OMG! 125 degrees that's burning hot. When is the best time to visit Marrakech? I love (canned) sardines with a lot of sliced onions and tomatoes. welcome scylla14. 1 $ US = about 9 Moroccan Dirhams. 1kg sardines costs less than 2 $. most of vegetables cost less than 50 cents a kg (yeah one half dollar a kg), lamb: about 6 or 7$ , all spices are availible and cheap, i should mention that moroccan people arent rich thats why prices arent high, tourists always find it agreable and less costly to spend some days or even weeks in morocco. welcome in Morocco any time :)

wow thanks for the awesome explanation. I really want to travel to different places around the world, but Morocco is definitely one of the top on my list to visit. It seems like it has some really nice culture, it looks beautiful, and pretty laid back, and the food definitely looks good. I don't eat a ton of food, but the idea of just sitting at a bench and eating some nice pieces of lamb that just came out of a large underground oven sounds mighty appealing.....

Because the American government has a great deal fo influence over American schooling, of which learning language, and subsequently the culture, of other countries isn't emphasized. Foreign languages aren't usually offered until high school(Students would be 15ish, I believe), and are past 'prime' learning age. I think(personally) it is an attempt to breed false patriotism(Nationalism) into Americans. Ignorance breeds mistrust, and other cultures are no exception.

English is the de facto world language right now... it's hard to go somewhere where people don't know at least a little English.

Well, most countries offer language courses from the countries around it. Americans just never leave America, so don't bother learning Spanish or French(Mexico and Canada, respectively). Despite the high occurance of neighboring countries being multi-lingual, it doesn't make much sense that they should learn the language of surrounding countries(Germans learning Austrian or Swiss, for example)- but it's offered.

And there are tons and tons of different foreign language classes you can pay to go into also before middle school if you want to get a head start.
