I went to the local tobacconist here yesterday specifically to get something with Latakia in it, because of your videos. Turns out they were sold out of everything that had Latakia. Well which in their case is 2 whole blends... Yeah my options are sorely lacking here due to it being a nanny-state and outrageous duty/taxes on tobacco. Ended up buying Peterson's Sunset Breeze, which I find to be very nice. Gonna have to do some internet ordering for latakia though.

Does'nt separate the men from the boys at all. Of all the "pure" tobacco leaf, latakia has the LOWEST nicotine content of all and actually is'nt that strong......However, I defy you to smoke a bowl of pure perique!!!!! LOL :)

cannabis is both illegal, as well as pointless, while judgement should not be passed to what one smoke's (IE dont judge somone smoking cannabis) judgement should be passed upon judgement (wow I hope your high when you read this) smoking a pipe is not "ewww" is is rather relaxing and enjoyable, just because it is not to your taste's does not mean that it is bad, disgusting or any other thing.

i turned 18 about a month ago and bought a pipe instead of the usual cigarette pack everyone gets on their 18th

i really like the pipe it has a classy feel but the problem is in my town its not really a pipe smoking town

the best i could do [both location and money wise] was get a cheap 2 dollar corn cob pipe and 4 dollar vanilla tobacco

it is relaxing and enjoyable but i was wondering if you had any advice on how to really get the most out of my limitations haha

I am new to this pipe smoking my dad smoked a pipe and I remember the wonderful smells. I was wondering if there is a tobacco you would recommend there are no tobacconists around where I am in tn. The last one closed out no now its a 50 mile drive to Nashville. I am smoking Sir Walter Raleigh now but I know there has to be better out there. Thanks for any advice

My local suburban tobacco shop stocks it; it's the only non-tinned tobacco they sell. The guy says he keeps it in stock for several older customers who blend it in small quantities with cherry- or rum-flavored tobacco, it is supposed to bring out the flavor. @6LQ6 True dat.. La-TA-kia isn't nessecerely strong tobacco, but it is WAY smokey, and def not meant to be smoked on it's own. The strong tobacco is Periqu-E, and that's basically impossible to smoke pure. It'll make a full grown man weep like a little girl :/

The mythic Latakia .... when I tried it, I was surprised how mild it was. It also made me think, "English blend." It was hard to keep lit, and I got it down to black crunchies but never light ash - an experience I've also had with high-percentage Latakia blends like MacBaren HH. It could be interesting to try 'single malts' as it were, to better know our blends.

By the way, Trainpipeman is one of the finest men you'll ever meet.

Hey, I get dibbs for any pipe sell-offs! LOL. Since there so cheap, buy few & try diferent tobaccos untill you find one you like. "They" say to start out with flavored blends, but I didn't. I haven't smoked a lot of diferent (or particularly high price/quality) stuff yet though.

Just as very roasted, espresso+ coffe beans actually have less caffeine than less fired roasts, so Latakia, precisely because it is so thoroughly fire-cured, has much less nicotine than, say, pressed Virginia. Alone, Latakia may be very smoky, but is not very strong.

Yup! Tastewise Latakia is very strong, but when it comes to nicotine it's in the low end. 1,5 - 3,5 %. Perique would be 5 or 6 %!
