@paulozerati dammit dude(or girl) why do you have to say stuff like that it's ignorant plain and simple to see the americans for the 8 materialistic bastards it has, every country has assholes and materialists not just America your just an ignorant person and I pity you because I used to be the same way I'm christian btw and my god is the one that the Jews, Christians and Muslims believe in
@maestrochulo That chanting isn't in Latin, it's in English. It's difficult to make out, but if you listen VERY closely, the chanting is the words to Kane's little song that he sings: "God is in his Holy temple. Earthly thoughts be silent now." That chanting is simply these lines repeated over and over again to Jerry Goldsmith's music. These lines are from an actual hymn by the way... Who ever thought a hymn could be transformed into something so frightening and sinister.
@revokdaryl1 Son of a bitch! You're right! It is in English and it's the same song that creepy Kane sang throughout the whole movie. When I saw it on HBO in the 80's, I couldn't make out what they said. Imagine that. Wow!
@LinaXJester222 I'm not gonna cry. (holding back the tears.) I'm not gonna cry! (sniffle) Okay I admit it. I did get misty eyed when I saw their grandma at the end. Kinda touching, isn't it?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT, I hadn't seen this film since 2007, (I had this creepy obsession with Kane) I FORGOT HOW MUCH OF A ACID TRIP IT WAS O_o... I love it <3
it's a shame how hokey this film is, when you consider how superb the first one is in every way. the right effects, at the right time, with room for your imagination to build.
this film gives us blue-screen nonsense and a finale in which a Native Spirituality throws a magic spear (!) into a fire-portal (!) which is instantly retrieved by Steven (!) and used to kill Kane, who is now a Giger monster (?!).
it's just too much stupid. give me a rope around a waist and a closet full of light!
She's the only one who can lead them into 'the light'. If she can do that, the souls that Kane captured will be free of his control and they'll be allowed to rest. Kane needs her to keep the souls under his control...it's like a spiritual war, so to speak.
No problem. Also, Tangina said that Carol Anne must stay away from 'the light' as that is only meant for those who are to cross over or who are ready to cross over. As we've seen, crossing over before 'your time' can have devastating consequences as it nearly drained Carol Anne of her life-force.
i always wondered how heathers parents feel when they see this particular scene. i m a mother myself, i couldn t watch it : / rest in peace heather o rourke, may angels always be with you : (
I always liked the way the spirits and ghosts were done throughout the Poltergeist series. Most of them looked scary but they also had sort of a innocent look to them because of the light surrounding them.
@darkmoth2930 i'm sure it's a hodgepodge of all the spirits (or children) that died in the cave w/ Cane. u'd have to watch the whole movie to understand. if u look closely at the demon, it's really nothing more than a bunch of body parts mixed together--like the hair r limbs.
I always get chills when they glow once they are together (even though the teen daughter from the first movie is not there, but I know the actress was killed after the first movie) and when the Grandma brings her back! But to go this far to get rid of ghosts? That's what always stuck with me about this scene.
you know, im agnostic-but I always saw this scene asthe BEST EXAMPLE of ho hrd it is for families to stay unified spiritually, and how the "evils" of the everyday world pull at us from every angle. But as soon as we learn how to overcome the temptations and trials of life, and hold on in our family through our spiritual strength, the light and power that comes from that will defeat all evil-but we have tohold onto each other-because if you let go for one second...its there to tear you apart.
wow, frickin intense, i mean the poor girl was hanging on the back like help me!! is was scary when she turned into that freaky thing, go old indian girl!!
Pretty niffty special effects with the corpse-like Carol Ann transformation, among other things in the sequel...pretty advanced by 1986 standards. And a lot of people thought James Cameron get his start with the special effects with the movie, The Abyss. This actually dates much further. Was Rick Baker involved with the makeup and effects in this movie at all? Curious to know.
@paulozerati Right, because the supernatural is so obviously real...oh wait, no it isn`t. And you don`t need to believe in ghosts and shit like that to care about REAL human beings. We know that people are real, but we DO NOT know if souls are real in the sense that they are portrayed in this film, or in any literal sense.
If you think about it, this scene kind of represents Heather O'Rourke's actual death. That great monster grabbing her, taking her from her family, like death itself. When she aged into a corpse, and how she came back in an angelic-like state to her family as if she was in peace. Although in the movie she was saved but in real life she wasn't. :(
I always found this part disappointing. This could have gone in so many different directions. They had Giger on their crew, and this is what they do? A long cliched harness-on-a-blue-screen scene? Yet another contrived "power of love" victory? Bah.
@ninagirl007777 well you have every right to be spooky, most horror movies in the 80s like friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street never truly depict the suffering and or death of a child, it is implied but never truly shown, the poltergeist series was the first movie since omen to actually do such a thing and still keep its PG rating.
The actual soundtrack to this scene was much longer which leads me to belive that the "battle" was actually much longer than what we see here. Maybe due to all the cuts?
The only thing I don't like about this part, actually the only thing I don't like about this movie, is the fact that Kane is defeated too easily. They should have made it more difficult and drug this scene out a bit more. Otherwise I adore this film.
so umm there daughter ?
