  • Taric was here...

  • Best theme song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pretty good 80s series, for some odd reason I can see them make this into a movie, like the Chipmunks. Hope they don't though. Oh well

  • Haha, The Misfits XD

  • Hmmmm 5 dislikes?

Pizzazz, Stormer, Roxy, Jetta, and Eric Raymond. XD

  • This song is so addictive I keep replaying it truly truly truly outrageous

  • ok I love the song!

  • one thing Iike about old cartoons is that you could see that they were artistically drawn, you could feel the lines and the paint

  • can't...stop....listening...lol

The hair on the girls is very funny xD very big too :p

  • @Maxamillionstar4

It's the 80s...what did you expect.

  • @ZECTCustomUnit true lol

  • the first season and a complete series DVD box sets of Jem and The Holograms is coming out on October,11,2011 from Shout! Factory.^_^

  • Thanks to this show, I almost made a mistake on a first grade spelling test. Yup, the word "gem."

  • I really like the animation on her hair for some reason. Hold on, is some of this rotoscoped??

  • @lynnvryett Yes, the intro animation was rotoscoped.

  • They so definitely NEED to do a live action Jem movie. The movie absolutely, positively MUST take place in the 80's (think the nostalgia of "The Wedding Singer"), it cannot take place in today's present time. The actress for Jem cannot be Miley Cirus (when Jem says; "Jem is my name NO ONE else is the same"... She means it. Nice try Hannah Montana but you're not Jem).

The entire feel to the movie should put us back in the 80's and have Jem and the Holograms rise to fame as big as Madonna's was.

  • The song's right. Jem IS truely outrageous! :D

  • 3 dislikes. 3 Misfits. Doesn't take the Batcomputer to put this one together.

  • @deathcatg

    Very true.

  • @deathcatg No try 3 to 5 and we have haters and who do you think the last two haters are you ask? It's Clash and Jetta.

  • @MsAllosaurus Any more and we can suspect Eric Raymond, Techrat, and Zipper.

  • @deathcatg You mean the weasel and his petrat? Yeah your right about that, but it hasen't happened yet with this vid.

  • Pfft. Hannah Montana? Screw that, I've got Jem./

  • the hub borught back all my fave childhood tv cartoons i used to love as a kid

me and my twin sister used to love watching jem

  • This brings back memories.

  • I read on wikepedia that the creator of Jem wanted to do an updated series of this cartoon, but copy right issues prevented it. Damn.

  • @SailorBalance

I put that bit of info in there. But on the good side, not only are Shout! Factory and Hasbro working together to re-release the series on DVD, but The Hub added the show to its lineup of cartoons beginning at the end of this month. So a new Jem series sometime in the future just might happen now.

  • habrso which own hub as the right to jem they are trying to work out a new series or live action movie.

  • This is an icon in my life

  • Is there an extended version of this? I've never even heard of this show before as I was born in '93 but the opening is extremely catchy.

  • @Cesariono yea same here born in '96 just learing about this but umm try the song truely outrageous its either that or Jem is my name

  • I still dont understand how Britta didnt become a HUGE massive singer just from JEM. Weren't people like "THE REAL JEM!!!!!!!" I mean..she could have been MASSIVE!

  • @xmjw

Yeah, one of those great mysteries...

  • @xmjw

Even better, I don't understand why Hollywood doesn't approach Britta to actually BE Jem in a live action action movie. If the pictures I have seen of her on Google were recent, she's a really good looking woman and... She's the actual singing voice of JEM from the cartoon series. JEM fans would love it if she played the lead role, she IS JEM. The movie could be truly... OUTRAGEOUS! I mean for crying out loud look how well "The Wedding Singer" (movie set in the 80's) did.

  • 3 dislikes?

We ALL know who THAT was.

    THE FUCKING MISFITS.

  • @sonicmandx12 - Yeah! Though I gotta say, The Misfits is a better name for a band than The Holograms.

  • @sonicmandx12 .....a family guy ostrich Ha Ha! to that

  • @sonicmandx12 Hahaha!!!!

  • @sonicmandx12 LOL

  • @sonicmandx12 omg i love you so much for that.

  • she had to much shit goin on in her life, she ran a record company, an orphanage, she had to worry about wether or not her boyfriend liked her or jerrica and she had beef wit the misfits. that was a bit much for a kids cartoon im just sayin

  • Jem is my name, NO one else is the same...JEM :D

  • Wow, I LOVE this cartoon, it makes me feel great to be a 80's baby..lol Thank you for posting :)

  • My favorite... I like and know this intro... not the other crappy one I've seen here on youtube (that I don't even recall lol)

  • mi serie favorita!!!! mierda como pasa el tiempo :(

  • Wow, wow and ultra WOW!!! I just love Jem show sooooo much!!! I think I was 7 or 8 when I started watching this show and OMG this was my favorite cartoon show ever and I think still is. I was in El Salvador when I used to watch this beautiful Jem cartoon. Now I live here in California, USA.

Me and my friends are Jem girls, Jem... Jem is my name. LOL I Love it!! and yeah, who cares? I am a guy too! Hehehehe!!

  • the quality is amazing! thanks!

  • OHGODWAT

WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE D:<

    TRULY OUTRAGEOUS

  • I forget what show this came on afterwards, but I used to just watch this after it (it might have been Ghostbusters.) I'm in my mid-twenties and I'm a guy, but this really was a good quality animated show for its time, and trumps all the modern stuff easily. Just can't argue with a quality production. Miss that era. At least YT keeps it alive for the meantime. Thanks for the HD upload!

  • Jem is the s@#$ they need to bring this back on TV so all these young kids under 30yrs old can see what 80's cartoons had originality and style and meaning unlike this Bull on TV now.

  • first heard this on yugioh abridged! thumbs up if you did too

  • Was anyone else thinking this?: FFx2=Jem?

  • what this kind of colored fashion called? i felt in love with their looks when i was a child and iam a male.

  • this was done with a range of high tech rotoscopes in tokyo japan, sources close to hasbro have strongly stated that this is the most expensive animation intro in history . mid first season animation was also rotoscoped , due to a rating drop later on the animation was changed to a conventional method resulting in less crisp, fluid and "life like" appearance . due to overwhelming response hasbro/universal-vivendi is considering re-releasing a full line sometime in mid 2011 .

  • @ULTRAPOSH this is one of the highest quality replies on youtube

and it was for a jem video

    also, god bless rotoscopes

  • the 3 people who disliked this video are Hannah Montana fans

  • @skinnybanana123

And thus, their opinions have no weight.

  • @skinnybanana123 Hannah Montana should have been a cartoon instead of a sitcom. It would have been better animated like Jem was.

  • @skinnybanana123 ROFL!!! I wish I could thumbs up 100 times because that sir was hilarious

  • The Misfits part is the best. I would always watch the intro long enough to hear their part before I would turn back to G.I. Joe or The Transformers.

  • i never was a Jem fan , but i respect one thing from this cartoon...

The bands played their own intruments

  • This is my theme song. -pokes username-

  • Clearly an epic '80s intro and song!!! :-)

  • The 3 who have disliked this thus far (and the miscreants who will in the future) are complete weirdos.

  • The theme of my day today. ; )

  • Good Enough

  • josie and the pussycats cats clone 80's style hahahhah

  • I used to hate those jealous Misfit bitches!

  • I think my favorite part is where you see her as Jem and then getting turned back to normal. That animation was friggin awesome.

  • Just had a crazy idea! I think that that all-girl acapella group from "The Sing-Off" would kick ass doing the full minute and a half version of this theme song! I think they were called "Noteworthy"

  • check out the freezepop version of jem theme its preety good

  • Can someone do this version in accapella for me! Please and thank you!!

Ps and if you dont mind "The Mood Im In" too!!

  • 0:30 - 0:31 Looks like a motion capture animation technic, looks really good !

  • It was probably done with rotoscoping. They did a lot of that in 80's cartoons.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks so lot for the information FaytLinegod! I would like to know more about this technic on animation. See ya!

    0:30 - 0:34

  • @FaytLinegod it was a lot better, you can tell by the way they move, it was a lot more human

  • what about the extra fluid movements of jems animae in the first split second who did that its clearly a difference

  • hey what about SYNERGY jem is hot the misfits definetly get love but Synergy put shit together!

  • *happy sigh* I totally had this tape... Rocked out to all the good old Jem music.

  • @punkersdanielle: Whew! I'm telling you, it had been years since I heard the Jem music until I chanced upon this last year. By far, the original theme has the best bass line that never fails to get me pounding! I can feel all of the "hit points" too. That's what a music lover can do!

  • if i were a cartoon ........anyway the animation and the music is on point but what about hit points? could you please share more with me?

i feel where your coming from but i think you could teach me something new!

  • okay i just looked it up ....its awsom e when something so fantastic is relatable down to a science

  • Haha, I'm with ya! It just brings on the happy for me too... :-)

  • I've been looking at the these throwback intros, Jem, Ghostbusters, Jayce, Transformers and all the rest. Here's my question. Would you pay for a throwback channel that had these toons? I would as long as the assclowns that run cartoon network are nowhere in the picture.

  • @Blackheartrises : Man, I would gladly start taking up a collection to start a retro entertainment channel. If it was a people's choice-type channel, that would be a bonus.

  • I don't have cable so I don't know if there is a cartoon network or what it shows. There has to be a market for this kind of show right now. Miley Cyrus is so popular right now with the 7-10 year old girls. This would be a better show to watch than following Miley's antics on tv and in public. Thank goodness for Taylor Swift.

  • hey you know come 2 think of it i get that giddie feelin when i hear party in the usa... its such a feel good song..yaaaa miley!

  • HUmm i remember this cartoon, damn i was 8!!!

  • Who sung that song? Damn you'd think after that, she'd have a record deal with that voice!

  • Britta Phillips is the singing voice of Jem n the intro and the series itself.

  • Yes, so I've heard. I totally flipped when she hit those high notes on some of those songs, looking back at some clips I said "DAMN! That is HOT HOT HOT!" Every time I listen to this theme, I can feel the bass line! I love nostalgia!

  • Although, it she doesn't sing "Jem Girl"- it was confirmed at JemCon 2009.

  • @OSHWebbie: You Lucky Dog! I totally missed the first couple of JemCons and I would practically pay through the nose to attend! Add that to my list of favorite things to do every year, ask me about it sometime if you like! ;)

  • im 36 years old and this intro still turns me on!

goddamit i used to purposely be late to school( high school) just see it. im so glad i didnt discover weed until after i graduated.

  • @KerryC05 Britta Phillips was the blonde girl on the movie Satisfaction with Justine Bateman.

  • @KerryC05 britta phillips does have records out there, as does Samantha Newark who did the speaking voice of Jem / Jerrica.

  • They drew Stormer so evil looking in the opening.

  • And Pizaazz looks like the nice one of the three (Irony!)

  • Can't stop jerkin' out to that Bass Line! This takes me back to when I was a little kid. I couldn't stop playing air guitar and bass to this song...and to George Michael...and to Michael Jackson...YEAH BABY! XD

  • The theme sounds like it was sung by the Bangles

  • Yeah, it could have been. Or, maybe even the Go-Gos. If you listen well enough, you can hear a pretty damn good bass line; LOVE that Bass Line! I hope I can get a friend of mine to play it!

  • Man its too bad there was never a official sound track done. Hopefully one will be released in the future; im almost tempted to contact hasbro directly and inquire about it yes im insane temporarily ha ha

  • So hot when I was a kid, haha. Man, having crushes on cartoon characters was the best.

  • I'm seeing Lady GaGa similarities also, which makes perfect sense, as even she admits to drawing a lot of inspiration from 80's glamrock and Bowie.

  • Totally agree with you there! When I caught this clip by chance, it was like watching Lady GaGa back in the 80's. I thought I was the only one who noticed, but now I see others who do! I've always liked the Go-Gos, Queen, Wham!, Michael Jackson and sooo much more I can't say 'em all! :D

  • NOOOOOOOO, Can't beleive I forgot about about this how cool

  • WE ARE THE MISFITS! WE GONNA GET HER>.....oh man i know that.......

  • One of my favorites as a kid!

  • I was 8 when I first saw this cartoon, and I was a boy back then attracting to female cartoon characters and music. Now I'm an adult now and I don't regret seeing this cartoon.

  • Glad to see I wasn't the only one. I always thought Kimber was the hottest and I had a thing for her. Pathetic, I know.

Looking back at it now I can laugh, but I always hid my love for this show from my friends.

  • Same here! I laugh at all my silly childhood fantasies 'cause I can't get enough of them. I grew up with this as well as Michael Jackson and Wham! What can I say, my tastes are...eclectic. Now that I think about it, I remember thinking to myself that Aja was really smart, and cute as well! Hee-Hee!

  • I was 6 when I caught a glimpse of this show; maybe that's how I started my various crushes on female characters as well. I was a geek then, and I'm still geek to the core! No regrets either, no regrets! :D

  • Jem! If they made a movie of this I would think that Audrey Kitching should play jem. It'd be fantastic.

  • I respectfully disagree. No one should play Jem but Samantha Newark. If anyone has that right, it's her.

  • I disagree myself. RaeRemix was right, Audrey Kitching is a pretty decent choice to play Jem.

  • @FaytLinegod She'd be too old.

  • i wonder if they'll make a movie out of this cartoon? Who would play Jem and who will be the misfits?

  • I've actually put some thought into this one. I think Kristen Bell should play Jerrica and Samantha Newark, of course, should play Jem.

  • Isn't the whole Hannah-Montana thing just a blatant rip-off of this?

  • I'd be surprised if Miley Cyrus had even heard of Jem before now.

At any rate, her show has absolutely nothing on Jem.

  • I'm surprise i never relised that myself. Although i was very young when Jem was on and not a Hannah montana fan now. Even the intro sequence has similarities.

  • Nice hair. Nuff said lol :D

  • Jem inspired me to sing hehe

  • i wish i could go back to the 80's...id almost sell my soul to go back...

  • Yeah...me too...in "Butterfly Effect" style if you know what I mean...wish I could go back and correct past mistakes! :(

  • when Jem transforms back to...I guess regualr form...she looks like Debbie Gibson. Back then, that is.

  • "jem!" (sigh) the only thing about my childhood is the 90s

  • i'm like obsessed with this show now. i was unfortunitly born in the 90's. sooo; i feel like i was denied the awesomeness of the 80's and Jem. I plan to buy the seasons, not to mention start collecting some of the toys, vhs, etc. I have also decided to name my daughter Jerrica (whenever i have kids). and btw, did i mention i was a guy?!?

  • Yea it looks pretty cool. I can understand buying the DVDs or the videotapes but seriously, buying the figures?

  • I hear ya, man! I'm also a guy and I didn't see this as a "girls" cartoon, I just saw and felt the music, and the pulse of the 80's. What can I say, the music really IS contagious! HEE-HEE! :)

  • @xDRAYx haha dang, you just described me :P

  • @xDRAYx i figured that you were a guy. I don't any girls who are that invested

  • @xDRAYx i figured that you were a guy. I don't know any girls who are that invested

  • OMG I was totally in love with this cartoon! I never missed an episode back in the day!

  • dear god! lol i had a crush on those girls when i was a kid of course jem was the one.

  • this intro is way better than the others..

    djrj

  • Those colors make me feel really good.

  • WOW amazing quality to be sure! thanks for that.

  • love it.....mmmuaaahhh...

  • totaly cool....and btw the 90's sucked ass

  • Well, to be fair, the 90's did have some bright spots. Like Batman:TAS and Gargoyles.

  • totally agreed dude

  • The 80s and 90s both rocked.

Today's not so bad (in terms of cartoons anyway) either.

    Every decade has it's highlights.

  • agreed to the max...

  • Couldn't agree more. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, so I remember a lot of the good stuff

  • I'm a guy who is not gay and still wish to someday have pink hair. The first time I saw Jem I was about 10yr old and the first thing I noticed was the strange hair colors.

  • Wow. 80's really was a kickass decade. Still not as great as the 90's though.

  • omg i luv jem!

  • OMG, nostalgia!!!

When I was a kid I fancied Mary 'Stormer' Phillips from the Misfits for some reason, can't remember why.

  • I remember myself as a dumb little kid watching this with my sister.

And as always, I know this line is overused, but....

    LONG LIVE THE 80's!

  • Same here, as a dumb little kid I didn't appreciate how hot Jem was :)

  • Jem might be back on DVD. Hasbro got the distribution rights. YEAH!!!!!!! Truly Outrageous!!!!!!

  • It might be a while before they iron out the details, but let's hope they give us better extras than Rhino did.

  • Actually, Seasons 1-3 ARE out on DVD. They have been for about, oh, I don't know, 4 or 5 years?

  • Yesh, but they're out of print and cost a small fortune. Plus, Rhino never released the second half of Season 3.

  • I love Jem!
