This is a question for those who know about dance. Is there any dance technique in what he's doing? To me, it seems more like movement rather than dance. But then again, I'm not trained as a dancer so I don't know. So, once again, I'm asking if he has any real technique. Thanks!
@chinopoet well there is no contemporary technique, so he IS a contemporary dancer ... and to answer ur question, u cant really have a technique when the style of dance ur doing doesnt have any ... so no, there wasnt any actuall dance technique in what he was doing but he still can be called a contemporary dancer since contemporary is any type of dance that doesnt fit in an other style but that stays art.
@FyreBalletDancer Actually, there was quite a bit of technique in what he was doing. Many of the moves had good lines and you can see the technique underneath. Nonetheless, it might not be right for the show...

And I meant that since the show wants to showcase dancers in various styles, and thrives on taking dancers out of their comfort zones, then if he wasn't as versatile as, say Brandon Bryant, then this show might not suit him. However, I think Nigel recognized how brilliant he is at his particular style, and rightly showcased him. And I agree with the personality issue-at times SYTYCD has chosen "peppy" dancers over artists-Anthony Burrell vs. Jose...

I never said the opposite. what i meant is that they arent looking for artistry anymore, they're looking for a personnality that's catchy, cheerleader-like, and hollywood-like ... thats not part of being an artist in my opinion

he was good up until he walked off...so dramatic. you don't have to be an actor to be a dancer...you stopped dancing...so stop with the show, dude. Dance was great, but i think it's so funny how these judges were AMAZED! It wasn't amazing, many people do this everyday, it's called MODERN dance people...let it on the show!!!
@anthonyshevling hmmmm great response, though i think many artists live art, they are always "in character" it is who they are, their form of artistic expression sometimes is from deep inside truly and it doesn't shake off like a costume or mask for most artists. it is an art form too to separate the high art and then the down to earth now. they are amazed because maybe they never worked with any real visionaries ? just a thought.
This is my favourite performance of all time on "So You Think You Can Dance". It totally mesmerizes me every time I watch it. And the music is perfect for Gessuri as well. Love it. I want to see more and more and more.

@taryn2179- Of course it's good to be proud of one's own accomplishments. My comment of "very proud" means going over the top with it, arrogance is more accurate. He claims to of tapped into the universe, which is a humbling experience-to realize something much greater than you is out there.
That being said, he comes off a bit pretentious which contradicts the very thing he is painting for the observer. For me, it dulls his authenticity and thus the performance. It's as if he's very proud of himself and all his creative/philosophical accomplishments.
i just have some questions.....shouldn't we be proud of our creative/philosophical accomplishments??? aren't we still allowed to feel pride over things we have acheived?? if we work hard for something, can't we be proud about it?? sorry....i'm just a bit confused by this comment....

Well that stinks! I thought for sure Gessuri would be in the top 20. I was hoping they would give him a chance. I hope to hear about Gessuri and his career outside SYTYCD Canada. He is the most memorable dancer during the try-outs.

He just allows the sound to be in his body and then to project out of a movement/gesture. Hope he goes on tour. I would pay to see him.

I think the song assisted in making the dance supreme. It felt like Gessuri was channeling some deeper spirit or mystic; and like a holy man,
he drew us into his world. But can he do ballroom etc.?
