltzing sucks.

  • am I being voted against by Pro-Waltz fundamentalists? Great to be reminded that freedom of speech never actually existed.

  • This is a beautiful video. What a wonderful tradition! Wish I could experience this.

  • you can move to Vienna. We all dance the Vienna walz on new years eve (silvester) and its wonderful. I learnt the steps with 5. Well basics btu thats all you need anyway

  • thank you for the invitation/suggestion, but I'm afraid I'm way to old. Now I dream! Growing up in the bible belt everything was a sin, we weren't allowed to dance. But I did all alone in private.

  • 'Thou shalt not waltz'

  • Probably the greatest dance music ever written.Absolutely enchanting.

  • Greatest is relative. Notice how everyone in this looks white, fair, and wealthy looking. Reminds me of golf... very "privileged".

But in my real life experience with waltz, not many people actually do it compared to many other forms of dance... eliminating it in terms of popularity/accessibility. You're much more likely to find a salsa or hip-hop club these days.

  • @kaigel

This is Vienna, Austria, and like most European cities and countries the majority of the population is white. However, the waltz was not originally danced by the wealthy and privileged; on the contrary, its roots are in the rural areas of Bavaria and Alpine Austria - a dance called "Laendler" in 3/4 time.

The Viennese Waltz is definitely not dead/eliminated. Young people still learn and love it. I went to a waltz ball in the US two months ago where 40% of attendees were under 30.
