The only reason people feel this time is different is because 2012 is coincides with the suns solar radiation flare storms. These flare storms happen about every 9 years and the next Big one is due in 2012. The radiation from these storms is what creates the northern lights when it reaches earth.

@antoantoanto123 the difference with the mayan calendar and the chinese calendar is that the mayan calendar actually predicts an event in 2012. the chinese calendar didn't have any such prediction. people don't believe the world will end just cuz the calendar stops, but because it predicts a huge shift. human civilizations have been destroyed 5 times in history due to natural forces. you should come to terms with the fact that this world is not meant to last forever. no sense living in denial.

There is more people who are gay and identify as Christian because Christianity is the largest religion. Also a large portion of America is Christian and America is a very accepting country. It is not as taboo to be homosexual in america as it would be in the middle east where a good portion of people are islam and hindu.
Also, the fact that there are black gays does not support your argument. Anyone can be homosexual, no matter the race.

@603lateral Science isn't heaven, correct, but heaven is a cushion that was created by man to embrace the thought of death and moving on to something higher and joining your loved ones in nirvana, not just infinite darkness and nothingness. Man has come to the idea that we deserve something when we die, some sort of compensation, "heaven". But, in all reality we should embrace life as we live it and strive to make our life our nirvana instead of some place that we "hope" exists.

guys unfortunately 2012 is not even true. The Aztecs had multiple calendars and all the "end of the world means to the Aztecs" is that another cycle of people starts... just read the calendar RIGHT. Also, December 21st 2012 is a special occasion to the Mayans because of their passion for astronomy. The sun will pass over the galactic center on that day, and will be at it's highest of power in it's 11 year solar cycle. Clearly, since the Mayans have been relating religion to astronomy for generations, it is likely that they would set up their calendars to restart on that day.

The mayan calender has actually ended on several occasions, it simply recycles itself and keeps going. So there is no actual "end". The only reason people feel this time is different is because 2012 is coincides with the suns solar radiation flare storms. These flare storms happen about every 9 years and the next Big one is due in 2012. The radiation from these storms is what creates the northern lights when it reaches earth.

You People know that when they said end of days, they didnt mean it literally.
What do we know about ancient civilizations, they enjoyed metaphors and codes/math.
End of days means end of daylight for a period of time i assume as the new Era will happen. (End of days is wrongly translated)
Also maybe X and whatnot will cause some devestations but it will not destroy us, just reeducate us in sense hopefully, and hopefully it wont be to many deaths in the process.
