Not lost since May 26th (I don't really count the Man U game) and playing great, attacking football. Scoring late goals, showing fight and the stuff champions are made of. I wish my EPL team, Arsenal, had half the team spirit the Sounders have this season. Best club in the MLS by a country mile
Fascinating song thematically. Starts out with the strong sports anthem motif which has lasted the test of time, but then shfits into what sounds like a 70's TV theme song. Very I Dream of Jeanie. The arrangement also heavy on trumpet, and shows other flourishes from the Herb Alpert/Chuck Mangione era. Hopefully the bands playing it today have reworked the arrangement for that middle section.
@skeetcouper Yeah you can tell that this song was made in the 70's. The general theme is similar to every other brass-heavy band arrangement from the popular culture of the era. I like it.
Seattle is the center of the MLS universe...watching a game ANYWHERE other than Qwest Field is such a dismal letdown. Every game start HOURS before the first kick...Thousands of people in FULL Sounders Fan garb crowd downtown Seattle to start the build up to game time. Pretty phenomenal to see!!
I'm a Sounders fan and watch their games on TV when I have the chance. When introducing the show they play this theme but the version sounds like it was played on a synthesizer. I want them to bring back the original theme sound.
Went to Seattle on vacation, from Chicago, IL. Was there to see the Fire @ Sounders. After I came back, my Fire stuff went in the back of my closet, and havent missed a Sounders game since!
Yes! We have been a football (soccer) town since the 1970's. NASL, USL, etc. I was lucky enough to see Pele and the New York Cosmos live in the Kingdome back in the day. We have a passion for the game that cannot be matched in the USA.
i work at qwest field where they play and i love game days we seriously have the best fans ever and their so dedicated even if were losing those fans are still on their feet screaming till the last second of the game unlike hawks fans who start too leavin in the 3rd
Just a slight correction. Although this is the original Sounders theme song, it wasn't introduced in 1974 when the team first started play, but (to my recollection) was first played when the Sounders moved to the Kingdome from Memorial Stadium in 1976. As a long time fan, I am glad they brought the song back, linking the new team to the old...
Not according to the Seattle All City Band history, which states they started playing in it 1974 at Memorial Stadium, as the two shared the stadium those years for matches and [ractices.
Okay, I stand corrected. All I can say is that the first time I heard it being played was the opening sports event in the Kingdome, April, 1976 when the Sounders played an exhibition game vs. the NY Cosmos. Maybe the sound system in the Kingdome was superior to Memorial Stadium- who knows? BTW, thanks for posting all the great Sounders vids!
"The Sounders, The Sounders, We are the mighty Sounders. The Sounders, The Sounders, Seattle F.C. Sounders . Passing the ball they move up the pitch Onward and forward the goal . They score a goal today, The fans all shout Ole! The Sounders, victorious today. Hey!" -Chuck Davis hb151
Sounders for the double, like if you agree.

Sounders in the regular season is a different thing. Preseason is useless, and it's our MLS Cup this year!

2 Nil at the Cascadia Cup.
Not as easy winning against an MLS squad than it is against a USL squad isn't it?
More ass kicking to come.

IMHO that might very well be the first "legit" U.S club anthem. However, you still suck. up the Aces!!!!

The Sounders fight song was introduced that first season of their existence, in 1974, at Memorial Stadium. I was there!!!
