I always imagined Roger Mellie having more of a cockney wideboy voice. "Ere, get a load of this, Tom" "What the fuck is that? Fly spray?" "Nah it's me new fragrance, it's made of left overs from a detergent factory. Mate of mine ships it over as 'cooking oil' at 19p a barrel, I could knock the fucker out at 19 quid a bottle! I just need a commercial, and that's where you come in!" "Dear god..."
As a huge Viz fan it didn't really do it for me, professor fuck for instance, in the mag he's an old gentleman with a tash from an university, so they fucked up there. Very good in parts but shite in others, stick to the mag would be my advice. But then again I'm just a thick as fuck Smog-monster.
This comic is a great resource for TV Viz is so funny and like Little Britain, represents the funnier side of living in the UK. I liked the old Viz stuff, and videos too, but they were more just about the characters. This is more like the actual comic with the shorter bits of Mellie and the letterbocks and crap jokes, ('time for a Viz crap joooake', lol). Just not long enough though, was just getting into it and it stopped :(
@Marcsafon It's all about the potential! If you like what might be in the pipeline with this, then that's what'll attract higher budgets if it gets a commission for a series (the idea of Channel 4's testing ground, comedy blaps).
@ToMsK87 That's what I'm thinking! Wait for next Thurs and the one after for 2 more of these blaps. If they get enough views, it'll get on TV (full series of Mellie, with better budgets, better animation, better EVERYTHING! Better Coogan? Maybe..)
Couldn't get a ouija board and persuade Peter Cook to resume the role of Roger Mellie? Or you could get that Doris Stoke to do it. Or use a ouija board to get that Doris Stokes if she's dead and then ask her to put Peter Cook on.
Regardless, bloody good. Steve Coogan makes a damn good fist of it.
what the fuck have they done to roger mellie this is white

Professor Fuck should be a university professor, not a scientist professor. And it would be funnier if he looked old and serious.

This doesn't translate to TV as well as I thought It might. What a shame, some things are best read.

Needs a lot of the shite trimmed away, then it might actually be quite good. But all the padding and shit needs to go.

Better in print
One really funny gag at the end (star in a reasonably priced whore "Five hundred punds goes to a kdiddes' charity")
Otherwise, much better in my head

Preffered Peter Cook's and Harry Enfield's rendition, but alas.......that was quite a while ago.

Not bad, but I don't think the Letterbocks and Top Tips work in this format - much, much funnier when read in the magazine.
Roger Mellie is good though, but again, definitely prefer him in print.
