But to be quite honest: i was very surprised at how run-down and shabby the States look these days. But still: definitely NOT llike a third world countries. What I am saying of agriculture is in terms of GDP, from 1950's to 2010.I would add that agriculture was once about half of total US GDP, whereas now it is only a small fraction of it. What's more, if for whatever reason machinery or gas becomes harder to come by and more people are needed on the farm, there's not enough Americans with farm skills to fill that demand.

I think we can do without the type of public education we have today in our public schools. Even if the Govt revamps the education system, it's still totally useless.
It's the MENTALITY and ATTITUDE of the American kids, inculcated by their parents who share those same mentality that results in MILLIONS of American kids having not much interest in obtaining REAL education and qualifications......those that can secure proper jobs.
Look at the MILLIONS who choose Social Sciences, Arts, Literature........they all think it's so "cool". Psychology can't get you that new job.

One of the striking things to observe is the way multiculturalists pretend to be shocked at the steep rise in poverty in the United States as if there were no connection between current immigration and poverty. If a country allows in large numbers of people from the third world and that also depresses wages at the low end of the income scale, one should expect to have a third world country.

Same thing with the Bridges- we have a bridge here that is so rusted it looks like something in that life after people show. 1 lane onlys on bridges also common here- cuz the weight load to heavy for all lanes to be open! Maybe that's the elites plan......Make us into a third world, two class society. The haves and the have nots. Making it so bad we will all have to work for food & shelter, long hours, for peanuts/bowl of rice etc. That way our wages will be equal to the rest of the third world, an even playing field for bussiness to profit/ the rich get richer. One problem though, who's going to buy these products these companies produce? Not the majority of people with no/low wages. MMMM???

Guys, I have just been to the U.S. and I have been in a few third world countries in Africa. And I can tell you: the U.S. is still a long way from a third world country. But to be quite honest: i was very surprised at how run-down and shabby the States look these days. But still: definitely NOT llike a third world countries. But the infrastructure definitely needs a big time overhaul.

The bankers want the ordinary ppl to pay their debts, so public services have to be cut everywhere, whilst food & living costs increase to repay the national debt for the next 11 years. If Americans think they've got it tough, the cost of food & living & petrol is 4 times higher in Europe, esp. the UK, with heating fuel prices, petrol, road taxes & food prices still increasing a lot. Immigratation is due to be capped, since we're struggling to fund our own ppl.

What I am saying of agriculture is in terms of GDP, from 1950's to 2010.I would add that agriculture was once about half of total US GDP, whereas now it is only a small fraction of it. Sorry that I did not gave a more detail explanation before on my past comment. Either way we are living in a 3rd world country here in the US already.

@1987Challenger3 There's also an agricultural skills shortage in America. The average age of farmers is high and there's not enough farm kids to take over. What's more, if for whatever reason machinery or gas becomes harder to come by and more people are needed on the farm, there's not enough Americans with farm skills to fill that demand.

I was just saying their should be programs that make it easier for people to move from the city to the country if they'd like, internship programs and the like to help folks gain the skills they'd need to make that transition if they'd care to. Immigration has it's place in a national strategy, but I often see it used as a lazy, unimaginative solution to problems that should be addressed by working with the population already present.

Its amazing how do you compare wealth and the standard of living with how many xbox we buy here in the USA. If you ever took Macro economics or any other economics in college you will know the difference of what a 3rd world is really is. The USA is in the right path to become 1, Because the economy will never recover is only going to get worse.

United States is just 15th with 130 billion and many country like India, Brasil, Thailand, Algeria is before the States(Data from 2010 so its 2 years old).

The Japanese hit back at cheap labor outsourcing by automating around it's labor force to achieve labor flexibility and to easily acquaint the labor force wt newer technologies coming into place like computerized robot-driven automation/CAD/CAM systems & to give manpower experience and knowledge into new technologies & by investing in heavily science R&D

As for NAFTA. IMF, WB, GATT, etc SCRAP THEM ALL! Replace them wt a series of fair trade policies as opposed to unregulated free trade, that should level the playing field, reward wt tax credits on insourcing & imposed levelling tariffs on outsourcing

I think we can do without the type of public education we have today in our public schools. Put some corporal punishment back into it along with indoctrination into being a good US citizen(like the Pledge of Allegiance and a morning devotional) then maybe we would not need private schooling. The public schools don't teach conformity...they teach diversity...so far its been a disaster. Give the teachers back their classrooms and the authority they need to run it.
